This is the brand new shadow hunter books set in 2012 by Cassandra Clare. There not bought yet not even written yet but what we do know is ....

set in 2012 in LA
main characters are Emma Carstairs and Julian ____ (teens) -> We’ll get to know his surname in City of Lost Souls
some characters from TDA will appear in CoLS, we have to watch out for kids who are eleven or 12 years…

So everyone any ideas to what these books might be about?.

Noor (noor_a) | 142 comments Im not sure if Cassie Clare has said this but I think Emma and Julian are parabatai. I think the story is about them falling in love. (Which you might know is against Shadow Hunter rules)

I read that they were parabatai but not that they fell in love! Now I really wish that she would make it official and publish them!

Were going to meet some of the main characters in CITY OF LOST SOUlS but obviously a few years younger, that's really interesting! Oh and also if this series does get published , there's going to be glimpses where it shows clary and jace and the other a few years later!!!. Ahhh

message 7: by Noor (new)

Noor (noor_a) | 142 comments IKR! I mean it makes sense that they fall in love, we've heard the stories that they can't and its forbidden, many have asked what happens when parabatai do fall in love (this might be clare's ans for them) and we know they are the main characters (and in all cassie clare books, the main characters fall in love)! I hope she writes and publishes these books!

So — this was the fun news I was promising. It broke before I actually thought it was going to!

Basically: The Dark Artifices is a go! After a lot of discussion with my publisher, it’s definitely happening — the books are being scheduled, we’re all psyched, and I’ve been looking forward to getting to tell you for weeks!

There’ll be more details tomorrow, but in the meantime:

NEW YORK,  March 12, 2012– Cassandra Clare, award-winning #1 New York Times bestselling author of “The Mortal Instruments” and “The Infernal Devices” series, has signed an agreement with Margaret K. McElderry Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing, for a third young adult fantasy series featuring her immensely popular Shadowhunters. The new series will be entitled “The Dark Artifices.”

“The Mortal Instruments” series—which includes City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Glass and City of Fallen Angels—and “The Infernal Devices” series—which includes Clockwork Angel and Clockwork Prince—have gone on to become New York Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, and Publishers Weekly bestsellers. City of Lost Souls, the fifth installment in “The Mortal Instruments” series, will be published in all formats on May 8, 2012.

The first book in “The Dark Artifices” is scheduled for publication in 2015. Set against the glittering backdrop of present-day Los Angeles, the series follows Emma Carstairs, the fiercest warrior and most skilled young Shadowhunter since Jace Wayland, and Emma’s sworn partner in arms, Julian Blackthorn. Despite Emma’s complicated feelings for Julian, the two must band together to investigate a demonic plot that stretches from the warlock-run nightclubs of the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica.

Cassandra said: “Simon and Schuster has been a wonderful home for the Shadowhunter books for many years, and I am so excited to be able to embark on this new adventure with them. I know readers will come to love Emma, Mark, Cristina and Julian just as they have loved Jace, Clary, Will, Tessa and Jem. Readers have often asked what will happen in the Shadowhunter world after the events of the Mortal Instruments and this series will give them a chance to find out.”

I can’t wait for you guys to meet the TDA characters. It’s going to be amazing. :)

For the People that don't have tumblr I'm posting all the Q&A questions from Cassandra Clare in the folder named obviously Q&A Dark Artifices she's just answered a lot of questions about the series

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

“andlookatmeimwearingavegtable asked you:
Will Magnus be in the Dark Artifices seires? or any of the TMI characters since it’s only set 5 or so years later?”
Ditto really questions about the other characters. I will say that TDA takes place five years after the events of TMI. Surviving characters from TMi will be 22, 23 years old. They’re also pretty famous in the TDA world (as you can see from the summary and Emma’s desire to be as badass “as Jace Lightwood.”) They’re old enough to have jobs … to have gotten married … to have had kids … or not … but we will find out. I just can’t tell you details, because then you know who lives. And that’s not fair play a’tall

Hollywood Crush: How will the events of "The Dark Artifices" mesh with the world of "The Mortal Instruments"?
Cassandra Clare: I realized that as long as I was writing "The Mortal Instruments" I would be stuck in 2007, 2008, because anything beyond that and the main characters age out of teenagerhood, which is the life period the books are about. But I wanted to push forward into the current day, so "The Dark Artifices" takes place in 2012. Five years after the events of "The Mortal Instruments." That would make the characters of "TMI"—Clary, Jace, Simon—22, 23 years old (well, the ones who survive, anyway!). We'll be able to check in with them and see who's still together and who broke up, who's married, who has what job, what they're like as adults.
oh my god! i hope it shows jace and clary married!

At the beginning they mentioned Helens brother who I think was asking Clary if she had a brother and anyway he was the right age his last name was blackthorn or something I think. Sorry I don't have the book with me but he is in COLS right after clary gets told that they are stopping the search for Jace

message 33: by Nilum (new)

Nilum (nilum_x) Emma has dedicated her life to the eradication of demons and being the best, fastest and deadliest Shadowhunter since Jace Lightwood

OMG PLEASE TELL ME THAT THIS DOES NOT MEAN ONE OF THE 6 PEOPLE THAT CASSANDRA CLARE IS INSISTING ON KILLING IS JACE!!! SEE THE TENSE THERE 'SINCE'.....!!!!

message 34: by Allison (new)

Allison Janezic (allilj) | 120 comments We will find out... But it says SINCE Jace Lightwood. So that could imply that it means no other Shadowhunter INCLUDING Clary is as fast as he is. Or that in COHF he may become even greater than he is now. So all will be compared to him afterward. Setting the bar so to speak.

Yes I wondered this too. I would have thought that killing of Jace would be along the lines of killing off Darcy in the new Bridget Jones book.....people will be p****d so she won't do it. But i've just finished 'A Storm of Swords: Blood and gold' which is part two of book three of 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series (Game of Thrones). This is the book which the next series will be based on and it's a blood bath. Joffrey, Tywin, Shae, Ygritte, Lady Lyssa of the Vale, all toast lol so I don't think it would surprise me anymore if Jace was killed off although I would be angry.

message 36: by Paige (new)

Paige Yin (paigeyin) | 56 comments My feeling here, if Jace is killed at the end, true it will hurts a lot of people, but it isn't surprising. I mean, at the rate he jumps into danger headfirst, how he still live must be simply based on luck (sounds like Harry Potter all over again), but yeah, we will see what Clare decided to give us when we get COHF.
