O.K. What about movies?

I'll start with a link I've found (but I don't necessarily agree with the movie choices!). Then I'll add some of my favourites.

Sleepy Hollow: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0162661/
Gothic: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091142/
The Orphanage: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0464141/
The Crow: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109506/
The City of Lost Children: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112682/
The Company of Wolves: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087075/

Most of these are in the above link too. I'm adding Roman Polanski's The Tenant (not sure if it's really gothic or paranormal, but what the hell, it fits): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074811/

I reckon everything that Tim Burton has done is great. Sweeny Todd was wonderful too (but strange with all the singing). And of course the corpse bride.

Might as well add those links too.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street:

The Corpse Bride: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0121164/

I like the tag.

"The Only Thing More Terrifying Than The Last 12 Minutes Of This Film Are The First 92. "

Have to watch out for it.

Yeah! I really enjoy watching Tim Burton's movies! They are so interesting and dark at the same time!

And he is very easy on the eyes, as is Helena.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Sorry, should clarify I meant Johnny Depp, in combo with Helena (in terms of easy on the eyes) not Burton.

Oh yeah! Johnny Depp and Helena Carter make a great team!

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

I just posted a couple of pictures of them (in Sweeny Todd) on our Gothic Tastes facebook page. :)

Johnny Depp is one of my favorites too.

I like Depp best as a pirate :3 xD haha, would Stephen King's Rose Red classify as gothic? I loooove that movie.

I.S. Anderson (Eman1272) | 14 comments I recently saw Snow White and the Huntsman. It had a much darker tone than any Snow White movie I ever saw. Although it did have some flaws and plot holes, I enjoyed the direction they took with the story. I thought Kristen Stuart did very well in the film. I'm not so sure a sequel is a good idea though.

message 20: by Fauuzzie (new)

Fauuzzie (faize) Actually, I view them as a 4-person team: Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Tim Burton, and Danny Elfman.

Together they are unstoppable!!:)

Yes, you are right! A great team. Each one amazingly creative in their own way. :)

I.S. Anderson (Eman1272) | 14 comments Anybody see the Dark Knight Rises yet? I did a couple nights ago and thought it was awesome!

I remember watching a video for The TellTale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe

I saw it a little while ago. The Dark Knight is still my favorite, but it was still pretty good:D

Awesome list! I forgot about Labyrinth! I just loved that movie to death and yet, it was very dark and creepy, but the songs were awesome!!

message 30: by Nenia (new)

Nenia Campbell (neniacampbell) Thanks! OMG. As the World Falls Down is probably one of my favorite songs ever - it's TOTALLY going to be playing at my wedding.

I kind of wish they'd make a sequel. With older Sarah. And romance. Buuuut that's probably not gonna happen. :P

My favorite song in Labyrinth was Dance Magic Dance and Underground. I just got to get the soundtrack for this film! I kind of wish that there was a sequel too, but I guess I see this movie as a stand alone film.

Caroline (carolinecarnivorous) I guess Tim Burton's movies are pretty goth-friendly.
And I'm pretty sure most goths would enjoy the classic old horror films!
I don't really watch movies though, so..
And especially not horror movies! I get so scared. (Bonus points for not being stereotypical!)

I agree that most of Tim Burton's films are pretty tamed (with the possible exceptions of Sleepy Hollow and Alice in Wonderland), so they would be pretty good for the younger audience.

message 34: by Caroline (new)

Caroline (carolinecarnivorous) Lost Boys and Near Dark just popped up on my Tumblr dash - It's apparently their 26th anniversary!
They seem like pretty gore-y vampire movies, if anyone are interested.
