Have you all noticed how in some families....Islam is more strict than others? Like some families allow they're daughters to go to high school, and drive a car, or get a job...and some families don't.
Yep I've noticed, I'm in the family that don't allow their daughters to drive.
My family is strict, like I can't go to many places without my parents. But they also trust me A LOT. They don't question what I do online or what I text ((most of the time. =P )) So despite the strictness, Islam has more freedom because of all the trust it gives to people. Mariam, why can't you guys drive in Yemen?
My parents family is from India and there my mother's sisters, aka my aunts, are allowed to drive, go out have a education, then get married etc etc. In Ahmadiyat the women must have an education if they want it and have a lot of rights. I don't get why some of the other families in Islam don't have this. Would someone explain?

My dad used to be like this. But one year he changed. It was like a miracle lol. He let my sisters get a job and drive.
My sister told me in Yemen if a girl was driving, there would b people yelling at her. Telling her to get off the road.

That's horrible. I'm sorry it's like that. I honestly don't see the big deal why daughters, in some families luckily few, have less rights than sons. In the Qu'ran we are both equal.
confidence, lol I'm hoping my dad will change his mind someday

Its really not about religion, it's the family, the men most the time.
When I told my mom I wanted to drive all she was like was scard that like I get in accidents or something

Oh ok. I still don't really understand it, but I'm trying. =) And I guess if they don't want you to drive for fear of getting hurt it's something, maybe you can covince them otherwise. =)
I still don't understand it either lol.
I talked to my uncle about it, he said that where they used to live in new York Arab girls ran away with guys they fell in love with. He told me about a girl that ran away then her dad found her and killed her, he went to jail.

Oh um, I don't know what to say to the second part, except that was way too extreme and uh the killing was unnecessary.
I know, I didn't have anything to say to it either
Yeah and because of people like that, ((killing girls for running away)) people send the wrong message about Islam even though it has nothing to do with religion.
i found this so sweet!:)A non-muslim guy asked a muslim guy:Why do your females cover up their body and hair? The muslim guy smiled and took out 2 sweets, he opened one and kept the other one wrapped. He threw them both on the dusty floor and asked the non-muslim:Now if I ask you to take one of these sweets which one will u choose? The non-muslim replied: The covered one ... The muslim guy said: that's how we see and respect our women!
I'm going to put it as my FB status :D
the problem with many families is that they mix tradition with religion . I know people from Yemen very well educated they drive evrything they told me no one bothered them. I believe the problem with parents is that they aren't very educated with their religion I'm not trying to insult anyone but look at like this many familys mix their daily lives with tradition.nuthing wrong with tradition. so it mixes with their behavior and people tend to cofuse both religion and tradition. in my opinion is in order to raise your children properly is follow ur religion right first and don't stop teaching them. its ok to be strict but I see many families struggle to keeping a balance with being right strict or too much traditional strict.
let's admit it the sad part bout so many families is that if was the boy who had a girl friend they won't care becuz he's a boy who won't bring shame to the families reputation (tradition right there is being used ) but if its the girls they react entirely different . we should worry for our daugters sister etc. I believe families should be more involved with their children religion education and try to educate themselves. I encounter some confusion with my family I tell them all the time god will be ashamed of him for the same sin that god would be ashamed of her. parents r over protective with their girls I can't blame them its difficult to keep balance with the world we live in and what we should follow. I just think some families don't kno a right way to approach how teach their kids but they just do wht they think is best.idk I hope I ddnt confuse anyone . just one thing everyone DON'T MIX TRADITION WITH RELIGION.THEY R FAR APART BUT THEY R A PART OF US !
ur not confusing me at all. i understand u completely! ive noticed all this b4 and it ticks me off.

totally right....Alhamdulillah our family's tradition is Religion!:) I'm serious...it's like every traditional thing in our house is Islamic, except for 3 or 4 objects...that's bout it.

Me: God, can I ask You a question?God: Sure
Me: Promise You won’t get mad ?
God: I promise
Me: Why did You let so much stuff happen to me today?
God: What do u mean?
Me: Well, I woke up late
God: Yes
Me: My car took forever to start
God: Okay
Me: at lunch they made my sandwich wrong & I had to wait
God: Huummm
Me: On the way home, my phone went DEAD, just as I picked up a call
God: All right
Me: And on top of it all off, when I got home ~I just want to soak my feet in my new foot massager & relax. BUT it wouldn’t work!!! Nothing went right today! Why did You do that?
God: Let me see, the death angel was at your bed this morning & I had to send one of My Angels to battle him for your life. I let you sleep through that
Me (humbled): OH
GOD: I didn’t let your car start because there was a drunk driver on your route that would have hit you if you were on the road.
Me: (ashamed)
God: The first person who made your sandwich today was sick & I didn’t want you to catch what they have, I knew you couldn’t afford to miss work.
Me (embarrassed):Okay
God: Your phone went dead bcuz the person that was calling was going to give false witness about what you said on that call, I didn’t even let you talk to them so you would be covered.
Me (softly): I see
God: Oh and that foot massager, it had a shortage that was going to throw out all of the power in your house tonight. I didn’t think you wanted to be in the dark.
Me: I’m Sorry God
God: Don’t be sorry, just learn to Trust
Me…. in All things , the Good & the bad… And don’t doubt that My plan for your day is Always Better than your plan.
