It would've been a lovely treat to be first class on the Titanic. The pictures I've seen of the bedrooms and magnificent.
All stories on Titanic are heartbreaking, but here is the one I find very sad:
The Allison family was first class, and when the Titanic sank the nursemaid took their son and got on a lifeboat with him.
Mrs. Allison and her baby girl, Lorraine, were offered a spot, but Mrs. Allison didn't know where her son was, so she refused to go on.
Lorraine was two years old, and the only child in first class to die.
The mother, father and the little girl all died because they didn't know where their little boy was.

Margaret | 44 comments Yes! The story about the Allisons is sad! Did you also know that their little boy only lived to be 18?

Margaret | 44 comments Oh! Also, did you see the TV miniseries a few weeks ago? If not it's available on DVD. It did depict the Allisons but as "background" characters to the fictional ones. But it did show them searching all over the ship for their baby and last you saw Mrs. Allison she was in the water with little Lorraine. :-(

I didn't know that the little boy died so young :(. I didn't see all the episodes of the miniseries, but I did see the end of the second episode, the third and the last one. I thought it was really good.

Margaret | 44 comments In the mini-series I did like how they included the often neglected 2nd class and also those employed by White Star. That part was very refreshing just because so often there is concentration on 1st class (heavily) and contrasted against those in steerage. Again, playing on the class division angle so that so often we forget that there were also losses in 2nd class and if you think there was an overwhelming number of steerage casualties, that was *nothing* compared to the huge number of deaths of those who worked for the White Star Line! So yes, I was very glad to see each class and WS employees represented.

BUT...towards the end made me mad. You should have seen the look on my face when it showed Molly's lifeboat rowing back to the survivors! Oh man! I hit the roof *and* my little B*** S*** button so hard it was ridiculous! Only ONE boat went back and that was 5th officer Lowe's boat and even he waited on purpose until most of the screaming had died down.

Despite that, I did enjoy watching that and I certainly want to own it on DVD.
