This is another attempt at getting some discussions going in this group. This is where group members can post anything and everything that they deem to be important.

Are you a reader? Have you read any good Gothic books lately? Cross genre books with Gothic elements?

Do you write Gothic or dark fiction (I know there are a few of you in this group). What have you got for us?

Are you are Gothic artist?

Or do you just want to post an interesting idea for discussion?

Here you go, save yourselves the boredom of my endless questions and posts. Add something...

I'm a big fan of Nick Cave, Australian Gothic Rock. This is Johnny Cash singing Nick Cave's The Mercy Seat.

Not sure if you like Patti Smith but she's a favourite too. This is her singing 'Smells Like Teen Spirit':

She's bloody good too. Just joined your site. :)

This band called themselves indie rock I think, but their music can be pretty gothic.

The Broken Family Band. Absolutely love them! :

They did. Very disappointing. Listening to them now. Love the lyrics of 'It's all over' too. :)

D.E. Meredith | 12 comments Hi there - I'm a reader and a historical crime novelist, living in a Victorian house in London. I love writing reviews of books which I want others to read. Many of them would be deemed Gothic. Sometimes these books relate to my own research, sometimes I just stumble upon them. I am an eclectic reader and only review books I love in order to share them with others. That's why any book I review will have a high star rating. If I don't like a book, it won't appear on my list. That's it. My own books are very gothic (I'm told!). I wear a lot of black!Don't most women? They do in London.

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Black is a soothing colour and ditto my take on reviews, D.E.

Brooklyn Hudson (brooklyn_hudson) I am an author of supernatural thrillers and have always been drawn to all things Gothic. My bedroom is decorated with floor length red velvet drapes, I have 6 foot candelabras at each end of the bed. Protective gargoyles watching over me as I sleep. Give me an old Victorian style home any day!

New Johnny Depp Film
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cVcpz...

"In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass and Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feet—or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy...until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive..."

I'm prolly more of a Gothic-lite fan. I love Evanescence and Within Temptation. I'm a writer have have a book series called Apocalypse Babes that I refer to as skiffy-rom (sci-fi romance) goth com. So, whatever that means. LOL And I also write for a blog called Southern Fried Gothic where we feature Southern authors or stories with a dark twist.

Glad to be here!

D.E. Meredith | 12 comments Just to say the Hatton and Roumande series will be available in the Uk in August with Allison and Busby. So very exciting news for me. I will be posting giveaways and competitons with a Gothic twist, nearer the time of the launch. So, if you want to know about specimen collecting (human or otherwise) grave robbers, taxidermy in 1850 and early forensics, keep a look for my posts this coming summer. Hope that's gothic enough! http://www.allisonandbusby.com/author...

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

Great! We have a facebook page now too, if you want to post details of the giveaways or links to your books.

Definitely to the specimen collecting etc !

D.E. Meredith | 12 comments Great!

Meanwhile, I must mention "Pure" by Andrew Miller. I have recently read this book and its defintiely one for this Group. It's all about characters linked to the moving of the bodies from "Les Innocent" graveyard in Paris. If you ever go to Paris, there's nowhere more Gothic on earth than this place: http://www.ghostvillage.com/legends/2...

I urge you to go, if you go to Paris. It's incredible. Danton and loads of other revolutionaries are buried there and all the skulls are on display in a very creative way. But it involves a lot of walking and you really are miles and miles under ground.
