Nichole Cause sometimes it's inevitable. My best friend is a Darcy. Granted, I don't like being around more than a few times a week, but I actually choose to be her friend 15 years ago and we both put in the effort it takes to maintain a friendship. And I deal with her, b/c, some friends begin to feel more like a sister, and like siblings, they're kinda there forever no matter what.

Megan Collier I think it is because you know there is a better side to the "Darcy" in our lives and there is so much history behind the relationship it is hard to just end it.

Swaroop True, Darcy's do exist in everyone's lives but its upto you how you handle it and create your own identity without losing friendship.

Mahlyn I had a friend was a "Darcy".. sad to say our friendship didn't last.

Lilly I have a friend "Darcy", and as Megan said, there is so much history and it's not that easy to end it. After sometime u accept darcy with all the evil and good she is bcoz life as u know it doesnt stay the same after she leaves.

Monica I'm late to the discussion but I wanted to say I too have a Darcy in my life. My cousin. She was always one, but, as we grew older (late 20's) it became too unbearable.

Just like Rachel, it was had to part with her. Not because she was family (she has a sister and that cousin and I are not close at all), but because we shared so much. I'm an only child. I spent my childhood doing sleepovers at my aunt's house where she, Darcy, and I would spend hours playing Barbies. Her sister couldn't care less to play with us, even though we're the same age by a couple years.

So, as we grew, I knew her Darcy ways were reproachable but there was so much, the sisterhood that we shared, the good moments. I kept loving her and accepting her into my life, and forgiving her, because yes, she did things that required forgiveness because they were ruthless, rude, and some plain mean.

There did come a point where I said enough. We're not on speaking terms anymore and I do miss her, but I also think I don't need her Darciness in my life.
