Thanks for posting here, Lisa Kay. Mercy Thompson would be perfect, but I've already read them all. :-(
Yes, CaroB, that is who I used, but I don't think Willa wants to use her. Thanks, though. ☺@ Willa I was going to start the Anna Pigeon Mysteries series. She a Forest Ranger (loves nature). Don't know if you are into mysteries.

I read a book a long time ago that was about a red-headed young woman who was half Arab/half English. Salient points:• She grew up in an Arabian country (can't remember which).
• Her mother has died and she, her father, and half-brother go to England where they take her to a casino. She is beautiful, so she catches Sir Justin’s eye (pretty sure that is the name). But he thinks she is the property of one of the men she is with.
• He father is quite over-protective and already has the guy she is going to marry picked out (he is her half-brother’s best friend).
• Sir Justin is a rich lord and a scientist and the virginal heroine hides in his car to get away from her family.
• When the H/h finally "do the deed" they are tracked down by her family; a "shot-gun" wedding ensues. However the H/h determine to be "just friends."
• His aunt owns a horse stables and the heroine goes to work there, and live in a garage (?) apartment? However, the apartment is used by others for assignations.
• The aunt has remarried to a man who cheats on her. She has a son who hates his step-father.
• One of the young girls meeting for the illicit apartment sex is killed because she is pregnant; however, who killed her, as she was sleeping around.
• I thought this was a Catherine Coulter book, but it isn’t. It has a title similar to Desert Moon/English Rose or vice versa. Some combination like that.
Any ideas?
They found it! It was Desert Rose, English Moon. It is just that GoodReads and Shelfari abbreviated “English”. Desert Rose Eng Moon
Anyway, I remember it really rocking my boat back in the day. I wonder if it still holds up? It would certainly work for “Jasmine”.
Thanks, Willa!BTW, I thought of one you might like. The heroine does both: ...protagonist disguises herself as a man or enlists in the army.
I just read To Catch a Bride by, Anne Gracie. It would work for Mulan. The female lead dresses as a boy.
It Sleeps in Me
would fit for a Pocahontas one, the heroine is a Native American and a shaman. I haven't read it myself, so idk if it's good or not, but it's on my TBR. :)

Pocahontas
- Native American, shaman
- shaman
- Native AmericanMulan
- Chinese descent heroine who is "also be able to kick some serious ass"
- disguises self as man/boy
- disguises self as boy and kind of joins the army
- Chinese descentPrincess Jasmine
Esmeralda
- Gypsy
Any other suggestions for Jasmine. She is the only one I have left. I added Desert Rose -- English Moon to my TBR pile, but still looking to find a copy of it.

Anywayz...
We need help with:
Pocahontas:
Read a book where the protagonist is Native American, loves nature, or displays shamanic powers. You can also read a retelling of Pocahontas.
Princess Jasmine:
from Aladdin
Read a book where the protagonist is of Arabic descent or is named Jasmine. You can also read a retelling of Aladdin.
Mulan:
Read a book where the protagonist is Chinese (or of Chinese descent), she must also be able to kick some serious ass. Read a book where the protagonist disguises herself as a man or enlists in the army.
Esmeralda:
From The Hunchback of Notre-Dame
Read a book where the protagonist is a Gypsy or read a book where the character has a pet goat (this should be interesting). You can also read a retelling of The Hunchback of Notre-Dame.
Megara:
From Hercules
Read a book where the protagonist has a low opinion of men and is cynical about love. You can also read a retelling of Hercules.
