Are those degrees you are listing? Sorry to not know. You don't have to list your degree. My example was referring to your line of work. My example was if you are a teacher for example, you could put education. If you teach high school: education/high school.

We don't have to even get into education levels at all.

Another work example would be sales/business equipment, or science research/biology. Or simply retail management.

I wrote a mystery series (the heroine's last name was Austen, who named her daughter "Jane"), a volume of Sherlockian novellas, co-authored a book called "Lady Vernon and Her Daughter" that was an adaptation of Austen's "Lady Susan", and co-authored the short story, "What Would Austen Do", in the recent anthology, "Jane Austen Made Me Do It."

wow - they sound cool and interesting - and loving the links to Austen. I have heard of the "What Would Austen Do" and the "Jane Austen Made Me Do It." i suppose they are sort of about what their title suggests? ;)

No way! You wrote "What Would Austen Do?" That was one of my favorite stories in the Jane Austen Made Me Do It book. I am so impressed! I loved the irony; I never would have come up with a protagonist like the one you chose. Your story, and the Jane Austen's Nightmare story, made me buy the book in hardcover! T

Thanks - but I must share credit with my co-author who is my daughter, Caitlen. She will have her own book out in May, a middle grade fantasy novel called "Ordinary Magic".

Women's fiction/romantic comedy writer now. I used to be an elementary school teacher.

At one of the JASNA Annual General Meetings a few years ago, someone presented a workshop called "The Anatomy of a Janeite" (or a title close to that). The information was based on a poll that had been done, giving the typical age range of a Janeite, the most common careers, the favored pet (pretty sure that was "cat" ;), etc. It was very interesting! I wish I could find the handout we were given...

Oh! Just saw there was another thread on this board (called Anatomy of a Janeite) about that workshop/paper, and it had the link to the survey results (http://www.jasna.org/persuasions/on-l...). I'm so glad someone posted it!

Also a women's fiction author. (Hi, Marilyn!) Used to be a product engineer. (Love both jobs.) :)

Hey Marilyn, that is why we posted this thread. This is our informal poll. Anyone can add a category question within the thread, as long as it is a demographic-type question like the original one we are referring to. This is just for fun -- someone mentioned we do our own survey. :)

Great blog Stephanie. I am now your newest follower. Do you use any type of writers software when you are working on your novel? I purchased Write Way Pro two days ago and love it. I want to write a really beautiful romance story that is not cheesy and will stand the test of time as a good book. I wish that I could take off 6 months to spend writing.

Retired travel agent, and now mystery novelist. I also have short stories published. Needless to say my novel is about a travel agent, not a tour escort. My short stories tend to crossover: SF, paranormal, and I'm happy novellas and novelettes are making a comeback because I have a secondary character, Jane novella working.
