(S) So i have to write a essay about Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, and i need to prove three things about him. I have that he is hasty, but i don't know what else to say... any ideas?

message 3: by Kat (last edited Mar 30, 2012 01:21PM) (new)

Kat (sugaraddict) | 25 comments I've seen the play, but I've never read it. I suggest using sparknotes.com to re-read it, and as much as we all hate it, try annotating. It's a painstaking process but if you look over your notes I guarantee that you will find something about him.

Since you're proving things, your things can be opinions. Basically, you're writing a persuasive. This means that you'll probably use a format such as:

1) State opinion
2) Support
3) Support
4) Support
5) Conclusion

This should give you a good eight sentences. Ex:

(1) I believe that vegetarianism is better than being an omnivore. (2) People believe than when becoming a vegetarian, you lose some vital nutrients. Though, this is not in fact true. In meat you obtain minerals like iron, and nutrients such as protein. But, you can get protein from nuts, eggs, cheeses, and iron can be taken as a vitamin. (3) As a vegetarian you may become healthier. As a person, you are actually only supposed to have around 3 ounces of meat a day. This means that as Americans, we are overdosing on meat. When you're a vegetarian, your diet will most likely become more balanced. You won't be injesting as many fats and your sodium count will probably decrease. (4) Also, there have been some speculations that you won't be able to enjoy your food as much. When, really the assumed ideas about tofu and other products that simulate meat are based on ignorance. These products may not tast like meat but they can give you that same tender texture and satisfaction, without all the dietary negatives. (5) In conclusion, becoming a vegetarian can benefit your health, doesn't take away vital nutrients, and can taste quite good.

Of course, this is an unrevised draft. So take with a grain of salt.

☁ ℳisty ℳoonlit ℳemories ☾ (dreamsnitemarecrisis) | 21 comments Ooooh! Romeo! He's Hasty, Immature, and He's slightly Bipolar.

message 5: by Kat (new)

Kat (sugaraddict) | 25 comments Immature? Is this observation due to his quick assumptions about relationships or...?

☁ ℳisty ℳoonlit ℳemories ☾ (dreamsnitemarecrisis) | 21 comments Both. But if she goes with hasty, then quick assumptions should fall under than category, and relationships would go under immatureness.

message 7: by Kat (new)

Kat (sugaraddict) | 25 comments So you do not believe that he was in fact in love with Juliet, more of, in love with the idea?

message 8: by Girl (new)

Girl Anonymous | 1 comments any good books?

☁ ℳisty ℳoonlit ℳemories ☾ (dreamsnitemarecrisis) | 21 comments Yeah, especially since he was just previously mooning over Rosaline or whatever her name was a day before. The whole story took about... what? Two days? And he went from moping about her to 'I'll die for you' for Juliet?

☁ ℳisty ℳoonlit ℳemories ☾ (dreamsnitemarecrisis) | 21 comments Girl wrote: "any good books?"

Depends on the type of books you like.

message 11: by (S) (new)

(S) thanks!! u guys r great!!

ya, he married juliet the day after he met her!

So i have that: Romeo is hasty, yearns for love, and think life is worthless without love

(my teacher wants it to be about love, though she wont come out and say it)

message 13: by Kat (new)

Kat (sugaraddict) | 25 comments Well, to get technical, Juliet was 13; Romeo was 17. Their 'relationship' lasted roughly 3 days. I think Romeo just fed on drama. Of course, back then the age difference wasn't that bizarre.

message 14: by Richard (new)

Richard (ddaythecannibal) Life is worthless without love... Though I really disliked Romeo and Juliet...

message 15: by Kat (new)

Kat (sugaraddict) | 25 comments @ Richard: Ah, I think life is worthless without joy. Love, in fact, is not entirely wonderful. Sure, acheving greatness requires sacrifice, but it takes a while to find love. I just try to enjoy myself but also put the best foot forward. It's a careful balance.

message 16: by Richard (last edited Apr 03, 2012 06:24AM) (new)

Richard (ddaythecannibal) There is no Greater joy in a man's life then the one he gets from making a girl smile. And no greater sorrow in a man's life then the one he gets from seeing a girl cry.

So love still wins.

message 17: by (S) (new)

(S) hmmm well i hate Romeo and Juliet too, Kat, but i think even if you don't have anything in life, you are still alive. The chances that you were born are so slim if you really think about it and i think that you should make the msot of everything you have, because that's all we can do in life.

message 18: by Richard (new)

Richard (ddaythecannibal) Not true Asami, hate is living death. If your heart is filled with hate you'll be numb to life. With nothing but hate you'll still breath but you'll seize to live.

message 19: by (S) (new)

(S) if you are hating everything then you have something in your life to hate. If you hate life then yes, you are living dead. But i don't have time to think about those idiots. They refuse to try or to hope and that is sickening. Life is hard, i know, but you can never give up or you are dead.

message 20: by Richard (new)

Richard (ddaythecannibal) I know plenty about hate and being dead on the inside...

message 21: by Kat (new)

Kat (sugaraddict) | 25 comments Richard wrote: "There is no Greater joy in a man's life then the one he gets from making a girl smile. And no greater sorrow in a man's life then the one he gets from seeing a girl cry.

So love still wins."

I don't know what guys you're hanging around. Love comes with many disadvantages and pains, also. I still think your life can be just as fulfilling with good friends and fun, you don't need to 'fall in love'.

message 22: by Richard (new)

Richard (ddaythecannibal) Spoken like some one who's never been in love.

message 23: by Kat (new)

Kat (sugaraddict) | 25 comments Yeah, 'cause I'm a child. I've never been in love and I don't intend on wasting time in a relationship based solely on love. You could love someone as much as you want but if you don't work at a relationship you're still going to fight.

message 24: by Richard (new)

Richard (ddaythecannibal) That reminds me Of Ben Franklin he once said "Marriages don't fail from lack of love, they fail from lack of friendship."

message 25: by (S) (new)

(S) i think... you don't find love, love finds you. Because if you go out and find love, your trying. You can't try to love, you just do.

message 26: by Richard (new)

Richard (ddaythecannibal) (S) Asami Seo Hyun 축구 wrote: "i think... you don't find love, love finds you. Because if you go out and find love, your trying. You can't try to love, you just do."

Love found me... the sneaky bastard.

message 27: by Kat (new)

Kat (sugaraddict) | 25 comments I have nothing against love, I just think that you can still have a pretty great life without it. Or maybe love is being used way too much in society. Twelve year old girls 'love' their boyfriends. Maybe I just don't know what true love is, if it exists at all. It's just a personal matter for each to find, or not to find.

message 28: by Richard (new)

Richard (ddaythecannibal) I believe in true love. Its a feeling most people only dream of...

message 29: by Kat (new)

Kat (sugaraddict) | 25 comments My beliefs are undetermined.

message 30: by (S) (new)

(S) haha i guess one day when we are all ajummas and adujushi (i don't know the translation) well know!!

message 31: by Richard (new)

Richard (ddaythecannibal) ???

message 32: by Kat (new)

Kat (sugaraddict) | 25 comments Asami is nearly fluent in english, but still has a few things left to learn. Do you mean old and wise?

message 33: by (S) (new)

(S) sorry... i hate english. My dad said the translatn is older women and older man. Sorry Richard, i kinda created this group cause english is my third language and my teacher hates me... i can always use help in this subject :)

message 34: by Kat (new)

Kat (sugaraddict) | 25 comments Asami you can ask me anytime, but I can't always say I'll be perfect. :P

message 35: by Richard (new)

Richard (ddaythecannibal) Have you read my bio? english was my worst subject... and I live in the U.S. Of A english is my first language!!! So don't aplogize.

message 36: by (S) (new)

(S) hahaha, i get that alot, Richard, but trust me, writing all this down is a 1000000 times easier then me having to talk it. You would be very frustrated with me write now if i had to talk to you :)

thnx kat! better then what i'd have!!

and on that note, anyone ever read huckleberry finn?? i think i might just give up. This is the part i am at:

"I did't see no di'monds, and i told Tom Sawyer so. He said there was loads of them there, anywat; and he said there was A-rabs, too, and elephants and things."

word for word from the book!! ahhhhh!!!!!!

message 37: by Richard (new)

Richard (ddaythecannibal) Yeah Huckelberry fin was based in the southern united states were speakin proper english is against the law.

message 38: by Kat (new)

Kat (sugaraddict) | 25 comments Sarcastically, of course.
Asami the modern english translation:
I didn't see any diamonds, and I told Tom Sawyer that.He said there were lots of them there, anyway he said there were

Now, I'm not sure. I haven't read it so I don't know the context.

message 39: by (S) (new)

(S) psh! what the heck??!?!?! i hate it soooo much!! It's like trying to read the bible (no offense) but to someone who is not christen or american, it is like: OMG THIS IS SOOOO NOT RIGHT!! (no offense, i just dont understand, it's not that i dont respect the religion!!))

message 40: by Richard (new)

Richard (ddaythecannibal) I agree with you on that!

message 41: by Kat (new)

Kat (sugaraddict) | 25 comments Lol, no offense taken. The bible is hard. It's okay, it's hard for natural speakers, too.

message 42: by Richard (new)

Richard (ddaythecannibal) I got a migraine from Genisis alone!

message 43: by (S) (new)

(S) ugh, it was part of English year 5 in Japan and it was sooo hard. And it doesn't make any sense either, cause there were no giants or demons or anything... it was sooo hard!

message 44: by (S) (new)

(S) Has anyone read the Jungle by Upton sinclair??

☁ ℳisty ℳoonlit ℳemories ☾ (dreamsnitemarecrisis) | 21 comments Nope, but I heard it turned some people vegetarian.

message 46: by (S) (new)

(S) ha, it was written in like 1930 america, i think a lots changed since then. lol.
