Hunger Games was awesome as well but I I liked Divergent alot!I reread it like ten times and still rereading it!!the problem with HG was that I didnt like the second and the third book that much, but still it was amazing!!!
I bought it a year ago and I've read it like eight times already. I love the whole idea of her world, and the characters.
I read Divergent before I read Hunger Games and I wonder if it ruined it for me. Hunger games was good but Dovergent was fantastic. I felt no great connection to Katniss and Peeta. Divergent just wowed me and I talked about it for days. I am reading it again to get cought up for Insurgent. It sounds like it is even better.
Hmm. . . That's really interesting. I read Divergent after I read Hunger Games, both of which I love. But I haven't re-read HG since reading Divergent. I wonder if it will have any affect on how much I like it. I am also re-reading Divergent to get ready for Insurgent. I still don't have it yet! :( The bookstore I pre-ordered it hasn't got it in yet.
I love both books but Divergent is my favorite. I still haven't read Catching Fire and Mockingjay. T hey are staring at me from my bookshelf but will have to wait. I now have Insurgent and plan to read it first.
I want Insurgent so bad :'( Getting so frustrated with the book store for not having it in yet. You should definitely read the last two books in the HG series when you have a chance. I didn't like how the whole series ended, but I like the turn the story takes in the last two books.
Shame on your book store! They must have many frustrated readers!I have heard that the third book was a let down. Doesn't matter. I will read them and decide for myself. HG was an interesting book and I feel compelled to read to the end. Everybody has different expectations and I find that comments make it interesting but ultimately I read a book because the content appeals to me.
Insurgent was great. I thought it was just as good as the first if not better, you defenintly need to read it.
I know! Surely there must be. I am going to call a different book store today to see if they have it in. Haha. That's a good idea :) It's true too, even if someone else hates a book you may love it. Everyone has different tastes and opinions :) I hope that you like them :)

I'll be sure to let you know. If they are as good as HG I am sure I will like them also.
I'm in the middle of reading it right now, and it's very good. The only thing I don't particularly like about it, is how it seemed to be anti-Christian to some degree. In the book, the characters pick a faction to belong to. Abnegation, Erudite, Candor, Dauntless, or Amity. In other words, by choosing a faction, you choose what you think is making the world go wrong: violence, cowardliness, dishonesty, selfishness, or ignorance.
As a Christian I believe going against God, is what makes the world go wrong. And while the above can all lead to going against God, I think the idea that there are certain actions alone, rather than what we do that is contrary to God's will, that create evil, is wrong, and can make people act like it is the truth.

If your bothered by people who don't have the same beliefs as you, then I would advise you to never leave your house.
It's not like there is no religion in it. Tris says that not all abnegation are religious but her family is. Just because it isn't a central theme doesn't mean that the story is some what against it. And I'm sure the author didn't intend it to be that way, even if it came across to you that way. Please spoiler tag for Insurgent for those of us that haven't read it. Thanks.
I love Tris and Four together. I greatly dislike Twilight. I think Bella is a really weak character, and Edward just creeps me out. And as weird as it is, I am not a huge fan of Katniss and Peeta either. I like them individually as characters, and I like reading about them together and all that, but I just don't love it as much as everyone else, maybe the movie ruined them for me. Haha. But yes, I love Tris and Four together :D They are just so adorable.
I agree with you Jammie about Tris and Four. As for Twilight and Bella and Edward, I am thankful for the series in that it introduced me to YA/PNR and for that I am so grateful. Katniss and Peeta left me cold. I never felt the connection. I cherish all of these books:) And I am now a huge fan of dystopian books also.
It's cool. Everybody has different tastes :D Sometimes I am sad that it's Twilight that gets people into reading or a new genre because there are so many better books. But this is purely because I don't like them. Although I loved The Host :) I am going through a big dystopia thong at the moment :P Hunger Games got me into it. Which I feel proud to say I read before I knew there was a movie :P
I am now really into dystopia and also have discovered that I like steampunk. There are so many new genres. Hunger games was great but Divergent really grabbed me. I have not seen the HG movie and have heard mixed comments about it. Really look forward to it.
I started lving dystopia when I read Hunger Games and I loved it. I get why people don't like Katniss and Peeta together but I do, and I think it's much better then Katniss and GALE. God, I hate Gale. I thin there is a connection there and Katniss is just so "no I can do it all by myself" that she supresses it. I liked the Twilight books (not as much as Hunger Games) but the movies were awful. Kristen Stewart cannot act to save her life. I was all for the girl who played the lead in the movie Ice Princess, to play Bella but that didn't work out I guess. Divergent may be better than Hunger Games for me but I don't know. I loved Delirium too and Matched is pretty good. Can't wait to read more series like these. PS. I agree the Hunger Games movie was awesome. I love Jennifer Lawrence and think she was a perfect Katniss.
I just finished Divergent today and loved it so much I immediately downloaded Insurgent. I'm hooked. But then I got to thinking I'm reading these so fast that I will have a long time to wait for the third one. I think this is the best dystopian series as of yet.
I had never really read anything dystopian before I picked up Hunger Games, now I am in love with it. I love steampunk too. I have only read two books/series that are steampunk. I read the Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare, and they are amazing I love them. And I also read The Girl in the Steel Corset, which I didn't really feel captured the time very well. So I've been kind of hesitant to read more. I really want to read the Leviathan series, they sound awesome :D I was not a big fan of the movie. But you should definitely see it. It seems most people loved it :) I just want Insurgent now! Stupid book store :@
I agree it's addicting. I finished Divergent on Monday and thought I would have to wait months to read the second one but it came out the next day and I was sooo excited. I got it Wednesday night and finished it Thursday afternoon. Cannont wait for the third one. But read Insurgent now it's amazing. And the wait will make the third even better :)
Thanks Allie. I am definitely enjoying this and when I finish this one I have the Trylle trilogy waiting on me and also Amy Plums new book is out on may 8!!
I didn't get into the Trylle trilogy. I only got about 20 pages into the first book. But I have considered going back to it. Curious as to where the story goes. Same day as City of Lost Souls!! :D I am excited for Until I Die too :D
Yeah, definitely. That's an interesting one. Like you said it will definitely be a uncommon word. I just read a post about the faction names and one of the reasons that she chose the words were because they weren't very commonly known words. Which makes it more interesting :)

So excited to read Until I Die! I really enjoyed Die for Me and I didn't think I would. I really liked the idea of revenants. Cant wait to continue the series.

Based on what happened in Insurgent I think the title will either be Convergent (def. coming closer together) or more likely Emergent (someone in the process of being or becoming prominent). I think she'll defenintly stick with the "ent" ending. It would be kind of awkward if she did it with the first two books and didn't with the third.
Allie wrote: "Bryn wrote: "I'm in the middle of reading it right now, and it's very good. The only thing I don't particularly like about it, is how it seemed to be anti-Christian to some degree. In the book, th..."
I'm not. I just don't give a ton of support to books that go against beliefs that I feel passionately about.
Natalie wrote: "Conciliator means conclusion, or end of. But Convergent and Emergent sound interessting as well. All of them end with "ent" Divergent, Insurgent. "Ent" means "A word ending that indicates perform..."
A couple others would be Resurgent or Assurgent.
Everyone raves about it but i'm not a fan of dystopia (I hated matched and thought that the whole president snow stuff ruined the 2nd and 3rd hunger games) so i dont know whether i'll like divergent :/
Mehwish wrote: "Hunger Games was awesome as well but I I liked Divergent alot!I reread it like ten times and still rereading it!!the problem with HG was that I didnt like the second and the third book that much,bu..."Me too! I was actually disappointed with the end of HG saga! I mean the first one is so good, it makes difficult for the others. I had huge expectations!
Elisha wrote: "Everyone raves about it but i'm not a fan of dystopia (I hated matched and thought that the whole president snow stuff ruined the 2nd and 3rd hunger games) so i dont know whether i'll like divergen..."Matched wasn't the best. It was okay to me, but I have read many much better books. Divergent is really different to the Hunger Games, like Natalie said, there are a few very minor similarities, but only in that way that dystopias do because they focus on the same kind of thing. It's really different to Hunger Games, I think you should give it ago. But dystopia just might not be your thing :)
Matched was kind of weak. I think Cassia is just a weak character who kind of reminds me of Bella from Twilight while Tris and Katniss are much stronger. However, I still liked it and read the second one and plan to read the third. And if she chooses Xander in the third I'll defenintly like it much more :)
I want to read this but I am afraid I will be disappointed because the HG was soo good. I am afraid to read another book like it, ya know?
Samantha I totally get what your saying. When you read a great book (like HG!) it's easy to think that nothing can top it and you almost feel like you're cheating on the book by reading a similar one. But you will not be dissapointed by Divergent. It's even more addicitive then HG but different enough that it doesn't feel like a copy. Defenintly read it. Seriously. Like now lol.
I totally agree with you Samantha. But like Allie said, it is like the same genre, and you worry it's like not going to be as good or too similar. But I love Divergent just as much as I love the Hunger Games, so now every other Dystopian I read has two series to live up, and they don't usually live up to them for me. I haven't gotten around to reading the second Matched book yet, is it worth reading? I didn't love matched, but it was interesting I guess. Like you aid Allie I didn't like Cassia, and I felt like she only wanted to be with Ky for the reasons that they were trying to prove. I might borrow Crossed out from the library when I get the chance.
I know it is kind of, totally irrelevant. But I read an article yesterday that was pointing out the differences between post-apocalyptic and dystopian stories, and if you think about Hunger Games is really a lot more of a post-apocalyptic than it is a dystopian. Although it does have some dystopian themes. Just thought that was interesting. Not trying to start arguments or anything.
It doesn't bother me too much in Hunger Games and Divergent. And don't they mention like a war in the Hunger Games? Capitol as in the people in the Capitol or the leaders? Because I think the people are just going about how they think they are supposed to, and the people like president Snow it's all about the power, having control of everything. Well, that's how it is for me. I recently read The Hunt by Andrew Fukuda, and the lack of history in that bothered me. I would have liked a little insight on how Vampires came to rule everything.
