Welcome Ivana, with the country, we also share the same town :-)
Now it crossed my mind, you Croats certainly already know, there is a movie entirely dedicated to Split - A Wonderful Night in Split aka "Ta divna Splitska noć" in Croatian. Movie is a depressing one, not for everyone's tastes, but you may see Split's historic centre.
I wonder if there are movies that present your hometowns too? Now that would be interesting to know!

Pag city center was used in the movie Two Sunny Days.
A Wonderful Night in Split is a depressing movie, so I would recommend everyone to come and see Split live.
P.S. How do you two feel about the new Riva? It raised a lot of discussions.

As it usually goes with Croats - we will never love it, but we have grown accustomed to it. We may rant as much as we like, but the officials wont budge even a finger for our wishes. I think you got a picture of it during the snowstorm disaster in Split few days ago :-)
About Karlovac, I didn't know that The Hunting Party was filmed there :-) Great! Regarding the Croatian cities, I am the most proud of the role of Dubrovnik in A Game of Thrones. I was really so happy for them! Here's the link to the official webside and video.

Thanks for the heartwarming welcome. I've seen the movie and you're right, it is a bit depressing.

I don't like it at all, it doesn't fit the historical element of the old town. It's like they tried to put The Vegas Strip in the middle of the 1700 year old palace....oh wait, they didn't try to do it....they actually did it. I guess it's like Zeljka said, we got used to it, but as far as I know not many people like it.

My name is Dina. I am from Capljina small town in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I am 50 years young. ( I don't like word OLD :D )

Welcome Iman, glad to have you here! Your country is really beautiful one - I was in Syria few years ago and still regret not visiting Lebanon too. Oh and The Lord of the Rings is my favourite too :-D I hope you'll enjoy this club :-)

Hi Nathalie! Thank you, great to have you here then :D I hope you will like it. Welcome to the group :)

I'm a 24 year old originally from Finland but moved to the UK at the end of last year.
Also a mother of a 4 week old baby boy so I definitely have the time to spend on this new hobby of mine.. who knew breastfeeding gives you so much idle time. :D

Hello Alana, welcome! Reading books and then watching the adaptations is my passion too, I hope you'll like the group. It's a kind of easier way to remind ourselves of good books and movies just waiting to be read and seen. It's all right if you do not manage to read some books of the month, they would always be here on the shelf ;)
Hi! I'm Maria. Books and films are my passion. Really, what's better than watching a favorite book on film? Nothing!

Hello Dispatches! Interesting name you got :) I hope you'll enjoy this club.
I am currently reading the book too, and also very excited to see the movie again :)

I'm a student, poet and writer. I also have a book review blog: http://cafereads.blogspot.com/ Please follow! Looking forward to discussing movies and books. I try to read the books first, but it doesn't always work out :)

I am from India. I have read and watched Angels& Demons, Da Vinci Code, The Kite Runner.
Now reading "Mahabharata" and the next in list is "Wolf of the Plains".
Eager to read "Lord of the Rings" trilogy which i had watched innumerable times.
Hello Ganesh, welcome to the club!
Impressive book you read now - not many people read epics nowadays. One day I wish to read Mahabharata too. If so interested in epics, history and adventure (as it seems from that book about Genghis Khan's conquests ;), you'll likely enjoy Tolkien's trilogy too. Hobbit at the end of this year should also be very nice treat :)

I'm glad you created this group Zeljka as I am constantly surprised by how many books I read that have been made into movies. Currently reading

Hello Craig, thanks for joining, and for comment! The club was/is made exactly to do that, to expand our awareness of many interesting books and movies that just wait to be read and seen, and to share our thoughts about them with the peers all over the world. I enjoy learning new bits from others and sharing my own of course.
Ira Levin is pretty interesting author, often adapted on screen. We will tackle him one day certainly :)
And (off topic probably), I liked the look of Toronto in Scott Pilgrim :)

Hi Laura, welcome! Great to have in the club someone with better expertise in the field ;) Have you been taught film adaptations yet, if you have such a course in your study?

I have a already made a post or two here before I even remember to introduce myself but here I am and I wanna say hi to all of ya!
Hello Sarah! Disappointments with film adaptations are I believe pretty common among booklovers :) I hope you will like it here then - as we try with every book/film to figure out what went wrong where and why, along with the good sides, if there were any. Different media, different processes, both amazing. And frustrating in some cases ;)

Laura wrote: "No unfortunately I have not done anything regarding film adaptations in my course but I think something along the same lines is taught in English lit at my uni."
Pity there isn't such course, I guess it would be quite interesting addition to your studies. But that makes sense - meaning, that being part of English literature studies - there are many kinds of literary adaptations, not only film, radio and theatre - I mean, I recall even one opposite case, a video game adapted into a book, Starship Titanic :)

By the way, I have just noticed that the club crossed the magical number of 100 members. Nice surprise :D
Without all of you this club wouldn't mean a thing. Thank you all very much!

Welcome Helen! I love British TV and film industry, it rarely disappoints me, especially in historical and crime fiction department. Good luck with writing! Who knows, if not already, we might one day see your name at (screen)writing credits :)

Ok, my turn now :)
My name is Dominika but nearly everyone is calling me by my nickname Dodo. I live in the capital city of Germany.
I was always a book reader and film watcher but never read a book because of a film or watched a film because of a book. This behavior occurred just not long ago.
I prefer to watch the movie before reading the book otherwise I'm almost always disappointed.
I'm reading books of different genres but tend to avoid crime/thriller/horror and books with those half naked men on the cover :)
Same goes for films except in films I like cheesy love stories, especially 3h long cheesy Bollywood films *sigh*

Hi Elly! Great vocation you have, theoretical physics, wow. Sounds very challenging and interesting. So I guess you like science fiction as well :) Although your current reading choice fits perfectly to this month's our genre pick :D

PLEASE tell me you're into The Big Bang Theory! I'm no physicist but sadly enough, I mostly understand what they're saying when they go into all science/techno babble. Good stuff!

t.physics. :)) Did you watch new season? Ok, Ok, I wont be off topic anymore, it's all about the books, afterall.
Elly wrote: "Yes, it is challenging, but if you like something, nothing's too hard ;)) What would that genre be? Comics/zombies? :)"
Oh no, it is not so specific - horror :) Although Battle Royale may fit to thriller and science fiction as well!

Haha no worries, you may chat about whatever you like. Now I am curious about The Big Bang Theory, will put it on To-See list, to know what are you (and they) talking about ;)

I guess it would be appropriate that I as a moderator (currently) break the ice first.
My name is Zeljka, 30-year old Croatian girl, bookworm and avid moviegoer. I am on Goodreads site pretty long, so I am genuinely surprised that nobody didn't consider the club of this kind before -- where would people who love both the books and the movie adaptations of them have a good time together -- therefore I decided to make this one myself. I hope that the other members would follow soon :-)
