Around here girls get married around 18-20. I'm 16 turning 17. But I don't wanna get married to soon. I want to get an education first and a job. If I had to choose between marriage and my education, I would pick
my education!

message 12: by Mehwish (last edited Feb 12, 2012 11:16AM) (new)

Mehwish naqvi (mehwishnaqvi) | 6 comments I would definetlty choose education first, because nowdays education is really important. When I finish my studies then I would think about my marriage, and I am still too young.

Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ My parents want me to go to college, so I can make my own money if need be and they want me to have a career. I'm gonna be a lawyer.

Joy | 146 comments There's no reason for us to start having kids if we haven't even lived the life we wanted.

message 31: by Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ (new)

Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ Er, in Ahmadiyyat girls don't get married unless they want to. Like they have to say yes that they want to get married and approve their match. Isn't there something like for you guys?

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

Not really for people I know in Yemen, a lot of girls have arranged marrages, one women I knew did was my mom...

But it's not like that for me, my parents won't force me into marrage and I'm grateful for that.

message 33: by Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ (new)

Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ That's good to know, we have arranged marriages too. But the girl and guy have to agree to the marriage, as in do they like their match or not. My aunt who is recently getting married was offered a match but said no to the first and yes to the other one.

My uncle said no to a few but finally said yes, and him and my aunt to be are gonna get married this year. Along with my aunt and my uncle to be. =P

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

Hope they have a happy marriage together :D

message 35: by Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ (new)

Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ Thanks, my uncle and aunt to be had a court marriage in London, but we're not counting it as a real marriage cause we want all the traditional stuff. LOL. It's kinda confusing. =P But thanks still. =D

message 36: by [deleted user] (new)

Ur welcome! :D
I love going to weddings lol I'm listening to a Yemeni wedding song right now too

message 37: by Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ (new)

Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ That's so cool! I mostly end up going to the valimas. I don't remember the last time I went to an official wedding. Well actually it was about last year. For my friend ((I'm friends with a 24 year old at my mosque.)) It was fun!

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

Haha that's cool!

Sometimes I think the next wedding that will happen in my family will be my own

message 39: by Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ (new)

Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ Is that good or bad?

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

Um... Both? Lol, it's just that sometimes I look forward to being married and other times I'm afraid

message 41: by Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ (new)

Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ Oh, I sorta know what you mean. I'm the oldest in my family, children wise. And even though I'm 14, almost 15, I think about that stuff. Wondering what'll be like. You know?

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah I know what u mean. And I'm the oldest too! Hate it sometimes though

Mariam {مريم} wrote: "Um... Both? Lol, it's just that sometimes I look forward to being married and other times I'm afraid"

I feel the same way. They say I'm the next one to get married in the family. One time my mom and sisters tricked me. They said that someone wants to marry me. They seemed so serious. I Panicked! I kept on telling them to say wallah but they wouldn't so I finally calmed down and knew they were lying.
But a wedding would be nice

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol my dad's aunt does that to me, but she's done it so many times I learned to ignor it.

But... There are some parents in Yemen that want me to marry their son. That's why I'm glad my dad won't make me marry.

message 45: by 110099 (new)

110099 | 352 comments Mod
My parents aren't going to force me to marry but they do want me to marry. But not at this age. Until I'm at least 18.

Every time I say I want to go to Yemen they say that if I go, it'll b for my wedding.

message 46: by 110099 (new)
