Good news!A judgment handed down at the Royal Courts of Justice in London, following a judicial review brought by public law experts at Irwin Mitchell, states that Waverley Borough Council’s decision to grant planning permission to turn Undershaw into nine separate homes ‘must be quashed’ due to ‘legal flaws’ identified during the process.
The ruling brings an end to a global campaign to fight the redevelopment plans and preserve the history of the property, which was also designed and built by Conan Doyle.
Huzzah
Just an update: there's been ups and downs on the campaign since May (there was at least one appeal from Fossway Ltd about the decision to stop development). The appeal has recently been rejected, as you can read about here:http://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/she...

So Undershaw, for now, is safe. But there still hasn't been a final decision made as to what direction Undershaw will now be taken, so the support campaign is still very much going on! You can follow them at www.saveundershaw.com -- or on Facebook:

Just read one of the books that was compiled to help save Undershaw.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I saw this thread and wanted to add that the "save Undershaw" effort it seems got some significant funding from the efforts of MX Publishing. Since 2015 they have put out a series of Sherlock Holmes anthologies, stories written by various authors, usually with a theme or based on one of the unwritten cases mentioned in the canon. So far, I think they've done about 20 of these books, which include things like poetry and essays as well as short stories. I read a couple of them and even though some stories are better than others, they were all fun to read. Don't know how they pick the authors or the publishing schedule. Only downside is that the hardcover versions are on the pricy side but the money goes to support Undershaw that is a school for the disabled.

Can't believe I didn't mention this here already.
Wikipedia:
"Undershaw is a former residence of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of Sherlock Holmes. The house was built for Doyle at his order, and it is the location where he wrote many of his works, including The Hound of the Baskervilles. It is currently (2012) proposed that it should be redeveloped into several residences."
