Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 372 comments Hi peeps!

Shades of Grey by Michael Cargill

I released my latest book last night so if anyone likes short stories they are (possibly) in for a treat. It is called Shades of Grey. Blurby bit:

John is not a very nice man. He works for the government. So who has tied him to a chair and what do they want? James is a British soldier during WWII. Tom is a young boy with a terrible secret.

Three stories. Three very different people. All of them battling to survive.

It is available on the Kindle store and on Smashwords

Kindle UK

If anyone is willing to write a review on their blog, Amazon or Goodreads then they can use the following code for a free copy from the Smashwords link above.

Code - NT88S

The book is DRM free so can be lent out as desired.

Ada Adams (ada_adams) Hello everyone!

My new YA Paranormal novel is called "ReVamped".

Here is the synopsis:

A simple mission turned deadly.

Nineteen-year-old vampire Dawn has led a sheltered life within the confines of her father’s presidential headquarters. Upon being sent on a mission to revamp four goofy misfits into guardians of a peaceful little town of Angel Creek, Dawn believes that all her dreams have finally come true. What starts off as a simple task, turns into something unexpected, changing Dawn’s life forever and leading the action-loving, thrill-seeking vampire teen on a path of mystery, danger and intrigue.

When a human girl is kidnapped by a group of rogue vamps, Dawn discovers that there is more going on in Angel Creek than meets the eye. And it all connects to Ethan, the cute newcomer who seems too perfect to be true, Sebastian, the mysterious vampire with a turbulent past, and even Dawn herself. Dawn must not only succeed in revamping the troubled recruits, but must also prevent the vampire race from being overtaken by a malevolent villain who has a strange and obsessive fascination with her. As threat escalates, romance blooms, and ghosts from her past begin to surface, Dawn is sure of only one thing: her life will never be the same.

Ian Loome (lhthomson) | 14 comments Thanks for this thread, Emily!

My second novel, The Process Server by L.H. Thomson The Process Server came out yesterday on Kindle and today on Goodreads via ebook. It's a sci-fi-cyberpunk-dystopian-space opera with overtones of sociology and religion. Yeah....not biting off too much there, eh?

My first novel, The Antique Hunters by L.H. Thomson The Antique Hunters is a light romantic farce involving food and furniture, set in the South of France.

Both are a lowly 2.99! Cheers,
LH

Elisabeth | 16 comments The Ranch Next Door and Other Stories by Elisabeth Grace Foley My book, The Ranch Next Door and Other Stories, is available in ebook form and has also just been released in paperback! Here's the description:

A collection of Western short stories that go beyond the standard action and adventure of the genre to focus on character and conflict. In the award-winning “Disturbing the Peace,” honorable mention in the 2010 Rope and Wire short story competition, a sheriff experiences a revelation about himself and his relationship with the people of his town, while in “The Outlaw’s Wife,” a country doctor worries that his young friend is falling for a married woman whose husband is rumored to be a wanted criminal. From the suspenseful “Cross My Heart” to the comedic romp of “A Rangeland Renaissance,” to a Western twist on star-crossed romance in the title story, “The Ranch Next Door,” these stories will appeal to a variety of readers, as well as established fans of the traditional Western.

Sadie Forsythe | 47 comments Hello everyone, I would like to introduce The Weeping Empress. It is an action adventure/fantasy following the exploits of a small band of rebels as they challenge fate, changing the course of history as they go.

The Weeping Empress by Sadie S. Forsythe

synopsis:
Chiyo Alglaeca was happy in her life. That is, until it was all taken away. Forced into notoriety, stalked by a mysterious cult, hunted by the emperor, and facing betrayal at every turn she clings to the only safety she can find: two enigmatic men and the sharp bringer of death, Salvation. The Weeping Empress explores the devastating effects of loss, the hunt for redemption, and the price of destiny. It questions the true meaning of evil and asks what monster is not also an innocent?

It has received good reviews so far, but more is always better. So if you are a blogger interested in a review copy feel free to contact me. For you readers, I intend to run a series of giveaways, so keep your eyes open, add it to your to-read shelves, and cross your fingers.

5/5* “I really liked this book and really liked the characters. Chiyo, Muhjan and Senka have such chemistry. They kept me coming back for more.” Iris – Amazon

5/5* “This is a worthy read. From the very first page you, like the main character, are thrown into the action, keeping you interested in what happens next. The characters are relatable, despite the fictional setting, and the ending leaves you wanting more. Anyone who likes a strong female lead, untenable situations and a little titillation will love this book. I know I did and will definitely read another one of Forsythe’s books.” Barnes & Noble

Nicola Palmer | 10 comments Hello!
These are the first two books in my children's fantasy adventure series. (They have been enjoyed by adults too!)
Alice Parker's Metamorphosis
Thirteen-year-old Alice Parker knows something isn't right; mysterious aches and pains, a craving for sugar that’s out of control. Suddenly she is top of the class in every subject.
Baffled by what is happening to her and feeling at odds with the world, Alice can't take much more. Only when she collapses and experiences a life-changing transformation does she discover why she is different.
But this new, incredible identity brings its own challenges and Alice isn't convinced she can rise to them. She just wants to be normal!
The fact is she's anything but...

Alice Parker and the Mind Magician
Alice Parker has adapted well to her extraordinary new identity and abilities; she’s even beginning to enjoy them.
But mysterious things are happening all around her.
People are behaving very strangely. Something or someone is controlling them – but how? Alice confronts a ruthless, relentless villain, and soon discovers his astonishing power. Where is it coming from? What makes him so different?
Disturbingly, the answers to these questions reveal more about Alice than her sinister enemy.
Nothing, it seems, is coincidence...

There's a giveaway for Book 1 at the moment:

Siobhan Pratt (siobhanpratt) My first novel, Precious Moon, was published on Amazon Kindle in March this year.

http://tinyurl.com/bn3l2ew

Precious Moon is set in 1982, in Argentina, when the Falklands War breaks out. Living in a remote Andean village far from the hostilities, expats Katie and Alex can have no way of predicting how bitter the war will become, and how it will affect their lives, now that they are citizens of the enemy nation.
Argentina has been suffering under the military Junta’s rule of fear since 1976. Thousands of innocent civilians have disappeared in the dead of night, never to be seen or heard from again. The Junta denies the existence of any of The Disappeared, and any involvement with the missing people.
Precious Moon explores the traumatising affect of inexplicable disappearances on those left behind; children, parents, lovers all suffer this unanswerable loss.
Katie and Alex’s close friendships with some of the Argentinean villagers are tested and strained as they insist on remaining in the Andes, despite the fighting in the freezing South Atlantic Ocean.
Precious Moon’s cast of strong characters are fiercely loyal to the country they believe in, and are prepared to fight for liberty from its oppressors.
As the story unravels with unexpected twists providing suspense and intrigue, the characters reveal their complexities, strengths and motivations, as ordinary people who survive and find a way forward in extraordinary circumstances.

Precious Moon is a light and easily readable read that deals with heavy and powerful issues of disappearance, displacement, loss, courage, escape and exile. It fluidly takes you backwards and forwards from Kenya in the 60s to England in the 70s to Argentina in the 80s in a manner evocative of the times and places.

One of my favourite Amazon reviews sums Precious Moon up beautifully:
“Highly recommended to anyone who loves a good read! Precious Moon is an easy story to get into but hard to put down. The richly brocaded story weaves its way through countries, characters and different historical eras all carefully researched and described with such a light hand that you're hardly aware of how much history you're learning. Great characters, intense emotions and the irresistible lure of an unfolding romance against the backdrop of the Andes - what more could you want!”

Terry Tyler (terrytyler) | 3 comments Hello! I've got three books on Amazon, but the one I want to spread the word about is my new one, The Other Side, which I published on May 16th.

If you like reading about love, jealousy, revenge, awful mothers in law, disastrous dinner parties, tales of lost wealth, lost love, lost dignity, all with mystery and twists and quite a lot of funny bits, too, then you should enjoy it!

Here's the Amazon link with the blurb - the first two lines of the blurb have been missed off on here, which I have to remedy when I've found out how!

If it's not your sort of thing, please recommend to a friend!

Reece Upton (rupton) | 1 comments Hello, i am currently writing a massive sci-fi fantasy book series, you can read the first 2 chapters on my profile. the 1st book is currently being published. The series expands across alot of things and is involved with Vampires, werewovles, Chimeras, Robots, Fairies, Dragons and many other aliens. I will soon have a website up and ready as well, so follow me, ask questions and i promise you wont be dissapointed, below is a quick synopsis of the first book. In Memories, we live.

Sara Nova was the great city where Anya would get her answers; it was a few days drive and bandits ruled most of the settlements on the way and that’s where things got stranger, Panther could run faster than a normal human, Falcon could see further than any human and dark secrets hung around Tavaris.

Adrian known as “The Maker” of vampires is planning to exterminate the human race, slowly plotting and planning a war while his twin Alister is working for their older brother Albert trying to find a place called the temple where Adrian hides so they can kill him and the threat of vampires for good.

As an old enemy arises and agreements are made for war to begin and end in three days. Anya must decide which side to choose and the decision to trust her heart or her head could change everything and like a halo death hangs above her because of a curse that runs deep in her blood.

As enemies come together on the plains of fury, they fight for their race, for their freedom and for peace, but all changes when not only old enemies join but new threats arise and a man controlling millions of A.I Robots that outnumbers each race comes to destroy them all.

Lorne Oliver | 4 comments Hi all,
I have released my first ebook Red Island: A Novel It is a thriller showing not only the cop who is chasing the serial killer, but also how the killer became what he would be. Below is the "back" of the book followed by links.

The "Back" of Red Island: A Novel
He watches in plain sight, but nobody sees him. Through his entire life the only time anyone saw him was when they needed someone to push around. This is his world now. He looks for a specific type, a specific woman who he can take and torture and eventually kill. He knows the game. He has learned how to stay hidden, how to do what he does without being caught.

Sgt. Reid of the RCMP moved his family to Prince Edward Island, “the Gentle Island,” to get away from the violent crimes that seemed to stay away from the tiny province. Getting a phone call that wakes him from the nightmare of a girl hanging from a tree bleeding from a thousand cuts throws his life into a whirlwind. Coming face to face with his nightmare threatens the peace of his family and the peace inside himself.

Jaye Frances | 21 comments Hi, everyone,

I'm new to the group, and appreciate the opportunity to join this forum and tell you a little bit about myself and my work. Hope you find something interesting - I'd love to chat with you on this thread!

I've published three books to date. Here's a little info about them:

"The Kure"

The Kure

The Kure by Jaye Frances

John Tyler, a young man in his early twenties, awakens to find a ghastly affliction taking over his body. When the village doctor offers the conventional, and potentially disfiguring, treatment as the only cure, John tenaciously convinces the doctor to reveal an alternative remedy—a forbidden ritual contained within an ancient manuscript called the Kure.

Although initially rejecting the vile and sinister rite, John realizes, too late, that the ritual is more than a faded promise scrawled on a page of crumbling paper. And as cure quickly becomes curse, the demonic text unleashes a dark power that drives him to consider the unthinkable—a depraved and wicked act requiring the corruption of an innocent soul.

Ultimately, John must choose between his desperate need to arrest the plague that is destroying his body, and the virtue of the woman he loves, knowing the wrong decision could cost him his life.

http://www.amazon.com/The-Kure-ebook/...

For those who dare, there is some interesting (and frightening) background info about the history and storyline of "The Kure" on my blog posts of Feb. 6 and 9, titled Myths, Legends and Lies. You've been warned . . .

"The Possibilities of Amy"

The Possibilities of Amy by Jaye Frances

The Possibilities of Amy

Amy is the ultimate trophy girl—gorgeous face, killer body, and a vivacious personality. But there’s something else about her, something that makes her even more special. Amy is new. A transfer student from out of state, she’s starting her senior year without knowing a soul. And that means she’s up for grabs, available.

Infatuated from the moment he sees her, David is determined to meet Amy, and if the fates are willing, to spend the rest of his life with her. But his shyness prevents him from approaching her—until his friends devise a contest to determine who will be the first to prove their manhood by seducing her.

http://www.amazon.com/The-Possibiliti...

This one is especially personal to me. When I attended a high school reunion, I met a man who told me he carried a torch for me all through high school. It got me thinking about all the "secret loves" I had, and a story was born . . .

"The Cruise-All That Glitters"

The Cruise - All That Glitters by Jaye Frances [

[book:The Cruise - All That Glitters|13640648]

It’s love on the high seas for Dean, a thirty-something bachelor taking his first cruise, hoping for a shipboard romance. On the prowl for the elusive hard-body, he quickly becomes disillusioned, wondering if his expectation of a boatload of beautiful sea nymphs is something found only in travel brochures.

Until he meets Angel.

She is the girl of his dreams, brought to life as a bewitching goddess, ready to engage in every sensual delight. Quickly lured into submission by Angel’s seductive charms, Dean is ready to surrender his heart and soul to this provocative beauty.

Until he meets Marcie . . .

http://www.amazon.com/The-Cruise-That...

This was a joy to write, as two of my favorite pastimes are traveling and people-watching. Throw in a good dose of humor and romance, and well, nothing better than hi-jinks at sea!

I've been extremely fortunate to have many fantastic book bloggers offer promotions/spotlights for all three of them. And I'm always open to working with reviewers. Just send me an email and let me know if you are interested.

Thank you in advance for your comments and ideas.

Write a Short Story About Growing Up. Include Three Apples and a Suitcase - two young students plan a creative writing exercise and dream of escape.

Throwing Up With The Joneses - Why are Rob's neighbours being ill so often, and so loudly? The terror on the other side of your neighbour's fence.

The Hero Function - Captain Sharp Johnson saves the world, the galaxy and sometimes the Universe from his trusty starship, the Epicure. But can he break the metanarrative law of diminishing returns?

Seven Deadly Sins: Gluttony - One greedy man finds himself trapped in a Kafkaesque nightmare, with extra bodily fluids.

Too Much Love Can Kill You - Laura wants her little boy to be safe at kindergarten, but her world falls to pieces when she signs up to the nursery's webcam service.

Something Nice currently costs just 72p from Amazon UK, or $1.13 from Amazon.com. It is also available from iTunes, B&N and Smashwords. If you like short stories, please give it a go.

Terry Tyler (terrytyler) | 3 comments Hello - I'd like to just write a bit about my 3 books - YOU WISH, NOBODY'S FAULT, and THE OTHER SIDE.

All three novels deal with human relationships, not just love affairs, and feature ordinary people living in the present time in Britain. They're all funny in parts, very 'now' - I have used the medium of Facebook as a literary device in a couple of them; for instance, YOU WISH features a girl who becomes obsessed with a guy she's slept with a couple of times, and stalks him and his new girlfriend via Facebook.

What people always say about my books is that they can really relate to the characters (sometimes horribly so!), and that the stories are real page-turners; they all include twists which, happily, people never guess! I work hard to make the twists feasible, yet surprising.

I'm working on a 4th at the moment, about a wannabe rock star and his long suffering girlfriend. I'd love it if you would take a look at my stuff! Here are my Amazon pages:

John Logan (johnaalogan) | 70 comments Hello!

I'm an author living in the Highlands of Scotland.
Over the years, I've had contracts with 2 literary agents, and one of the strongest supporters for my 5th novel, The Survival of Thomas Ford, was the film scout who had discovered Slumdog Millionaire as an unpublished manuscript.
I'm currently preparing a new synopsis of that book for my agent to take to film producers.

In the next few weeks, I'll be publishing my second ebook, STORM DAMAGE, a 225-page collection of 9 stories.
Previously, I have had short stories published in paperbacks in most countries of the world, by the major publishers Picador and Vintage in London, with editors selecting my work including John Fowles, A L Kennedy, Toby Litt, Ali Smith.
More details of this are on my website:
www.johnaalogan.com

I published my first ebook, the novel, The Survival of Thomas Ford, as a Kindle ebook on Christmas Day 2011.
The novel is contemporary fiction, set in the Scottish Highlands, what you might call a literary thriller.
So far it has 30 five-star reviews on Amazon UK; and 19 five-star reviews on Amazon US.
I've had 1062 paid sales of The Survival of Thomas Ford so far (not counting 18500 downloads which I gave away as free promotions).
I'm quite happy with this as the result for my first ebook, and have been very happy to hear back directly from readers who enjoyed the novel...so now I am very much looking forward to putting the next book out...which will be followed by another 5 novels I have in pipeline for publication now.

5.0 out of 5 stars A tale of blood and mist, April 17, 2012

This review is from: The Survival of Thomas Ford (Kindle Edition)
First, there is the mystery, which, in and of itself would be enough to warrant reading this book. But ...there is so much more. the writing is often breathtakingly exquisite, and occasionally verges on the poetic, in the true sense of that phrase. Next, this author has a way with mood and atmosphere that allows one to be in the moment of the book. He does this in 2 ways, first through dialog, which, as far as I can tell, is absolutely accurate to the region, without resorting to odd sounding words or phrases. But, even through the filter of a synthesized voice, I can *hear* the Scottish brogue, and the intonations and rhythms of the speech. Next, he uses words to create a faint, but persistent shadow of menace that floats like thin mist, gathering at times to become almost fog. I was always aware of it, lurking there, in the background, and yet, it was done with such a fine touch that I couldn't point to one specific thing, and say "this is what I mean". Put it all together, and you get a satisfying and unforgettable read ...which neatly juxtaposes real danger and even murder by a *very* unpleasant father/son duo, and spiritual, folkloric and mystical overtones to wonderful effect.

In addition, the characters are extremely believable. There is a bit of the hero in each villain, even the worst of them, and a bit of villain in each hero, even the best of them. They act in very human ways, and are motivated by much the same things that motivate all of us.

J.C. (jcjoranco) | 7 comments Hey everyone, my name is Jason Henderson, and I am a writer/author/human being from California. I wrote the novel "HALFWAY TO NOWHERE" for the 2010 Nano (for those not in the know, it was entirely written in approximately 28 days). It's a literary, non-genre style novel, very dark and grey and set in modern day times, and deals with everyday characters (to me the most interesting).

The novel deals with the meaning of life and exploring how the choices we make dictate who we become. That ultimately the meaning of life is different for each and every one of us, and that part of life's journey is that we have to find it. And, sometimes, find it again.

here's the synopsis:

"Alex Smith is an ordinary joe lost in an ordinary world, a cruel and dreary place where nothing turns out as planned. He works the night shift at a dead end job that barely pays the bills, his sleazy landlord swindles any money that's left over, his apartment only a tiny box with roaches for company. His absent father suddenly walks back into his life asking for redemption, his friends gone or unavailable. What makes matters worse is that Alex is taunted by recurring dreams where he wakes to an empty world, where there is no one left around but him, nothing but empty streets and an empty city. Put simply, his life is a boat without oars in a sea of shallow water, and all he wishes for is some inkling to life purpose, a direction to happiness and self worth.

When Lexi, a recently impregnated prostitute crosses his path, he invites her to stay with him for a time until she can get her own life together. This small act of kindness will send him down a bizarre spiral of events that will change his life in a way he never could have predicted, and into a shape that could only come from life itself."

Sherri Moorer (sherrithewriter) I've published several books, but for the sake of berevity I'll just list 3:

Do you like young adult mystery? Then check out
Blurry, a novel about a young woman who's life is turned upside down by an underground lifestyle in her small town started by her ex-boyfriend. Adults have enjoyed this book as well, so there's something there for one and all!

What about something more along the lines of urban fantasy? Then you might be interested in my recently released mystery novel titled Anywhere But Here, where my protagonist battles the demon of depression - literally!

Don't have much time to read, or want to put a lot of money into it? Then check out my suspense novella titled Quarantine. You can pick up this short work about four women that find themselves quarantined at their office for only a dollar.

You can get more information on all of these titles and my other published works at:

So this is my novel that I want to share with the world according to all of your good selves!

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gypsy-ebook/d...

Yes, it's a crime thriller - a tale of murder and mystery set in the Derbyshire Peak District and spanning 30 years. But the story is original and the twist at the end will leave you quite open mouthed!

Be careful what you wish for because when Danny Holdsworth goes in search of the killer of his best friend which has remained an unsolved crime for 30 years, he discovers more about his own identity than he ever could've imagined and it makes him wish he'd left it all well alone!

Ari Abraham | 2 comments Hi all,

Wanted to share this:

Taking the form of a "choose your own adventure" game book, Timedancer: The Lawson File works as an explosive companion to the acclaimed Windows Phone sci-fi app series as well as a standalone sci-fi thriller.

A desperate single mother siphons funds from a mysterious company. A cyber-security specialist finds out, but is silenced and loses his job. A mourning widower tries to track down the people who killed his wife.

The lives of these three people collide and it all seems to link back to a secretive company called The Timedancer Corporation.

Nancy Collins (Nancy_A_Collins) | 2 comments Hey Y'all

Premier Digital Publishing has released several of my Out Of Print novels as ebooks, including my award-winning vampire novel SUNGLASSES AFTER DARK. It has been updated and revised from the original and is now the preferred text.

One spring night in London, heiress Denise Thorne disappears while partying at a nightclub, never to be seen again. That very same night Sonja Blue, a tough-as-nails punk vampire/vampire-slayer, conceived in terror and blood, is born from the city’s gutters. Saved by modern medicine before she could die, she is a living vampire who still possesses a soul and is determined to fight for what remains of her humanity. But as dangerous as hunting vampires proves to be, Sonja’s greatest foe remains The Other, the demonic personality with whom she is locked in a constant battle for control of their shared body. Can Sonja Blue overcome her inner demon in time to rescue an innocent man from the unholy clutches of a depraved televangelist?

Her people have always been different, worshiping other gods and practicing arcane magics – now, they are blamed for the disaster, and mysterious robed prophets appear from the deep desert, naming the tribe as demon-born, cursed by Heaven itself.
