Monster series

Tess,If you like paranormal romance more than urban fantasy, try Kresley Cole's Immortal After Dark Series. The character, Nix is hysterical in the series. Karen Marie Moning's Fever Series is great. For hot, sexy vampires, Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series is a must. Some believe Adrian's series to be too similar to J. R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series, but I personally like Midnight Breed better.
If you prefer urban fantasy, try Kim Harrison Hallows / Rachel Morgan series. It is about a witch and her pixy and vampire bounty hunter partners. The pixy is LOL funny.
I hope I have given you a few ideas. :)

Mel...did you read Darker After Midnight? Was the last BREED novel...
I read it...I saw that on this blog but cannot find anything in Adrian's sites to that effect. Maybe she changing the series but keeping some of the main characters now with the war at the end of the book (trying to be vague to prevent spoilers). It was a nice feel good ending with all the main characters happy...like the series was ending though. I am sad :(. I look forward to those books. I just began reading the Brotherhood series and I am not taking to it like I did the Breed series. I judge how good a series or a book is by how quickly I must read it to determine how it end. With the Brotherhood, I can go a while without finishing...a great book I can't put down. Anyhoo..I really hope we get to hear more about the characters soon. I was not prepared to let them go.
OK sweets...try Lynsay Sands "Argeneau Vampires"...They are so funny. I Have all of Lynsay Sands books, they're just that good!
Fever series is more on the track of what I'm looking for. Like hot romance is key but I dont want it to be a romance book per se. Ilona Andrew's Magic series is also on the right track. So I actually have read and loved the Aisling Grey Series, the Queen Betsey series, the fever series, some black dagger books, some breed books, & some hollows books. I'm going to try Lyndsay Sands Argeneau books and i'd never heard of the Minda Webber books before so thanks everybody!
Also Jeanine Frost is great and Rachelle Mead's succubus and i also like the Dark Swan series from her as well.
I love Jeanine Frost and think anyone who is a fan of charley would like her writing style too. Another good author is Linda Robertson her first book is Viscous circle her series has witches, vamps, fairies, and werewolves, the further you get into the series she adds some very unusual creatures, this series has romance in it but there isn't really any sex intill the 2nd book and then maybe one sex scene per book but there is a love story that is developing as the series goes on. two other authors I like are Cheyenne McCray/Forbidden Magic and Gena Showalter/Lords of the Underworld
I read a lot :) Have you read any Sylvia Day she just started a fallen angel series which I thought was ok it was a good filler book but not wonderfulChristina Dodd had a great paranormal series Shiloh Walker has a good mix of paranormal to murder mystery one of my favorite includes psychic fbi agents. Kay hooper has her bishop series that is different types of psychic agents I love this series. Karen Chance, Keri Arthur, Hannah Jayne/underwraps, Shadow reader/Sandy Williams I just read this one and liked the different take on the fairy world. Hope this helps lol I only posted ones that I had been willing to read more of. Karen Chance isn't my all time favorite though but it is a good read.

Nawnee...I'll have to keep you in mind when I cannot decide what to read. You have read a lot. Wow!
that's nothing I didn't even look stuff up to remind my self or go to my bookshelves to get ideas that was just ones that were written good enough to leave an impression, my book challenge for the year was to hit 200 books and I'm already at 53 and that doesn't include some kindle books I've read cause I keep forgetting to add them lol
Traci wrote: "The Jaye Wells Sabina Kane series is really good as well. Giguhl is hilarious!"I love that series!! Nicole Peeler's books are also fantastic. Both are wickedly funny.
But honestly, the only other author that makes me laugh as much as Darynda is Ethan Day. He writes comedic m/m contemporary romance, so it's not even close to the same genre as First Grave on the Right. But the rapid-fire comedic style is the closest I've found. :)

Have you read any Christopher Moore his books are wacky and hilarious totally unlike any other paranormal author I've found he def has a genre all his own. Even my 14 yr old son likes his humor and gets a kick out of his books.
Hannah Jayne first book is Underwraps is a funny read the main character works in a paranormal agency but she's the only human she's immune to magic and that's why she got hired but boy does she get into some funny situations plus there's a hot detective she ends up working a case with that isn't all he seems there are 2 books out in this series and I can't wait for the third
I work in a romance book store and there isnt any authors mentioned above that arent popular. Here are a few (Dozen)authors (that I didnt see in my brief scan of the bove posts) I would recommend if anyone is still looking for new authors,
Thea Harrison's Elder Races series
Ilona Andrews's Kate Daniels and The Edge Series
Nalini Singh's Psy/Changeling and Guild HUnter (Archangels) series
Deborah Cooke's Dragonfire and Dragon Diaries series (If you love Death and the Girl Next Door you will like the Dragon Diaries series its the next generation from the Dragonfire series)
Jennifer Ashley's Shifters Unbound series aka Allyson James's Dragon and Storwalker series
G.A. Aiken's Dragon Kin series
J.D. Tyler's Alpha Pack series
Patricia Briggs's Mercy Thompson series
Amber Benson's Calliope Reaper-Jones series (Death's Daughter is the first book, Calliope's dad is Death and she has to take over the family buisiness when he is kidnapped)
Rachel Caine's Morganville Vampires is also good
I also enjoyed The Selection by Kiera Cass there was a bit too much teenge angst but to me it was a mix of the Bachelor and Hunger Games which I found quite interesting... book #2 is due April/May and so is the tv series
You might also try the wonderful Jane Yellowrock series by Faith Hunter and the Kara Gillian series by Diana Rowland. Both are great! For sheer fun, try R.L. Naquin's Monster in the Closet--laughs and adventure!
I just finished reading Darkness Dawns by Diane Duvall which is part of her Immortal Series. It's an interesting take on vampires. I'm going back to start book two until Darynda's next book :)

There's another author I forgot to mention Molly Harper Who also has a quirky sense of humor. Even the titles are funny, such as the care and feeding a stray vampires

Yeah I will be reading the naked werewolf books soon
Thanks everyone! I think im going to try Dianne Duvall next! But of course I would love many more recommendations.
In between Charley books, try these. Very funny with a kick-ass heroine and sexy, brooding hero:
Also totally second the Dianne Duvall recommendation. And anything by Robyn Peterman is fabulous.
