Last night I was up way too late reading John Green's new book, The Fault in Our Stars. How about you? Have you ever stayed up all night reading a book because you just couldn't put it down? What was it? Why was it so great?

Timothy Hinkle (neutronflow) | 17 comments The most notable occasion on which I stayed up all night to finish a book was the final night of summer vacation before I started the fifth grade. I devoured my way through hundreds of pages of Terry Brooks's The Sword of Shannara and, just as I reached the final page, it was time to go to school. Somehow, the thrill of the novel lingered with me through the whole day, keeping me from drifting off in class.

I suspect I wouldn't be quite as impressed with it if I reread it today.

Britt, Book Habitue (britt--bookhabitue) | 779 comments I often stay up way too late reading! The most recent was probably Out Of My Mind, a beehive nominee-- what an AMAZING book!
The first book I really remember staying up too late for (like until 5 am) was Sybil, about the woman with 16 personalities. That was in college.

(Totally also read Sword of Shannara in 5th grade, but didn't stay up late reading it. I've read it a few times since, but not in at least 8 years I don't think.)

Laurie Hoecherl | 1 comments I also stayed up late to read the book "Out of My Mind," by Sharon Draper, childrens juvenile fiction book. It is a wonderful read, one of the girls that come to my Great Reads for Girls mother/daughter book group, had read it and raved about it too. It seems like it has wide appeal for all ages.

Last night I stayed up late finishing The Fault in Our Stars, trying to sob quietly the whole last quarter of the book so I wouldn't wake my husband!

Havilah | 23 comments My husband was out of town when The Actor and the Housewife came out by Shannon Hale so he wasn't there to make me stop reading and go to sleep. I remember being wide awake reading at 4am crying and laughing at the same time. A book has never done that to me before so I will always remember it fondly.
