Abi Yes, definitely Independent People by Halldor Laxness

Sarah (grapefruit) | 1 comments I agree to Independent People by Laxness. But one can also find great novels among the younger generations of Icelandic authors, like 101 Reykjavik by Hallgrimur Helgason, Angels of the Universe by Einar Mar Gudmundsson or Devil's Island by Einar Karason.

I would love to read a book about Iceland. All I know is what I learned from Matt Lauer. He visited Iceland on his Trip Around The World segment a few years back. I will look for Independent People.

I will see if my library owns "Blue Fox."

Annalie The Day is Dark is the first in a series of murder mysteries by Yrsa Sigurðardóttir. It is followed by My Soul to Take, which I read and enjoyed very much, because apart from being a very good murder mystery, it also gives the reader an interesting insight into Icelandic culture. Her most recent novel is Someone to Watch Over Me

Rachel (mimbza) | 89 comments The Undesired by Yrsa Sigurdardottir The Undesired is a standalone Nordic Noir by Icelandic author Yrsa Sigurdardottir. In a gripping, atmospheric story Ódinn is tasked with investigating the Króker Boys Home which took in juvenile delinquents in the 1970s. He soon discovers the mysterious deaths of two of the boys, and as he does so more and more secrets are uncovered. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ here is my review
