Indie e-books | 4 comments Hi,

I run a website which publishes short stories from independent authors as a way to engage with new readers. The first stories go live on March 25th but we welcome submissions from any indie authors.

http://indieebooks.co.uk/submissions.php

I'm also hoping to try and build a database of links for indie reviewers and/or resources so any input in that department would be welcome.

Revital Shiri-Horowitz (revital-sh) | 2 comments Daughters of Iraq Giveaway!
Giveaway begins April 23rd! Two winners will be picked to win a free eBook and two winners will be picked to win an autographed copy on May 23rd!

Comment to win!!

Winners picked Wednesday, May 23rd!

Daughters of Iraq (http://www.amazon.com/Daughters-of-Ir...) is the story of emigration of a Jewish family from Iraq to newly-established Israel as experienced by two sisters: Violet, whom we learn about through a diary she kept after being diagnosed with a critical illness, and through Farida, whose personality unfolds through her relationship with her new surroundings and her new life.

Violet’s daughter, Noa, a student in her twenties in the late twentieth century, also has a prominent voice in the story. Noa embarks on a spiritual quest to the past, so that she can learn how to build her life in the present and for the future. While each of the three women is struggling with her own issues, they are all looking for the same thing: happiness. They share a strong sense of family and of their deep roots, and are all inextricably linked to each other.

Thank you!

Indie e-books | 4 comments Wow this thread seems to have been taken over by self-promotion... incidently if you do have a giveaway you can list it on my webpage: http://indieebooks.co.uk/giveaways.php

Any suggestions on how I can improve this (by including separate sections for Goodreads/Smashwords/Amazon etc) would also be appreciated. It's currently optimised for Amazon.

Thanks

Lexie Conyngham | 10 comments I know this is a bit different, but I don't want to plug my next book because I'm in the midst of a crisis of confidence about it! I just wanted to share - an agentless Indie author sometimes lacks the support (or kick in the hindquarters) from the publishing system to get over that 'Oh, my word, is it ever going to be good enough?' moment/day/week/aeon ...

Lynn Lovegreen (lynn_lovegreen) Hi Lexie, I think we all feel that way sometimes. Hang in there, take a break to go for a walk or whatever works for you. Then go back to that stellar idea that's just waiting for you to bring it to life. You'll keep writing and reach your goals someday.

message 34: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 10 comments Thank you! That was kind. I'm still not sure about it, but a couple of friends have offered to read it and give an honest opinion, so I feel a bit better (I'm pretty sure it's not stellar, even so!)

Thanks again!

message 44: by Randall (new)

Randall Luce | 11 comments The kindle version of my novel, "Motherless Children" will be on sale for $0.99 through April 2.

The decline of a grand Southern family forms the backdrop of a rich, complicated mystery. In 1946, Sam Swain, Chief of Police of Williams Point, investigates the murders of Adelia Southworth and her niece, Madeleine. The plot unfolds over a hot, nervous week, but the author, in absolute control of the material, weaves a nearly fifty-year family saga into the narrative. The vivid language elevates the story, and the solution to the mystery ends up both unexpected and satisfying.
