My library says it is coming... I'll put my name on the waitlist, but it already doesn't look good, as there are a lot of people on it. We'll see.
We call them sneakers, too. Sometimes just "Converse" -- sans boots. ☺ Never heard of "skater shoes"! Why that name?
Are they called skater shoes cause skate boarders wear them? They wear them here in Alabama....my girls (who don't skate) have Converse in about 15 different colors/prints. I even wear them sometimes LOL
I have two pairs myself Susan, and I don't skate, but yeah, it's one of the most popular shoes for skaters here. Mind you, my 60-something uncle tells me that he grew up with Coverse All-Star boots so they're obviously not a new fad :-) I find it so interesting that we all speak the same language and every so often the local idioms confuse :-)
I just got a newsletter overnight from the HeroesandHeartbreakers.com and there's a preview of Chapters 1-3 of Third Grave Dead Ahead for members on their website :-)

I'll be able to read the first book before this starts, but I don't know about the second, but I'm going to give it a shot. I think I'm going to spend my February lurking in group reads :)
My friend at work was reading this today and she just kept IM'ing me OMG over and over....not sure if this scares or excites me lol!
I'm going to try to read the first one before this one starts. Really enjoyed the buddy read on #2 so I'm definitley in for this one. Btw CaroB, I call them skater shoes too, I grew up in Southern California at a time when skaters were very popular, idk they might still be. Not as big here in Arkansas. I've never called them tennies, although I did understand that to mean tennis shoes, which I call basically any type of athletic shoe. Anyway looking forward to this buddy read! :)
So I went to Books-a-million yesterday in search of books #1 and #3. What an adventure that was! I of course immediately found book #2 (the one I've already read) in the paranormal romance section, however the other 2 books were not there. I asked if they were in stock was told they were and could be in 3 possible different sections. Finally 30 minutes later I located book #1 in Mystery and book #3 in General Fiction. Why on earth 3 books from the same series were spread out into 3 different sections in this very large bookstore is beyond me! But I digress :). Read halfway through book #1 last night. Really enjoying it! Getting such a better feel for the characters like Garrett Swopes, Uncle Bob and Charley's dad. Those characters are much more fleshed out in this first book. I'm also getting a much better understanding of the history and relationship between Charley and Reyes. I'm liking Charley more in this book and possibly understanding her actions in book #2 a little better. Had I read this one first (as intended) I may not have been so hard on her at the end of book #2. Anyway, really glad I'm reading it and definitely looking forward to this next buddy read!
I was sweating bullets there. I don't think I could pick up a paper copy after listening to the first 2. lolSorta like picking up an actual In Death book. The Horror! ;-)
Just finished the first book. So glad I got this one in before the buddy read! And I have a new theory... I think she is afraid to let his corporeal body die in book 2 cuz she's afraid he'll loose his humanity. I think part of her is still scared of the son of satan "big bad" side of him, but she's in love with the human Reyes Farrow side of him. He even argued nature versus nuture, that being born on earth and not remembering his history made him good. Maybe she is scared that if his body dies then Reyes dies and all that is left is Big Bad. Someone else may have already said this in the last buddy read, but I get it now :). So glad to have a better understanding of their relationship dynamic going into this third book
I don't think anyone had said that, and I at least hadn't seen that, but now that you've pointed it out, I couldn't agree with you more, and must admit that her binding him into his body is completely forgivable :-)

Goodreads Synopsis:
Charley Davidson—grim reaper extraordinaire, private investigator . . . meh—is practicing her profession under the influence, caffeine and copious amounts of it, due to an extreme desire to induce insomnia. Every time she closes her eyes, Reyes Farrow, the part-human, part-supermodel son of Satan, is there. Only thing is, he’s a tad peeved. She did bind for all eternity, so it’s hard blame him. But 13 days without a wink is bound to bring out the crazy in a girl. So, when a man hires her to find his wife, Charley accepts the job with one goal in mind: Put the man behind bars, and not the wet kind. She can sense the guilt waft off him and vows to find the woman’s body and prove he’s a murderer.
In the meantime, Reyes is back in prison and none too happy about it . . . so Charley thinks, until she is carjacked by the dark-haired rake, who swears the very man he went to prison for killing is not only alive, but close by. And he wants Charley to find him.
While a visit to her old friend Rocket sheds no light on Reyes’s situation, Charley finds out the man’s wife is still alive and time is running out. Finding her before she dies would be a miracle, but she has to try. Together with the help of a fashion-impaired receptionist named Cookie, Charley sets out to bring the bad guys to justice. She just hopes Reyes is not one of them. And that she’s not hallucinating from her self-induced bout with insomnia.
