Hello. I'm just starting in the MLiS program at the University of Rhode Island. I think I want to focus on academic librarianship, but I'm just starting out, so we'll see! ~Lauren

I'm also just starting out in the MLIS program at San Jose State and I'm undecided about my direction. What will the economy be like by the time I graduate? What will be the status of libraries? It's all so hard to predict. My networking contacts are in public libraries where they currently have a hiring freeze. I can see myself as a public librarian, but I can also see myself as a librarian at a law firm. Then there's a part of me that wants to be a cataloging theorist writing books about cataloging. Another part of me wants to write about library history. I love history so I could be an archivist. I think I'll keep my options open for now.

I'm in the MLS program at University of North Texas and I'm also getting a Master's Certificate in Management. My focus is Academic libraries, but I'm trying to leave as many doors open as possible.
