Has anyone read Thieves' World? I'm normally more in to Sci-Fi than fantasy but this series peeked my interest. Thoughts and opinions on the book/series?

I did and enjoyed the series. They had a variety of writers & characters in a single book. It was interesting reading about the same situation for different points of view.
I loved the series and usually reread it about every 5-8 years. I typically read through volume 6 and stop. By then i get bored and want something else.
Thanks for the feedback guys! I think I'm going to pick up the collection containing the first two novels from amazon this week.
Extra note- One of my favorite characters was someone named Shadowspawn. There's one book totally dedicated to him.If your trying to decided which to read I'd go with the 1st as an intro to the world
and the 4th one. Everyone has their own favorite. You really can't go wrong with any of them

Shadowspawn (Thieves' World, No 4)
I enjoyed all 12 books enough to find them in hardback. I think Shadowspawn was probably one of my favorite characters as well, but the way the overall storyline was woven in was very cool. I wish someone would run that experiment again, but it's probably no longer cost effective...
I don't remember how much of the original series I read (twelve anthologies and four novels, I think), but I did like it. There was also a bit of a revival about 10 years ago -- a new novel (Sanctuary by Lynn Abbey) and at least a couple of new anthologies (Turning Points and Thieves' World: Enemies of Fortune) but I haven't read any of those yet either.

Actually, A. Offut wrote another stand-alone Shadowspawn novel that really departed from the Thieves' World setting: Shadows of Sorcery.
Janet and Chris Morris also wrote another series of Tempus novels that didn't have the Thieves' World monicker attached, one of which I think put him in modern times.
I really enjoyed the original anthology and they are a great gateway to other authors that you may have heard of but never read.
I wish the reboot by Lynn a few years ago had spawned more than it did.
