What's the longest you will allow yourself to procrastinate with your writing?

I've had periods where I've procrastinated for months between projects. I wouldn't recommend it as a standard practice, because writing is like any other habit: once you fall out of it, it's harder to get it back. That said, sometimes I gestate and need down time after finishing a novel I've been working on for a year or more.
