Global Warming = Antarctica meltsAntarctica melts = Sea levels rise around 150-250ft.
Sea levels rise = Cities go under

I agree. There is no such thing as global warming and i can prove it!

Do so please, I've been thinking about it for a while.
Fact: 100% of scientists agree that global warming is a reality and that humans are making it worse.Fact: only about 50% of media articles say that global warming is real.
Big business, like oil and manufacturing companies, do not want to change. The spend ridiculous amounts of money to fake experts to deny climate change, the plant stories in the news, an dthey buy politicians. It's their livelihoods at stake, they will do any and everything to get what they want.
Don't fall into their trap. Think for yourself, find out what's really going on. We need to make sure that the planet is safe for our children and grandchildren.
The 100% statistic is real, look it up. With the second one, I said about, I didn't claim an exact number. You can watch An Inconvenient Truth for more information.I know that what I say won't have a big impact on anybody here because you've already made up your minds. But come up with some hard evidence to back up your claims instead of resorting to strawman arguments.
I have watched that.I believe that there is Global warming, but "100%" means all... and I am sure you could at least find one stubborn scientist who disagrees, cause humans are stubborn. But I am pretty sure it is a high number of them, most, that agree.
I am just saying that you shouldn't always immediately trust a statistic until you research into yourself.
Global warming is nonexistent. From the time Earth was created, temperatures have fluctuated. There have always been periods of time that the earth heats up, and periods of time when it cools down.
Katie, the fact you gave about 100% of scientists believing in global warming is false. For one, it's impossible to know what every single scientist on the planet thinks. It would take forever to track them all down, and by the time they are tracked down opinions can change. So, it is not 100% of scientists that believe in global warming. I could believe maybe 70-90 %, but 100% is absolutely wrong.
Also, what the media says can't always be counted as true. News media for example, will take a story and change it to fit what they were looking for. My freshman year of high school, the news media came to interview us about our choir program. They kept mentioning Glee, and we kept telling them that we had NO IDEA what Glee was. Whatsoever. We were in choir because of church, family, schedule changes, etc, and we loved choir because it was simply choir, not because of some Glee. When the story appeared on the news, they described how our school's choir program had blossomed because of the hit show Glee. We have three choirs, and the ONLY footage they showed was of our show choir dancing. They completely twisted everything we said, and in the end they got the story they wanted. Moral of that story, don't trust the media.
Anyways, like I said. The planet has always had extreme heat spells and extreme cold spells. Global warming as most people think of it is nonexistent. The planet warming up, yeah that happens. But it isn't because of humans. Yes, I do think that we treat our planet horribly. I do think humans are ungrateful little _______s. We should treat our planet better. However, we are NOT the cause of global warming.
If I get more interested in this topic, I'll come back with some actual evidence. For now though, I just wanted to toss in my opinion.

The US has the hottest year ever on record. If you think this is natural, how do you explain the rapid rise? Ten of the hottest years on record were in the last 14 years. Yes, the Earth goes through cycles, but it takes THOUSANDS of years for those changes to be measurable. How do we know this? Scientists hav etaken cores of the polar ice cap. Microscopic samples of air are trapped inside. The can analyze that and tell what the climat ewa slike, the compositon of air, etc. From that, they also know that carbon dioxide levels now are the highest they'v eve rbeen in 40,000 years. 40,000 YEARS? And that's not because they found higher levels of CO2, they've only gone back that far.If you say global warming and climate change aren't real or that they're natural, you're dead wrong. You are also showing how ignoran tyou are. Please, go find evidence to back yourself up. Scientist who deny global warming are almost always on an oil company's payroll. They'v egot a large stake in the matter. They pay off scientists, politicians and the media to make sure that people stay ignorant or unbelieving. I have researched this and I've studied this in school. I have a background in science.
Again, there's not much of a point in me sayin gthis. You've already ma dup your mind and science and reason won't make a difference to you. I feel a need to combat ignorance wherever I find it but that's just me.
Hey, at least I came in without denying the fact that I posted next to 0 proof. There IS evidence out there to support my opinion, I just don't have the time to go look it all up and bring it here.
Also, just as a pointer, please be careful with the things you call other people. Just because someone has a different opinion than you doesn't make them ignorant. It's all right if you have that opinion, but it's better if you keep it to yourself for the sake of keeping debate topics peaceful.
Like I said, if I get interested enough I'll come back with an actual argument. Right now that just isn't happening. I can assume though, that eventually it will.

In 2010 the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences created a survey to see what percentage of scientists believe that global warming is caused by man. 1,372 scientists answered the questions, and 97% of them believed global warming is caused by man. Not 100%. According to the AAAS (The American Association for the Advancement of Science) there are 5.8 million scientists in the world. According to an article in Scientific American, (author Beryl Lieff Benderly is a fellow of the AAAS) there are 18,000 American citizen scientists and engineers. So, that survery questioned less than 6% of the scientists who are American citizens, let alone the scientists in America who aren't citizens, let ALONE the other 196 countries in the world. (That number is provided by Geography, which is associated with the New York Times company.)
You wanted evidence? You got it. Your "fact" about 100% of scientists believing that global warming is caused by man is absolutely wrong. You say that the scientists who deny that global warming is caused by man are in cahoots with oil companies. Well, I gave you my evidence. Where's yours?

I've heard (and read) that global warming is partially a natural cycle the Earth goes through but has been sped up and worsened by the acts of pollution us humans are doing now-a-days.But there is proof that Earth has gone through several cycles of both global warming and 'global cooling' A.K.A ice ages.
So in a sense, global warming was always going to happen and there is really no stopping it.
The human influence is onl making it worse and speeding up the proccess, definetally making the situation worse for us.
If we cant stop global warming we should at least do our best to prolong the effects.
No, instead we appear to be trying to rush the proccess. Brilliant idea huh?
Yes, lets just keep on burning our oil (which is causing enough problems by itself might I add) and watch as the Earth slowly roasts like food in the microwave. Let those silly little ice-caps melt-no one likes the cold anyways. And who cares about those cities? We'll have plenty more left anyways. So long as we get our money the world can burn for all we care! Hooray!
Sorry about that sarcasm, I have a problem with higher authoritive figures such as extremely rich sleazy businessmen. I dont trust them in the slightest.
But what do I know? Im not an expert on this subject afterall, only reciting what I've learnt from documentaries, school, books and long, long debates.
This is not personally directed at anybody. It is my opinion and stuff I quickly looked up on the web.
1. I agree with Cheyenne that global warming as people say does not exist. It's just a propaganda tool used by environmentalists to scare people into doing what THEY want. Like not produce oil, kill trees, etc.
2. We're not really killing the planet. CO2 is used by plants to produce oxygen and food. Hybrid cars do not reduce CO2 because they are using electricity produced by coal plants.
3. http://ossfoundation.us/projects/envi... Go to this site. Although they claim that we are not in a natural global warming cycle, look at their graphs. Several show that the temperature was much higher millions of years ago. Another shows a steady cycle of CO2 increase and decrease. Another graph shows increases of three gases, two of which gases (co2 and nitrous oxide) are good for plants.
4. Antarctica land mass is decreasing but sea ice is increasing.

Weak attempt at continuing the debate:Point 1-Well at least its for a good cause huh? This sort of propaganda might not really be such a bad thing. Because even if it isnt happening now something bad is bound to happen eventually if we keep abusing our planet in such a way. You cant deny that we are doing the earth a lot of harm.
Point two-There are less plants to absorb the CO2 because we are killing all of them. And its possible we are producing CO2 faster than the earth can use it. Also-less plants=less oxygen. There is an imbalance slowly forming here. But I agree with you thart hybrid cars are overall pretty useless there is no denying that we do need to find an alternative fuel (that preferably doesnt harm the environment-at least so that we arent so reliant on oil because that will run out eventually.
Point three-too much of something good can be bad too.
Point four-Yes but the antarctica land mass is more important.
Thanks Cheyenne.
I'm sorry but I don't believe that propaganda used for a specific group of people's gain is good. Also usually environmentalists leave out some of the facts or misrepresent the facts.
I don't know about other plants but there at least 10 billion trees in America alone. There may not be as much imbalance as some would lead us to believe.
I'll agree about the Antarctic land mass being important.

As far as the less plants thing, I've heard (HEARD, not researched, so don't take this as 100% fact) that all of those companies and organizations that cut down trees are required to plant two new trees for every one that they cut down.
Propaganda can only be good in few situations. Most of the time however, it is used to get money, which for the general public who now have shrinking wallets, is not good.

Evelyn, as I stated above, the earth has always gone through these cold and hot spells. Look up the chart created by Cliff Harris, a man considered to be in the top ten climatologists, and Randy Mann.
I would post it here, but it's extremely easy to find. The thing is everywhere.

If our Earth warms too much, ice will melt, and the ozone layer will be hurt. If "The Ice"(Antarctica) melts even 10%, well, let's try to stop Global Warming.
Talk about what you think causes Global Warming here and how we can stop it.
