Hi, I just finished reading Lisa Bergren's River of Time series and also Joyce DiPastena's medieval series and I want to read more. I've looked around, but the book covers scare me off in this genre. Any suggestions for a clean medieval setting? (Preferably with some romance.)

Do you mean medieval England or Scotland or Nordic? If the location doesn't matter and you're interested in medieval historical romance, I would highly recommend Carmen Caine's series. VERY clean but so well written! She is one of my favorites! ;o) I'd also recommend Amanda Forester's novels, they're clean as well. ;o)
Suzan Tisdale
My YA novel Two Moon Princess takes place in a parallel world similar to Medieval Spain. It's clean and available as a printed copy and an e-book.
Hi, Kathy! My book, El Rey: A Novel of Renaissance Iberia, takes place in Medieval/Renaissance Portugal and Castile. It covers the period from the late 1300's through the early 1500's. It is a 'clean' love story/family saga. It's a bit lengthy and heavily historical, but not overly so for someone used to reading historical fiction.
Thank you for reading my books, Kathy! :-) I've heard Lynn Kurland recommended as a clean medieval romance author. I've only read a couple of her books, but they were clean. I'm sure some of her titles are listed on our group bookshelf. Any of the ones listed there should be safe to read.
I second Joyce on Lynn Kurland books they are clean and fun all are set in the medieval time period. I have read all but 3 or 4 of her books. The first one she published I have heard may not be clean, there are a couple that are a little spicy, but none that go into any detail. I love her books:) Oh If you like fantasy her nine kingdom series is really good as well.
I third the Lynn Kurland recommendation. Go to her website and look up the MacLeod and De Piaget series. De Piaget's were my favorite but she brings the two families together at several times so you should read both series :) Yes a few are a little spicy but all clean and you can't put them down!!!!
Thought of another one it is YA adult, but really good it is fantasy, but set in medieval time. Legacy and Allegiance by Cayla Kluver are excellent and clean.
Here are some YA:Gwyneth and the Thief by Margaret Moore
Tess and the Highlander by May McGoldrick
The Healer's Apprentice by Melanie Dickerson (has religious themes)
The Merchant's Daughter by Melanie Dickerson (has religious themes)
Wildwing by Emily Whitman (time travel story from early 1900s England to Medieval England)
Silver Rose by Jill Eckersley
If you don't mind a fantasy flavored medieval setting, I've got a fantasy **short story** romance that's clean (published by The Wild Rose Press) and has a medieval background:Daughter of the Sorcerer King
(has knights fighting dragons theme)
Premise:
Samara is furious when her father, the Sorcerer King, advocates a boy from a foreign kingdom as his successor simply because three witches foretold the event. Then the king asks her to escort the child safely back to his realm. If that were not bad enough, as if Samara were incapable of discharging the distasteful duty, he insists a knight accompany them on the journey home. But when a grieving dragon steals the child, Samara is afraid her father will never forgive her this mistake, or worse, think she had intended the boy harm. Desperate to rescue her charge, she turns to her too-amorous knight-escort for help.

"Well written and filled with vivid details, this is a tale of a woman's journey toward her destiny-despite that destiny having taken an unexpected twist."
And a second fantasy short story romance (also clean) coming up in May 2012 called:
The Misspelled Charm
(about a witch in a village where magic is frowned upon).
I do have another short story - Baron of Dragon's Reach, (with no dragons in it, lol, despite the title) that also has a medieval setting (with an arranged marriage premise). However, there's a very short piece (one paragraph, 26 words :) where the heroine loses her virginity before marriage.
I put it in the story because the scene was pivotal to the plot, since the rest of the tale is about what happens when she tries to make up for that one, possibly fatal, mistake.
All that said, that paragraph's presence makes Baron inappropriate for this group.

It's a return to the medieval setting of my first books for Bantam, but it's a clean read like my more recent inspirationals for RandomHouse. Faith is touched upon, but only where it applies to life in the middle ages.
Free 4/28 & 4/29 Paulina's Story: A Tale from Renaissance Iberia. Set in 15th century Portugal, it is a novelette of approximately 9500 words (about 30 pages) long and should take less than an hour to read. Good measure of whether you would like the full-length novel.

My novella The Mercenary's Marriage is set on a Medieval-like world. It has no magic, but plenty of romance. I also have a romantic short story placed in a Medieval setting, Word and Deed.

WOW! I loved the mercernary's Marriage! And word and deed. Good job. Can't wait to read what's next.
There are five really old and really great books that are time period romance by Karen Lynn. She is actually two women, mother and daughter. The books were in my local library and I loved them so much that I bought them on line! "the Rake", "scottish marriage" and I can't remember the other three right now. The covers are old school and worn but the content is priceless!!!
Thank you so much, Donna. It means so much to know they were enjoyed. :) I have more in the works. I will have to look up Karen Lynn and see if I can get my hands on any of her books. :)
another really AWESOME romance author is Marcia Lynn Mcclure. Her Medieval Romances are Crimson Frost and Sapphire Snow (retelling of Snow White), both had great passionate kissing scenes without any sex whatsoever! I highly recommend all of her books! Her regency's are the best! Also she did a Beauty and the Beast retelling called the Whispered Kiss if any of you are interested in fairy tale romances
