Hooked-on-Books discussion

I usually never like main character in books it's always the secondary characters I like for some reason... I like characters with tragic backgrounds and characters I can feel for.
What comes to mind is Dustfinger fromInkheart.
I loved ever minute he was mentioned in the first book. Unfortunely, I cared less and less about him as the trilogy went on.
Worst: I guess Lucy from The Sea of Trolls she was just very stupid and got Jack in trouble all the time. Which bugged me to no end.
Another is Edward from Twilight he just seemed really plain other than the fact that he's a vampire. Plus, he's a stalker. O.O Bella is also super plain too.
I haven't read too many books with decent villians in them so I can't say who's the best.
