Why does Edward even love Isabella Swan??

okay here me out.. I want real answers. Is there anything that Bella actually does that makes Edward love her. I mean shes not particularly anything. What attributes does she have to make a vampire whos lived 100 years or whatever love her. After all people he's seen.. I'm sure even a good portion of those were clumsy too. I don't know I just don't get it. I'm just not sure anything defines her. I mean yes, she accepts him for the "monster" he is. But i'm pretty sure most of us would. I don't find it speacial.

So why do you think he loves her? What makes her special?

Because Meyer wanted him to. Bella is undeveloped character, she doesn't have a true personality, no interests that we see (she says she loves reading but how often does she actually do it? I love reading and I read every single day, never leave house without a book and like to talk about things I read) and she is actually really mean not to mention hypocritical - she thinks one thing and does/says another; she is flat - it is hard to say anything about reasons he could love her because there is pracitcally nothing to Bella other than her mind shield (which is not a part of her personality). I think Edward "loves" Bella only because of the plot and not because she is a person someone could fall in love with.
Try to think about her as a real person, your schoolmate for example - you wouldn't even notice her (yes, Bella is noticed but again only because Meyer wanted her to be noticed not because she was written as a person worth noticing). I don't like when people say that she's ordinary - ordinary people have personality; dreams; goals; ambitions; hobbies that are actually a huge part of their lives. Bella is not an ordinary person - she's barely a person at all; she's just flat. There is nothing that could make anyone - not just Edward - interested in her... unless someone wants a doll that they can control and do whatever they want with.

Because she is perhaps the first girl that hasn't screamed, fainted at the sight of him, perhaps he never found anyone that was gullible enough to love him undyingly and like the beast he chose someone that could unlock his stone cold heart and release him.

I honestly think it's simply because he can't read her mind because if he did he would realize that she's just as shallow as the other people he condemns for such traits.

i think that edward is a try hard bella is way better off with jacob!

It's the circumstance and Bella herself:
Edward's love was definitely one that crept in and grew on him out of the ugliness of wanting to kill her. Sort of inverse of Stockholm, and he studied her(because he couldn't read her mind), his captive, like an experiment. Then, her qualities unnerved him and endeared her to him. This added to the fact that Bella loves him so unconditionally is why he was a goner! Who wouldn't love someone who loved him/her that way? Conversely, Bella's love was infatuation/obsession at first, then she was able to negotiate her love out of her own growth and stubbornness. She decided Edward was IT for her and she seriously invested in it. Someone like her doesn't change his/her mind. That's why when he left, it was so hard.
For both, the love in the end was obsessive, human compulsion. It's fiction, but honest to say, I've seen it happen in real life.

Rhiannon That's a very clever defragmentation of the "love". I suspect if you wrote the books, they would of been a better read Vallsykes. You have more insigh ...more
