Do you think it's time for Sookie Stackhouse's adventures to end? I think this series is going on too long.. I hope this one is the last one.

She's said many times in interviews that she wants to move on and do other things and finish the Sookie Stackhouse series soon. I think she knows that the series is becoming a bit dry (although one could argue that the books are wrapping things up and slowly building towards the end of the series) but she's got a contract so she can't break it.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that the book after Deadlocked will be the last book in the series.
I believe Deadlocked is the end. What else can go further? She's going to fight with her Fae cousins over that treasure she keeps & she will be completed all issues with the Vamps sine Erik is promised to another. No more to write in the series. She's going back to a semi normal life.
I'm nearly positive that izzy is correct- deadlocked is the penultimate book.which I'm happy with, b/c I think there's still way too many loose ends to be tied up in only one more book...
Hi Scott,Deadlocked is book 12 and will be available May 1, 2012. Charlaine is currently working on book 13 which will be the last book in the Sookie series. It will be released May 2013.
Best regards,
Paula

Phew! I was a bit worried there because based on some people's replies and the blurb of Deadlocked, I was thinking that the book was going to end up rather rushed!
Thanks for letting us know. :)

No problem :) I wonder who Sookie will choose? Oh there should be a wedding!
I'm betting on no wedding whatsoever. Finished Deadlocked yesterday and it's looking that way. I do not mind in the least. Not everyone in this world gets an HEA in real life and unless CH pulls a rabbit out of Sookie's butt, it is not happening.
there is one more book next year i think its called Dead ever after....and its the last i went to a book signing for her when dead reckoning was released and she said then that she signed on for 2 more books and she was done, she wants to move on to her other projects. and i can tell she isnt feeling it anymore because in my opinon the books are starting to go down hill :( but yea one more book for us then no more sookie
and i seen on her twitter shes finished with the writtings of the book already, it just has to go thru her editors and all that good stuff
I think you can tell with the last two books have been, that CH is definitely ready to be done with Sookie. Which is fine by me. I love the books, but they definitely haven't been as good as they used to be, and that is a sign that its time for them to come to an end. I hope the last book will be amazing.
gertt wrote: "If Sookie returns to Bill it will be amazing, if not then it will just be good...IMO"im down with either of those outcomes to be honest and ive been an eric fan all along....well until the last few books
As a Bill fan who has not forgiven Charlaine Harris for treating his character so horribly, I am glad to see that Eric is going down the same road, Sookie will not end up with Eric and I for one am ecstatic.Eric fans have been upset with his portrayal these last few books, well join the club, now you know how us Bill fans felt after Club Dead.

I stop reading them because it seemed like the same stuff in every book. The first few was good dont get me wrong, its like making sequels moives after you do so many it gets old and dull.

Charlaine Harris signed a 15-book series for this one. And this is the 12th book, so there's still three more for this series. :)
I thought that there were only 13 books being written? I thought the next one Dead Ever After was the last book?
I thought that's what every one was saying. But she did sign the contract for 15 books. So there could be more than the 13th one.
I spoke with her at the RT convention last year and she said this next one was the last in the series....
I just hope that its good. It needs to be amazing because the last two have been kinda bummers for me.
I am excited I just hope that it is amazing and that we are not left with question but that we get a sense of closure. @ Adria I agree the last two have not been the best especially the last one I enjoyed it because I enjoyed this series but I did not looooove it.
For every previous book, CH and her publisher released a chapter from the new book in December. For DEA, they have decided not to do that. I can only think that the one big question that is on everyone's mind (Eric and Freyda) will be answered right away in the book, and any chapter released will spoil that question.
Along with this info and the synopsis where Sookie is 'devastated' in regards to the vampires, I am pretty sure that Eric either has agreed to marry Freyda, or has married her. He probably made that decision when Sookie saved Sam's life with the CD.
The cover is interesting. Every single love interest of Sookie's is on the cover. Who will Sookie end up with? I don't know who I want her to end up with but I do know I don't want her to end up with Sam (sorry).
I don't want her to end up with Sam either. But there are so many possible people she could be with.
I think sadly that the vampires are out. The only way she can have a future withthem is to become a vampire. CH has already said that's not.going to happen. So she will probably end up with a shifter and I think its going to be Sam.
No, I don't want Sam. I would prefer Alcide or Quinn (the tiger) but not Sam. I just don't feel them together.
Hmm I want to see sookie turned into a vamp. The book ends as she turns, with a final chapter about how she no longer hears what everyone is thinking and is happy in her new life, without a man, and ends up the queen of Louisiana or something. Just saying. lol
I'm still rooting for Eric...the way she feels about him is really different, as what she said in the books. I'll cross my fingers on that! :)
I loved the first 8 or so books, though they've all been of the 'easy read' category - sometimes I don't want to think a lot and that's ok!The later books seemed to be missing the editing and plot consistency! Sookie was never much of a heroine (great victim, though) but she gets more vapid with every book....
Personally, I don't think it's going to end well where Sam is concerned. Didn't Mr Cataliades say that you need to think very carefully before using the Cluviel Dor?I think that there are going to be consequences, particularly because how it was used. Nobody can cheat death.
Harris put a lot of emphasis on the Cluviel Dor (and the warning tag that came with it) and I think it may come back to bite them in the ass.
Joane wrote: "I'm still rooting for Eric...the way she feels about him is really different, as what she said in the books. I'll cross my fingers on that! :)"I would also want Eric to be the chosen one but I don't know if it will happen.

I think that she should tie off all loose ends in the final book. I never watched the True Blood series so i guess i can try that now i read all the books thusfar
I truly believe its going to be Sam she ends up with. Of course, I want Eric, but I just don't see it. Oh and Jenn, True Blood is a pretty decent series, but warning they changed A LOT from the books. And this past season wasn't that great.
There's an interview in youtube about the last book, where CH says that it isn't a good time for Sookie. As well as this in deadlocked Sookie writes up a will, I've have the feeling that Sookie will die in this book. She doesn't have the cluviel or Claudine to save her...Maybe Eric tries to change her and it doen't work properly and ends up killing her, I'm not sure but I have the feeling it won't end well.

CH has already said that Sookie does not die at the end of the series. I think what CH meant about it not being a good time for Sookie is that she is going thru lots of heartache before it is all said and done in DEA.
I personally can't see her ending up with anyone but Sam. It's the logical conclusion in my opinion and it seems like CH has been dropping hints throughout the entire series and they had been getting more and more obvious. Maybe I am am just seeing what I want to ;) He is her best friend and business partner already, after all.

Joane, you have to remember that she also wrote the short stories that she then put in a book. Kind of like the in-betweent the novels that Janet Evonavich did. So maybe the two that show up in some of the other books under "other sookie novels" count as the other two in her 15 book deal. Therefore this one would be the final. It's time, she doesn't really have a good story after book 10 for sookie. It's more like just random filler. In 5 to 10 years she may turn around and come back to sookie...but she really needs to take a long long break.
