Darynda Jones Fans discussion

In the book world authors become our RockStars! We pour over their words as if they were our most cherished lyrics. We spiel about the adventure with the same passion we continuously sing the latest ditty. Their work represents a journey to a wondrous world in which we can watch from afar, join in, or just go for the ride. We know the after effects will leave us breathless and delirious for more. With every book, we as readers score Back Stage Passes to worlds some will sadly never visit. Being a fan is so much more than just loving an author or a character, it's a love for the gamete of emotions we surrender to every time we read a superb book. Darynda Jones is my RockStar! Charley and Reyes the latest hit song! I am a FAN!
What is it about the Charley Davidson series that makes you a fan?

I'm sure this is not the more poetic reason (your text was very poetic btw), but my favourite thing is that Charley makes me laugh. The fact that she doesn't take herself seriously even though she is suffering and struggling makes me want to hug her and make her my best friend. And then the whole grim reaper thing and Darynda's fresh approach to it. It's so hard to put down the books and I can feel my heartbeat rise whenever Reyes comes around. But mostly how human and funny the main character is.

I love snarky, wise ass Charley. I love that she is a character that says the first thing that comes to mind and damn the consequences. I love that in the most dire of situations, she just can't stop and be scared. To Charley it's "Hi, my name is Charley Davidson. I'm THE Grim Reaper, be afraid, be very afraid."

I love a series that will draw me completely into it's world and make me never want to leave. Darynda Jones has created one with the whole package: (as Cindy so aptly put it) a snarky, wise ass heroine and she's the Grim Reaper to boot; a seriously hot alpha male who does whatever it takes to protect those he loves; supportive friends (some ghostly) that make you laugh; family and circumstances that make you cry; and a storyline that leaves you begging for more! I'm a total fangirl and am counting down the days till book 3!

My name is Dana and I'm a Reyes Addict! It's been six months since my last taste!

I adore the fact that Charley knows who and what she is...and that's OK with her. I understand how she gets frustrated with the fact that she has powers and hasen't figured them all out...YET!
Darynda has style and that's what keeps me coming back (that and, here's a shock, REYES). I love her sense of humor and feel that I could sit with her over *gasp* a cup of coffee and just talk...

Hell yes, already plotting out new stuff. Trying to figure out how much time to give the group before we start all the chatter about book 3. I know I'll finish in a day and a half, yet many wont be getting the book right away. We'll have to post *spoiler alerts* everywhere!

Ill stay away from goodreads until i get my hardcover.might be a few days :(

I think I'm going to wait until the 10th what do you girls think? Most of the active members of group plan to get the book right away, so it seems reasonable, what say you?

Yeah, Traci, maybe closer to the 15th, I'll check the calendar and let everyone know. There are about four members of the group that have read book 3, that I know of, and they have been so kind, in not saying anything.

Annii, will you be able to obtain the book before the 15th?

Yeah I should have it at the end of next week.if not ill buy it off itunes. No biggie :)

Mine will arrive on the 2nd of February so I'm ok with the 10th, the 15th or the "spoiler" topic. Either way, I'm like Cindy and I'll run away from all the topics with "spoilers" :)
