The wonderful boyfriend gave me a copy of the "Foodnetwork Magazine" for March 2012, which is their chocolate issue. In it were 2 interesting items.

Research shows that people with a sweet tooth are 46% more generous than those without.

The other item I read (which ties neatly into this) is a woman named Gretchen Holt Witt, who was recently named a L'Oreal Woman of Worth for her charity, Cookies for Kids with Cancer. She lost her son to pediatric cancer, but rallied friends and neighbors to bake over 100,000 chocolate chip cookies as a fundraiser for the hospital her son was in. Now,her charity encourages home bakers to have a bake sale and her charity will distribute the funds to 5 of the top pediatric cancer hospitals in the country.

Another big help is The Great American Bake Sale to help Share Our Strength to end Childhood Hunger.

It may not be baking, but it is fun and does good.

www.dinnernotart.com is Kraft's site dedicated to online macaroni art (thus saving the macaroni for dinner instead). You can use your computer or your ipad. Make your art, glue and post it. Kraft will make a donation to Feeding America for every macaroni saved. It's all free and you may see your art displayed.

Again, not so much with the baking, but it does involve food.

This was in the October "Parents" magazine. If you are worried about how much candy your child(ren) will get this year, use this site to find a donation place that will reward your child with prizes for their candy. The candy will be sent to deployed troops in care packages via Operation Gratitude
