Skittles- The World Is a Wonderful Place... :), orange smiles and peace for the world!
(new)
Velma walked through the streets, shopping for herbs for her Grandma. She saw a horse running down the mountain and stopped. The horse had very damaged cargo. She ran and caught the horse, and looked on its back to see a very broken boy. She lead the horse back to her Grandma.
Grandma's laughed when she saw Velma and the horse coming. "No Velma, just because you found it on the street doesn't mean you can keep it. We can't take in all the animals in Asteria!" She said. Velma shook her head. "It's not the horse." She said turning the horse so Grandma could see his back. "It's this boy." She said. Grandma's smiled faded and it was replaced with sympathy. "Maybe we can keep this one horse." She said hobbling over to help Velma carry the unconscious boy into the house. Velma laid him on a table and Grandma some how fixed him up, with the help of Velma and several bandages. Then they moved him into a room they saved for sick patients, ones that had to stay the night. Velma sat in the corner reading while the boy slept.
((Obviously the boy is Jerome.))

Jerome's eyes fluttered open, widening slightly when he found himself in an unfamiliar place. He noticed that his limbs felt numb, only panging with a slight pain. He scanned the room, as was his nature and spotted a girl in the corner, reading a book. Staying stock still, he watched for any sudden movements.

Velma looked up slowly and smiled. She stood up and walked to the doorway. "Grandma he's awake." She said. Grandma hobbled into the room. "About time. He's been asleep for fourteen hours. "You were lucky young man. With your injuries, you would've been dead in a day if Velma hadn't found you." Grandma said. "How are you feeling?" Velma asked.
14 hours?! Who's Velma? And what's up with the grandma...? Jerome tried to process everything, making his forehead wrinkle in confusion. He sat up slowly feeling parts of his body flare in protest. Wincing, he shook his head to the old lady's question. He finally caught on that they had helped him...but would they want something in return? He guarded his face carefully.

Velma ran over to him and gently helped him back into a lying position, "Don't move, you'll only injure yourself." She said. "Are you hungry? Thirsty?" She asked.
"It's fine. I got it" he snapped when she helped him. He felt uncomfortable underneath her unfamiliar hands, but he let her get him back against the pillow. He glared down at the blanket which covered his legs. "How did you find me?" he asked.

My horse...Oh! That wasn't his horse. it was that creep's horse. The creep that took Demita. Demita! Jerome's eyes widened. He had to find her! He looked at the girl, noticing her back away."Thanks helping but I really should be on my way. I'll pay you back" he muttered, removing his covers, slowly. His limbs weren't listening to him.

"Ummmm... You can't leave. Both your legs ate broken." she said
((I will be back!! Have to go to school. Post when there.

((XD Hehe okies))Jerome frowned. Well, this would hold him back. "How long would it take before I'll be able to walk?" He asked. He wanted to go. He had to go. But his stupid...legs... ugh. He shook his head and lay back against the pillow with a tight jaw. After a moment, he sighed with defeat and looked away. "Who are you?" he whispered.

Velma just barely caught his whisper. "I'm Velma. Who are you?" She asked. This was a strange boy, a cute, but strange boy.
"Jerome" he said before thinking. Wait! He was Hershel, but it was too late to change it. Fine. "When can I walk?" he asked, looking at her. She was blonde and had nice paleish skin which wasn't as tanned as the Sailand people, but tanned enough so he knew she went outside and worked, probably. She had freckles sprinkeld across her nose and cheekbones which rivalled against Demita's clear skin and darkish hair.

"Maybe in a couple weeks. It depends on how well you rest. Just relax Jerome, your in safe hands." Velma said with a reassuring smile. "May I ask what happened to you?"
((I just realized, Demita doesn't know his real name :( ))

((Awwwww, that's sad, but don't worry! They will meet again!))Why was she being so nice? He felt uncomfortable. "I'd rather not," Jerome clipped, but he tried to even it with a smile. The smile was wobbly and felt weird since he didn't smile that much. "Sorry, it's just. I don't want to think about it."

"Thats okay." She said. "You should get some rest, it's late." She said walking towards the door.
Jerome didn't reply. He was quickly pulled into a deep sleep.-morning-
During the night, his supernatural side had helped him out, making him heal faster than a human. His legs were just about healed, and he found he could walk on them early in the morning. He glanced around the unfmailiar room and then peeked out the window. It was dark and no one seemed to be awake yet. Opening it, he hopped onto the sill.

Velma woke, and went to go check on Jerome. He wasn't there. She looked through the entire house and found him on a window sill. "Jerome." She said quietly, she didn't want to scare him into jumping.

"Sit and wait here." She said pointing to a chair. She left the room and grabbed some herbs and a bandage.
He sat in the chair, holding his hand across the gash and the other hand on the axe that was covered in a cloth

((Ahhh sorry no notification!))
Grandma came back and dipped the herbs in some liquid that smelled like freshly mowed grass. She applied the herbs to his face and then the bandage.

"I need to go," he said quietly. The building was taller than he thought, he'd have to use wings....but wait. One of his wings were.... He grew cold. Would he never fly again?

"Your welcome." Grandma said putting her herbs away.
"Don't jump. I know what you are.... Or were." She said wlking closer to the window.

"What do you mean?" Jerome asked, still looking down at the jump. His pulse quickened. He hoped he still had his wings, it was the only thing of himself, that he had left. It was the only past he had.

"Your wings Jerome.... They're both damaged very badly. You probably will never fly again." She said with a sigh, she reached out and touched his shoulder lightly.

"I'm sorry." Velma said. "But I'm not lying." She felt horrible. His wings must mean everything to him. She hung her head and stepped back from him. "I'm so sorry."
"Stop it," Jerome whispered, feeling like he couldn't breathe. "Stop saying that," he said, more harshly. His eyes flared with hurt and pain, from the loss. Frantically almost, his fingers felt his back, searching for the familiar smooth skin and the pulse underneath where his wings lay, ready to be released. The skin was blistered, torn and bandaged. And there was no pulse. He fell out the window. From lost of balance or on purpose? Maybe both?

Velma ran to the windowsill, reaching down to grab only thin air. She ran outside and down to where Jerome landed. It was a high drop, did he survive?
Jerome, had luckily landed on his feet, but that had its price. Shock vibrations ran up his body fromt he jarring impact. Everything would be so much easier if he still had his wings. He stood up wobbly and turned to see Velma coming to him. He wasn't sure what to do. Run? Look for Demita.

"I'm fine," he muttered and then scanned the landscape with a cool gaze. It was a good thing he could still had some of his avian abilities. He could sense which way was north. Which was to Sailand. Jerome's eyes flickered back to Velma briefly, "Where's the horse?"

"In the barn." She said not really knowing what to do. He would die if he left. Jerome would need medical attention everyday of his wings and back would get infected and he would have to switch the bandages every 24 hours. His wings would get better if he used the special ointment Velma had. But if he left alone he wouldn't make it far. "But I'm coming with you. Your wings will never get better if I don't come." She said stubbornly.
Jerome pursed his lips, a protest on the tip of his tongue, but he held it back after a thought. Velma would know these lands more. Hopefully she wouldn't slow him down. He guided the horse out. It was well groomed and nickered something to him. He grimaced. it was Demita's kidnapper's horse. After mounting, he cocked his head at Velma, waiting for her to get on.

((Sorry for the slow replies dude. I'll probably be on this weekend :/ but I'm not sure when you're normally on.))Jerome's lips twisted into a wry smile. "To fetch something." Since he was looking straight ahead, she would'nt see the odd smile. It only stayed there for a second before he heeled the horse into a gallop.

Velma held on to Jerome as they road towards Stella. She pulled a collar out of her bag. "I have this. We won't raise suspicion if you wear it." She said. The collar was just a band of gold.
They had stopped to water the horse and fill up the water skins in the saddle. A chill ran up Jerome's spine and his hand immediately clutched his bare throat. "I-Can't-" he blinked and felt like he was trapped. THe feeling of imprisonment was all over him again, but they had to go undercover. TO help Demita. "Fine," he whispered, moving his hand to take the collar.
