District Nine's industry is grain. Presumably, children from this district start their work young, either in the grain processing factories or amber fields themselves. In a normal year, tributes from this district will place low in the Hunger Games, leading us to believe the tributes are usually underfed, poor, and very unprepared to enter the competition for survival.
