Saga (Mishamigo♥) wrote: "I love this book! I think Lena is a little weak-ish but still :)"I definitely agree that Lena is kind of a weak character. But I hope that she has lots of character development and becomes a stronger person in the next book or throughout the series, depending on how many books there are.
this is one of the most interesting books i have ever read. the way lauren oliver writes is simply amazing :)

Barbara wrote: "Is this the first in the series or is there a book before it that I should read first?"Delirium book is the first in the series. And the sequel is Pandemonium. You should read them :) They are good. I thought the concept of love being a disease was really interesting, I haven't read anything like that before.
Thanks for the help, Jammie. I have it but didn't want to read it if it was in the middle of the series. I'm reading another book now and then I'll read Insurgent so maybe this will be the one after that.
I AM COMPLETELY IN LOVE WITH THIS SERIES!!!I never had a problem with Lena (love the name btw) but Alex has always been my fav character! <3 truely recommend it.
Let's just start off with saying that I'm a hard core Team Alex fan.So I hope she ends up with him and I don't want to say anything more because of spoilers.
No problem Barbara :) I know the feeling. I have almost bought books that are in the middle of a series without realizing. Glad I could help. I want Insurgent so bad! My bookstore won't have it for another 2 days or more :@ I am getting so frustrated.
Love this series! I must agree though that Lena definitely doesn't seem to be very "weak" in Pandemonium! She definitely steps up her game a lot in Pandemonium! Can't wait until Requiem comes out next year! BTW I am SO Team Alex!!!!! =)
I loved this book, the series is wonderful.Though I might be a little tainted, don't think I can dislike anything that she writes after I read before I fall. I loved it.
I heard about Delirium through Elle Fowler's glitterature and I got a little worried when she said how horrible the ending was. But I read it anyway and I LOVED it. I read Pandemonium too and I think my heart stopped at the end.

I loved this book!~ So so amazing. I love love love Alex! He kind of reminds me of Finnick from the hunger games! Lena is a good character, but she is lacking a back bone. By the end of the book she does grow up though. I hate Aunt Carol with a fiery passion.I didn't find the ending all that sad really.
I guess it was too much going on to fully wrap my mind around what happened. I heard about this book through Elle Fowler and she told us she started sobbing, so I thought the end was going to be heart-breaking, so I told my mom to read the end and (!) tell me if he died. Silly! I know! Anyway I loved it!
Delirium is my pick for BEST YA of 2011 ... it's THAT good. Hana is a great character that I fell in love with right away- I hope she plays a large role in the story as the novels continue. I'm halfway through Pandemonium (the sequel) currently.
GO AWAY JULIAN OR I WILL BREAK EVERY BONE IN YOUR BODY UNTIL YOU DIE SCREAMING!!!! Then I will kick you savagely unil I die.
Probably my favorite book with the most romance. I loved Delirium, but Pandemonium made me love it even more. I can't wait for Requiem. =D Great story with amazing and has tons of inspirational quotes. =)

love love love it.
really like the romance in it, sometimes it can be a little forced but I think this was good.

how come you liked it better?
Really? I loved Divergent, Delirium was just sort average for me. I really liked it, but I super LOVED Divergent. Why did you guys like it better? Just out of curiosity. Everyone has different tastes.
Well, I hadn't heard of either of these series until I joined this group. I put myself on the list at the library and should be able to get Delirium by next week. There were over 50 people on the waiting list for Divergent. That does say a lot about that series, so I decided to buy those ones. I will keep you all posted on which I like better once I read them both!

Sorry it took me some time to notice this was here. I like Lauren Oliver's writing SO Much more. Her writing is more intricate, seems more thought out, and just... more refined. I also felt that Divergent has some holes in it- flimsy world building in my opinion.
Who have read Hanna (Delirium 1.5)? When I finished it I was kinda shocked. It was good to know Hanna's point of view though.

YES!! exactly! Personally, I wish that Delirium was getting the same attention that Divergent is getting. I think Lauren Oliver's writing deserves attention!
I wasn't really all that surprised reading Hana. I had suspected it when I read Delirium and Hana just confirmed it.
