Gertie (gertiebird) | 225 comments Hey all.

Lately I have been working on a list of ways to make a little extra cash in my spare time. I have a few ideas but would love to get some more from you all, particularly if it is something you have done and can voch for as being worth the effort. Plus maybe someone else can get some use out of the ideas we put here.

• Sell unneeded items on ebay/craigslist
• Sell stock photography
• Do the occasional freelance graphics job, or Craiglist gig.
• Sell creative things on Etsy. But I don't know what yet. I don't sew/knit so it would probably be some kind of art. Anyone know what goods are the most popular on Etsy?

A friend told me about http://www.textbroker.com for getting paid to write, and another mentioned http://www.odesk.com, http://www.peopleperhour.com, and http://www.elance.com for freeelancing. (I''ve used Elance before.)

Gertie (gertiebird) | 225 comments Apparently there are now some sites for renting out your stuff, like your car, lawn mower, dog. (No, seriously.)

Well, when it comes to Etsy one of the most popular things that I've seen are stitch markers like these:

Which as you can probably tell are some of the easiest things in the world to make even if you're unfamilar with jewelry making.
You can also sell Vintage items on Etsy instead of Ebay if you prefer and I do think they sell rather well (especially if you get something that can be used in crafts such as old buttons or clock parts)

Gertie (gertiebird) | 225 comments Hmm, I actually might have a few vintage things lying around, thanks. :-)

What is a stitch marker? It sounds like a sewing helper of some sort, although they look like earrings.

They're used in crocheting and knitting, here is a blog with a simple tutorial for ones for knitting (crocheting ones have to have a top that opens like the ones above)

Gertie (gertiebird) | 225 comments Thanks. I Googled it and saw some pictures. They look kind of fun to make (I actually already have the supplies).
