I always like seeing what you're reading. :)

message 3: by Jemidar (new)

Jemidar | 358 comments Thank :-). I think Kim's list will look quite similar. LOL.

message 4: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (hannahr) I loved the movie, Double Indemnity, and saw you rated the book 4 stars. Glad it was a good one. I will probably have to hunt this one down one day.

message 5: by Jemidar (new)

Jemidar | 358 comments The book has that classic noir feel. I've never seen the movie.

message 6: by Jemidar (new)

Jemidar | 358 comments I've added When Will There Be Good News and Mistress of Mellyn to my list. I've now read seven off Mt TBR so only 18 to go!!

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

Yippee!

message 8: by Jemidar (new)

Jemidar | 358 comments Thanks Hayes :-).

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

Way to go!

message 10: by Jemidar (new)

Jemidar | 358 comments Thanks!

message 11: by Jemidar (new)

Jemidar | 358 comments Added Detection Unlimited to my list. Another one down :-).

message 12: by Rio (Lynne) (new)

Rio (Lynne) | 51 comments I have 8 down also. At least we are making progress!

message 13: by Jemidar (new)

Jemidar | 358 comments Yes. It feels good to be shifting books from the pile :-).

message 14: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (hannahr) You're doing a great job, Jenny!

message 15: by Jemidar (new)

Jemidar | 358 comments Thanks. Getting close to finishing #9 :-).

message 16: by Dawn (& Ron) (new)

Dawn (& Ron) (furryreaders) | 456 comments Almost done with #9, that puts me to shame.

message 17: by Jemidar (new)

Jemidar | 358 comments Since I've been buddy reading with Kim and Anna I'm getting through more books than I used to. They keep me focused :-).

message 18: by Kim (new)

Kim (kimmr) Jemidar wrote: "Since I've been buddy reading with Kim and Anna I'm getting through more books than I used to. They keep me focused :-)."

I'm missing having a buddy read with you on the go. :(

message 19: by Jemidar (new)

Jemidar | 358 comments Awwwww shucks! That makes me feel all warm and runny inside ;-D.

You can start thinking about what you want to read next off our pile if you want because I should be finished the book I'm reading with Anna within the next day or so. I'll be happy with whatever you choose.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Buddy-reads certainly do keep you on track with a book. And, they're fun!

message 21: by Jemidar (new)

Jemidar | 358 comments Yes, it's starting to feel odd when I have to read a book by myself. Luckily, Kim and I have a pile that should keep us amused well into our old age so I can't imagine it being a problem :-).

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

I'll say. I just loved our read of the Count and I am really looking forward to Dickens too. So sorry I had to back out of the Tolkien books :-(

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

SImran and Kim, along with a few veterans, are reading the LotR books. It would have been fun to drag have you along with us.

I have a Mt. Tbr buddy-read with Chris set for next week, too.

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

What are you going to tackle?

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

Death in Venice, but in English. It's short! :)

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

I tried that one, and gave up. I will let you have that one!

message 27: by Dawn (& Ron) (new)

Dawn (& Ron) (furryreaders) | 456 comments So the secret to reading more is buddy reads?! I've only done two so far so that must be my problem LOL.

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

Buddy-reads and staying off of goodreads!

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

Hayes wrote: "I tried that one, and gave up. I will let you have that one!"

Andreas read it in German, and he feels the same way about the book. But, this is a challenge, so on the list it stays. And, it's short!

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, heck! I just read the summary and a few reviews of Death in Venice (after I list it!). It doesn't seem like my sort of story. I may have to reconsider this.....

Isn't the point to dwindle down your list? If you toss it, then your pile gets lower. Sounds good to me.

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

LOL! That's true; it would no longer be on my shelf. :)

We call that culling, a very necessary thing with large TBR piles, especially with two readers in the house.

Yes, that staying off GR thing can be quite helpful too.

message 34: by Jemidar (new)

Jemidar | 358 comments Finished #9 :-).

message 35: by Rio (Lynne) (new)

Rio (Lynne) | 51 comments Yay Jemidar! Was it the Chadwick?
Yes, staying off GRs! I find I'm on here more than Facebook, then again GR is part of my book addiction. OK, gotta go read!

message 36: by Jemidar (last edited Mar 11, 2012 12:32PM) (new)

Jemidar | 358 comments Yep, it was For the King's Favor.

I can't stay off GR but then I've found GR has helped me read more through challenges like this one and buddy reading with my GR friends. And I'm definitely on here more than FB--I don't even have a FB account. LOL.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

I closed mine down recently... too much visual "noise" for my taste. Prefer GR anyday.

message 38: by Geevee (new)

Geevee So I'm not the only one in the world without a Facebook account then (apologies for hijacking your page).

I like your list of books and have added The King's Mother to my TBR so thanks.

message 39: by Jemidar (new)

Jemidar | 358 comments Nope, neither I nor my partner have one.

I really enjoyed The King's Mother, but then I'm a bit of a Margaret Beaufort fangirl. Happy to help build you TBR for next years challenge. LOL.

message 40: by Geevee (new)

Geevee I think you and the others here on the Great Mountain TBR Challenge are helping me with about 15 years' worth :)

message 41: by Jemidar (new)

Jemidar | 358 comments Okay, 10 off the pile. Yay! Just added a Civil Contract to the list :-).

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

woot!

message 43: by Rio (Lynne) (new)

Rio (Lynne) | 51 comments You're 1 ahead of me

message 44: by Jemidar (new)

Jemidar | 358 comments But probably not for long. LOL.

I thought I was all alone in not Facebooking...

message 46: by Dawn (& Ron) (new)

Dawn (& Ron) (furryreaders) | 456 comments No Facebook or Twitter account for me, Ron has a Facebook account that he infrequently uses. I wonder how small a minority we are.

Not that small Dawn,I dont have either one,nor do I plan to..goodreads is enough for me.

message 48: by Dawn (& Ron) (new)

Dawn (& Ron) (furryreaders) | 456 comments I'm right there with you Sandi!

message 49: by Karen· (new)

Karen· (kmoll) I'm a FB refusenik too.

message 50: by Geevee (new)

Geevee I am surprised at how many of you good GR people have no FB or use it infrequently.

I like GR as it's "atmosphere" is courteous and the people well meaning and accomodating - take this group for example - where as on FB I've seen people have some mad, bad and frankly soul destroying conversations and massive falling outs.
