There are things that bug all of us. Express your frustration here in in either a few simple words or a lengthy explanation whatever you need to do to feel better about it.

I don't like people who lick their fingers when turning pages.

I do not like people talking on cell phones or texting when they should be giving their attention to someone/something else. Such as in the grocery store check out or when you're having an important conversation and someone decided they must answer their phone.

it also bugs me that people will say the phrase "excuse me" in attempt to use correct manners and yet in their eyes you can see their evil intent and sometimes they push you out of the way while they are saying "excuse me".

I used to shop at a big thrift store, so I would be pushing my cart of treasures I had found and people would frequently start shopping out of my shopping cart - that always bugged me.

J.S. Bailey (jsbailey) | 130 comments My pet peeve is more of a regional thing...

I live in Greater Cincinnati, which has its own dialect of sorts. There is one thing about the dialect that makes me absolutely batsh*t crazy: people say "Please?" instead of "What?" or "Excuse me?"

Example:

Person A: Hi, my name is Bob.
Person B: Please?
Person A: I said, my name is Bob.
Person B: Oh! Hi, Bob!

I have lived in the Cincinnati area for my entire life and have never picked up on this usage of the word "please." Hopefully it's dying out.

One theory about the origin of the misuse of "please" is thus: many Cincinnatians are descended from German immigrants. In German, the word "bitte" can mean "please" AND "excuse me."

It still drives me nuts.

Maybe all Ohioans are doomed, then. :)

What what what???
Dustin, I'm from Brooklyn, see how far that behavior gets a person there...all the way to the hospital. Wow, that is so rude, I can't wrap my head around it. And New Yorkers are rude? Ha!

My regional pet peeve is people in the NY metropolitian area will try to talk ghetto and say "I likeded it". No, dummy, you can 'like' something, you may have 'liked' something, but you can never 'liked-ed' anything. It infuriates me, actually makes my hair stand up.

My other pet peeve is book related. When an author writes a continuing story, leaves you on a cliffhanger, then goes and spends time making stained glass (Jeniffer Roberson) or blogging about football all winter (GRRM) instead of writing the book they promised by leaving me hanging. I'm not saying they should write 24/7 but putting it on the back burner is a sure way to piss me off.

Marc-Antoine I hate it when people floss in public...I don't need to see it people, especially when they sniff the floss after passing it through their teeth...ewwww

message 11: by Dustin the wind Crazy little brown owl, Colorful Colorado (new)

Dustin the wind Crazy little brown owl (dustpancrazy) | 3088 comments Mod
That is disgusting!!!! How public are we talking? You mean this flossing behavior is occurring outside a public restroom?

message 12: by Marc-Antoine (new)

Marc-Antoine Hey Al, fancy running into you here, see you changed the pic again.

I have an employee who flosses at his desk, you'll ask him a question and he'll keep on flossing as he is answering you. The guy wonders why he is single, go figure.

Dog walkers that don't pick up after their dog
Drivers who don't signal

People who are impatient - some people are in such a hurry these days. (I recommend always having a book with you - of course this might not be ideal in all waiting situation such as at a stoplight and operating a motor vehicle :-)

message 18: by Jackie (last edited Mar 27, 2012 09:56PM) (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) This is entertaining! I'm laughing my ass off at the public flossers, probably because I've never seen one. The noisy eaters too.

Al wrote: I took cold medicine a little bit ago. Guess it kicked in. Hmm...pet peeves. Can't think of any right now.
See the connection between the two...I want some of that cold medicine. Brand name, please? lol

Another pet peeve that makes me completely unhinged.....texting or talking on the phone when driving.

message 19: by Erica (new)

Erica (bookpsycho) Pet peeve #1- my husband sneezes like a roaring lion and doesn't bother to cover his mouth. Gross!!
Pet peeve #2- people who cut in lines, any lines.
Pet peeve #3- what I call the "oh yeah, well I..." people. When my oldest son was a baby, I had a friend with a child the same age. Her child was so advanced, when my son was crawling, hers was running, and things like that. Drove my crazy!

message 20: by Jackie (last edited Mar 27, 2012 10:37PM) (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) Or the "Yeah buts". The people who ask for advice and when you give it to them they have every excuse not to take it. They start their sentences with "Yeah, but..." Whatever, don't ask for advice then.

Snoring husbands. I want to kill them. I had two. One died, the other got moved to his own room for sleeptime.
PS: I didn't kill the first one. hahaha

message 21: by Marc-Antoine (new)

Marc-Antoine Few, I snore, wonder if my wife hates as much as you two...maybe I shoul change rooms before I turn up dead as well...

message 22: by Becca (new)

Becca (goblinfan) | 402 comments Gossip hounds, is what I call the people who just have to talk about their co-workers, neighbors or friends. Do they really have nothing better to do? And they talk about it in these conspiratorial whispers, as though its some great scandal. A lot of the people around this area are like that, including my family. Its almost like the local favorite past time around here.

message 23: by Jackie (last edited Mar 28, 2012 09:18AM) (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) The gossip-mongers have no life. If they have to talk about me, I feel sorry for them because their life must be pretty damn boring, lol

Al, I'm a super light sleeper, I have a hard time falling asleep and staying asleep so any interference in the little time I do get, makes me really bitchy.
My son would wake me up when I took a nap and ask questions like what's for dinner. This one time, I didn't get more than an hour sleep in 2 days, I yelled at him, "If you don't need an ambulance, DON'T wake me up!" Yeah, he doesn't wake me up anymore, lol

A pet peeve of mine is people who only seem to have negative things to say. Mostly I've seen this at work where employees are always complaining about one thing or another and I'm like really? Again? You get paid to be here so you might as well try to enjoy it. I try to compensate by being overly optimistic and happy at work. I go up to co-workers and say crazy things like: "Wow! That's a nice shirt you're wearing today!" (because we are wearing the same company shirt :-)
Or when one of my co-workers comes to work and is acting negative I say:
"This is really exciting that you get to work tonight. You are going to have so much fun stocking the Yogurt that is on sale!"

I just go extreme to combat the negativity
"March is Frozen Food Month - These are exciting times for our department!"
"Do you know the story behind Home Run Pizza?" I asked
"Well, there was this little family pizzeria that just opened in Chicago and one day a player hit a home run at Wrigley's Field and the ball came through the pizzeria's window so they changed their name to Home Run Pizza"
"Is that true?" he asked
"Yes, it's right here on the back of the frozen pizza box and guess what? Home Run Pizza is on sale this week for only $5.99 . Isn't that Awesome?"

Another thing I'm known at work for is buttons. My work gives us a button for our name badge and they make all these buttons for promotions and advertising such as "Eat Healthy For Less With Organic Produce", "Ask Me about D.A.W. (Double Ad Wednesday)", "Now Open Until 11PM, Thank You" So I collect the buttons and wear several on the same day so sometimes I'm covered in buttons and I also have buttons on my hat for different product we sale like Evol Burritos and Kevita beverages and Bhakti Chai Tea etc. My co-workers know to give me buttons so it is really fun. I have one from the Natural Living Department that says "I love my Radius" - it's promoting a toothbrush. The only problem is sometimes in my work, the buttons fall off and get lost and sometimes they come undone and poke me in my skin.

I sure damn am!

I was a Sunflower Superstar (Employee of the Month) in December 2010. We are a very elite group because mostly they give this to new employees that are doing a good job (they get $50) to bribe them to stay but our store has such a high turnover that most superstars don't burn brightly for long. A few months ago a new employee was awarded Super Star status (they pick them at the end of the month for the next month) and by the time they posted it she had already quit so her picture was on the bulletin board for a whole month and she didn't even work there anymore but she got away with $50 in hand.

message 31: by Erica (new)

Erica (bookpsycho) I hate it when people pee on the toilet seat. Gross story- hubby's friend crashes at our place. Gets up early to use the bathroom. I get up shortly after to do the same. Sit down on a freaking wet seat. I wanted to throw up! My 9 year old nephew does the same thing, but he's a kid. A grown man doing that, and it's not even his bathroom. I so badly wanted to bleach myself!

You are all making me laugh again :-) Thanks. I agree with Kyle on the toilet paper - there is only one right way for the roll to be installed. The end should go over and be facing out, not behind.

Today the bakery department gave me a new button. It says "Ask me about our Fresh Baked Cookies - 99C Each."
(it actually has the cents symbol, but couldn't find it on my keyboard)

I must admit I killed a little bug on Wednesday. When I was on my hike, a bug was on me and I tried to flick it away but it was so little that it just splattered. I didn't mean to kill it.

Jackie (thelastwolf) I get itchy when they touch me. It makes me crazy. Bugs could be an inch away from me and that's fine. Mosquitoes pass over other people to bite me, spiders bite me all the time, moths dive bomb my head, it never ends. It's not like I want to kill them. Just don't touch me, then I lose all control.
