I've been holding out, the demo was alright, enough to get me interested. The cool this is that [unconfirmed because I haven't played the full version yet:] in multiplayer, players are supposed to be able to play the zombies too.
I've only played the demo and I'm waiting on the full version from Gamefly. What I played was pretty intense and it features the undead of the fleet footed variety. I think I saw a Flo Jo zombie sprinting at me doing mach-rabbit speed. You can def take control of a reanimated corpse in the full version. Different styles of them. I'll post when I get it and maybe we can hook up some multiplayer.
it's freaking awesome!you can be 'special infected' or survivors online, the game itself is quite short but a whole lot of fun, there's no story, you just have to escape. only a few guns but they cover all the bases.
i highly recommend.
I just beat COD last night so this is my next game, I am excited! I hear the online play for the Xbox is great. Has anyone played online yet?

I enjoyed this game but I think it is a rental. I beat it so fast. And sometimes playing with the computer as your partner will get you no where!
I got this for the PC so I don't know about how it does on consoles. But for the PC, although you only get 4 'movies', each 5 chapters long, playing through an escape scenario [get to hospital, boat dock, airport, etc:]. But the AI on the PC changes, and nothing is in the same spot twice [ammo, weapons, health, swarming hordes:], which makes it fun. I've got a cadre of friends that play it, but there is also multiplayer versus which I haven't touched yet either. Overall I think it's fun, but if you don't have a sect of friends to play with for co-op campaign, it can get frustrating. I'll try versus later. Now I cannot wait for the Mods to start coming out to beef up the game.
I'm in the middle of the single player mode, and can't get enough of it. I love how the AI changes things up so you can't memorize a level, and they've done a nice job of offering a balance to it so you can play with the shotgun and do some close range zombie blasting or get a sniper rifle for long range head shots. I also like how they balanced it with sometimes fighting slow shufflers or sometimes hordes of running zombies attack. They split the balance between fast/slow zombies nicely to appeal to both camps.I let my X-Box Live lapse after I got tired of being verbally abused by 12 year olds on Halo 2, but I'm actually thinking about starting again to play this on-line.
I've played the multiplayer and although this game is very simple, it's damn entertaining. The versus is very addictive as 4 players play the survivors and approx 4 more play the 'special' infected. You just walk through the campaign like in single player mode, but with intelligent players instead of AI. It's quite enjoyable. The infected players are generally rotated and will, at some point, play almost all the specialty infected in the game. If you don't like playing on/with a team, don't bother, as you will most likely get frustrated with this game. I think it's worth a demo download or rent.
I am not a huge fan of video games, but I really like this one. My husband had me play the demo, and I couldn't wait for it to be released. I think it would make a great movie.
Hey, even better for PC gamers is that Valve is releasing the SDK for L4D soon. Which means, hopefully in the next 4 months, we'll have allot of user created maps and scenarios. Can you image a fan created scenario of the zombie classics?
Left 4 Dead is great. It's addictive too. I have caught myself up a bit too late playing this. Not bad for snowy weekends though.
It will be better once they release the SDK. Found a couple of sites that have campaigns in the works in various stages of completion. Some are just awaiting the SDK so final textures and and game specifics finalized.
my Gamertag is Toefu Eatswell is anyone is up for a game. I just picked this up and have yet to delve into it.
360 or PC? I don't know if the two are compatible online or not. Mine is Azrael for anyone on a PC L4D game.
I didn't think so, even though MS has been saying that it's been wanting to connect the two systems [console & PC:] for a while now. Oh well, if any of you play the PC version, feel free to drop a request. I've got about 4-5 others that we semi-regularly crack out with.
I only play occasionally, and even then I suck. But if you're willing to roll the dice, my tag is plumbloco666 (for the PC).
Look for adds from Hatefuldisplay on the 360 when I get on later, folks. Or feel free to add me. I've played Left 4 Dead online with others a couple times and loved it that way too. Good to have someone to vent to when I get butchered besides my dogs.
Sorry I missed it. Started a bit early for me. Bump it back an hour some weekend that I'm free and I should have a better chance to make it.
I am on all the time so it's all good! We have a 120 inch screen that we play on like every weekend! Fun! So whenever is good for me. Right now I am playing Afro Samurai that game is pretty cool. What is your avatar Thee_ron_clark?
that's cool. I usually play fri. nights with my best friend. during the week it's sporadic when I even play other games. whenever you see me on xbox live just hit me up.
All you PC players, go to http://www.l4dmaps.com/ and download some campaigns, they are generally easier than the standard campaigns, but killer none the less. SDK out in spring, but these homebrew maps are fun, played them with my buddies online, they are great for a change of maps. I suggest the following campaigns.Orange (completed test campaign 5/5)
City Naniwa (3/5 maps completed)
Blood Hospital (completed short campaign 3/3)
Death Aboard (3/5 maps completed)
these all work in single, multi and vs. mode, super fun.
As far as I know all 360 players are S.O.L. If you need install instructions and how to load please see the main page of http://www.l4dmaps.com/.
well, at least we 360s know a DLC is on the way, it just won't be free (figures. . . ). I didn't see: were these maps Valve- or user-made? I like looks of the Zelda map, triforce of the dead bitches.
It's never free on the 360... I play a lot of Halo and every time I turn around they are charging for something else. And the Zelda map rocks!
That really sucks for 360 users, Valve stated that the DLC for PC and 360 was free.*taken from left4dead411.com
Valve has announced that the L4D DLC will be free for both PC and Xbox 360 users.
The recently announced Left 4 Dead Downloadable Content (L4D DLC) will be delivered to Xbox 360 and PC gamers free of charge.
Due for release this spring, the DLC for 2008's best-selling new game property on the PC and Xbox 360, is dubbed the L4D Survival Pack and introduces a new multiplayer game mode entitled, Survival, plus two complete campaigns for Versus Mode (Death Toll, Dead Air). A Critic's Choice Edition of the game will be heading to retail stores this spring, and will include access to all the content introduced in the L4D: Survival Pack.
No details on the release date yet.
And the maps are all user made using a work around with the Steam SDK. Most are very classy and I'm excited to see some of the other Campaigns listed on other sites to finish up and get released. I think this game will have a long lifespan because of all the user content being developed.
give it time and I'm sure you'll have it, you could always suggest it on a Mod forum, get the ball rolling.
I'll be playing tonight (360) with one of my other buddies, all you guys are welcome to join. Probably, but not definitely, starting around 8 or 9 EST.
