This book was an intense, and captivating. I liked the descriptions, and the use of vulgar language. The Spanish used was a bit confusing because I don't know the language. I was shocked that no self pity was evident because the situations illustrated were harsh, and violent. The title of this book resembles the drowning effect that these young children faced. They went from being children climbing in trees, and jumping the fence to swim to being adults that faced many dangerous situations.
