I've got this on my immediate to read list - so I can see the movie. I have to read the book first ;-)Saw the movie trailer recently and it looked really good. I'm looking forward to the book.

I read it. Well, I tried to read it. I may be completely alone in this (because I heard so many good things about it around here) but I hated it. I have never not finished a book...until Inkheart. I didn't care for the characters at all and I was never interested in a "what's going to happen next" way. About halfway through I finally gave up and got rid of it as fast as I could so I could never relive that experience by picking it up out of curiosity.
I need to read the book. Dang the movies are comoing out faster thena I can read!
I read it a while ago. I remember liking it and the sequel (Inkspell). I'm now trying to read the third in the series (Inkdeath) but just can't seem to get into it this time around. I'm not sure why. I don't think it's the book, necessarily. I'm going through one of those stages where I read about 40 pages in a book and then put it down and pick up something else. Every now and again I go through that. If a book doesn't grab me immediately, I just can't make myself move forward. Would that be considered "reader's block?" :)
Eeep....Sorry to hear that Justine. I think I'm still going to give it a try - but I'll let my 100 page rule come into effect.

I read Inkheart and really enjoyed it! I haven't gotten to the Inkspell or Inkdeath yet, but I will.
Robin, I'm not trying to discourage anyone from reading it. The issue behind the other issues is that I thought it was going to be more like the old cartoon movie The Pagemaster than what it was, so I was disappointed from the very beginning.
I loved Inkheart and Inkspell. Will read Inkdeath when it is either available at the library or in paperback. Am hoping that they don't muck it up too much in the movie.
I've GOT to read this book before the film comes out. I love fantasy and such :) I did read the beginning a year ago but I had to stop because of time and then I forgot about it.
I really enjoyed Inkheart and Inkspell..That reminds me to look into Inkdeath.I saw a trailer for the movie and it looks good.
Hi there!I really want to read this trilogy. Does anyone know if the books can be bought in a set? For example, Harry Potter, Narnia, and the Paolini Inheritance books can all be bought in a set.
Don't know if they can be bought in a set, but Scholastic Book Clubs sold all three in their Tab book club. You can now go online to Scholastic Book Clubs and order that way - so if you don't have kids in American schools (or schools who don't participate) you can get some great books at great prices that way!
By the way, in our last order at my (former) job, I got a free poster for the movie, starring Brendan Frazier. The movie hits the US theatres on 1-23-09.
Brendan Frazier plays the dad and Cornelia Funke is quoted as saying she had him in mind when she wrote the character.
I just don't think that Brendan Frazier has the voice to play Mo. I don't know who does, but he doesn't feel right to me.I enjoyed the book, but I felt like it got a little repetitive. Had it been edited down a little more to avoid that, I would have given it five stars.
I just looked at imdb.com to see who was playing Meggie (Eliza Bennett) and I see that Paul Bettany is playing Dustfinger. He came to my attention in A Knight's Tale. I think he'll be perfect as Dustfinger!
I've read both Inkheart and Inkspell now. While I generally liked them the characters weren't as compelling to me as those in other YA novels I've read recently (The Book Thief, the Twilight series, etc). I also have a hard time envisioning Brendon Fraiser as Mo.
I finished "Inkheart" a few minutes ago and loved it. Can't wait for reading the other books. After dinner I'm going to see the movie... let's see...
I have read all three books and seen the movie. Even tho Brendan Fraser is not how I pictured MO (I pictured him older and more grizzled) I liked him in the role. I understood one of the changes they made in the movie-giving Tesa her voice back in the real world and not later when they go back into the inkworld-it would not have been as dramatic and taken longer for Meg to be reading her mom's stories.
I'm actually reading Inkheart now and I am really enjoying the book. I am over 400 pages into the book so I will be finished with it soon. I also saw the movie and really liked it.
I was a little disapointed by the movie yesterday. Of course I always like the books more than the movies, but I think this movie could be better. The caracters lost a lot... Now I have to buy the two other books soon :-)
I find it interesting how many people had a hard time in believing Brendan Fraser would work, I also didn't view Mo as him, but thought he worked well in the movie. But what does it say about the author when she wrote Mo for him and so many people don't view it as such? Is this a lack of her skills or the fact she really knows Brendan better than we do?
I think Brendan Frasier was perfect as Mo. I guess what it comes down to, is that once an author puts his/her story on the page, you, the reader imagine it as you will. We can't all agree. Doesn't make anyone right or wrong, just different. Does, make me think of other movie adaptations of books where I felt the casting was horrid. Did other people envision those actors as those characters? Just another reason books almost always win for me.
I listened to it on audio. I liked it, but I didn't love it. I doubt I would have stuck it out in print, though.I'd like to watch the movie when it comes out on DVD. I'm not in a big hurry to see it in the theater. Brendan Frasier is much younger than I pictured Mo to be in my head.
I really liked the book, but was disappointed in the movie.

I just got a monthly newsletter for London(used to live there and keep updated un certain things). I said that the movie Inkhaert comes out soon with Brendan Fraser. When I read the title I was so sure that there is a novel, so looked it up. And yes, it is a YA fantasy movie by the author Funke. Has anyone read or saw it? Is it any good?
