jia (jiannemsoriano) Hey guys! Please share what your favorite genres are and why. Also, talk about what genres you're looking forward to read or going to try to read. :)

Mansi (devilrebel62) My favorite genres include Dystopian, Fantasy, Thriller, Sci-Fi and Mystery. I will list recommendations for each genre below.
One of the genres I am looking forward to read is Autobiographies.. I would love to get some in depth biography of the Kardashisns & Steve Jobs (R.I.P.) my brother is actually going to pick those two up for me sometime :D (I will list these books below.)
The one genre that I strongly dislike, yet I am always getting recommendations are Classics. Jane Eyre, Pride & Prejudice etc are just not my thing! xD but I am hoping to get into that soon because we are starting Shakespeare in Lit -_-

Dystopian:
Divergent by Veronica Roth The sequel Insurgent I believe is coming out in May.
The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness
Uglies by Scott Westerfeld

Fantasy:
Eragon by Christopher Paolini
Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld

Thriller:
Lockdown by Alexander Gordon Smith
Cirque Du Freak by Darren Shan

Sci-Fi:
Across the Universe by Beth Revis the sequel A Million Suns just came out.

Mystery:
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson
The Bad BeginningLemony Snicket (this is a 13book series but it is what got me into reading.)
A Spy in the House by Y.S. Lee

Autobiographies:
Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson
Kardashian Konfidential by Kourtney Kardashian, Kim Kardashian & Khloe Kardashian

Hope these are helpful somewhat(:

Depends on what you are looking for. I read super fast and I read everything. Give me a general idea and I can probably pop out a few good ones!"

Hehe I meant from the ones you gave.

That's great :)

I like YA sci-fi (dystopian), contemporary romance (chick-lit) and mystery.

Sandee is Reading (sandeeisreading) I am not info dystopian before but now I am trying to like more dystopian books.

Have you read Eve? Didn't like that one much. :(

I've heard of that book. But I haven't read it yet. Thanks to THG really, I liked dystopian now. But it sucks because new books are being publish that are "dystopian" but there's no freaking plot. It's all just romance. So these authors no offence but they don't know how to portray a real dystopian book.

message 21: by Valencia (new)

Valencia (empowered) Paranormal would probably be my all time favorite. Next would be Fantansy, then Dystopian, then Mythological Fiction, then Girl Lit (don't really know the right name for it) and that's it (:

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

Actually, Girl Lit would be fine. Or Chick...something. Nah. Girl Lit is fine :)
