Once Upon A Time... discussion

Landon laid on the rocks next to the waterfall. The spray splashed over him, soaking his clothes, but he didn't really care. He closed his eyes, basking in the warm sunlight.

((He's just asking for someone to startle him and make him fall into the water ;) ))

Alice walked to the edge of the waterfall, biting her lip as she looked over the high edge. Her blonde hair was braided back, and she wore a simple bikini top with shorts. She wasn't expecting anyone else to be here-and she grimaced with discomfort when she saw another figure below.
For a moment she thought of causing this spot-and only this spot-to rain. Would that be foul play? she asked herself, without much conviction. I could just push him... she pondered, watching him for a second more. At least then I wouldn't be doing anything a normal girl wouldn't...he's practically begging for it.

And with that-the boy was sent into the water.

Landon fell off the rocks with a yell and sank under the surface of the water. He emerged, only to be pushed under by the force of the waterfall. He eventually climbed out of the water and back onto the rocky earth. landon stood up and stared at the girl who had pushed him. "What was that for?" he asked in disbelief.

Alice couldn't help but laugh at the way his arms flailed before he hit the water, and she was happy to realize he could swim. His expression was mildly irritated when his eyes found hers, and she her expression was of mock surprise. "Oh my gosh! Are you okay?"

Landon rolled his eyes. "Don't act so innocent. I know it was you," he said, walking over to her. "Can't a guy relax without being pushed under waterfalls?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

Ali didn't drop his gaze, but she couldn't help but smirk. Which deteriorated her innocent blonde girl with blue eyes act. "I'm really not sure what your implying" she said, although her tone lacked effort. She knew when she was caught. Alice stepped back as he stepped forward, he looked quite strong. She wasn't liking her odds being so close to the edge-and him looking for revenge. "And you make it sound way more dramatic."

"Being shoved under a waterfall was pretty dramatic for me," he said taking a step towards her. "Better not slip," he said, taking another step closer and tappign her shoulder just enough to make her topple backwards over the edge. He stretched out his hands and stopped her before she hit the the water. He brought her back to the rocks and set her down gently. "Now tell me that wasn't dramatic," he said.

Alice nearly lost her footing, even with him setting her down. She couldn't help but blush, he was stronger than she had anticipated. She liked the obvious sarcasm in his tone, and Ali was surprised to find herself enjoying this.
"Maybe it was a little bit dramatic." she sidestepped, and flipped over the edge. It only took her ten seconds to resurface on the other side of the water. "Or your an over exaggerating whiner." she added, thankful for the distance.

Landon laughed and jumped in after her. He resurfaced a few feet away from her. "I keep calling you 'girl who pushed me into a waterfall' in my head, but I'm sure your real name is much shorter," he said, floating on his back.

"Alice." she said, rolling her eyes in the slightest. "Most call me Ali."

She had the strong urge to push him under, but was pretty sure he'd be able to dunk her first. Ali inched backwards, intimidated by his looks, strength, and whether he meant it or not--charm.

"Nice to meet you Ali," he said, still floating on his back. "I'm Landon. Most me Landon," he added with a smile. "So, what were you doing here, I mean, besides hunting for unsuspecting victims."

"Well, Its not my fault you were asking for it." she commented, before answering the original question. "And I was coming here to swim. Obviously. Not everyone likes to just stand around sunbathing in full apparel."

Landon ducked underwater then resurfaced a few seconds later. He pulled his shirt over his head and threw it onto the rocks. "If you wanted me to take my clothes off, all you had to do was ask," he said with a laugh.

Alice blushed furiously, and she looked away-embarrassed. "So not what I meant." she said, refusing to look at him.

"Yeah, I know," Landon said, smiling. He swam up behind her and splashed her quickly before ducking underwater again.

Ali's eyes widened when she couldn't find him, and she felt extremely exposed. She kicked her feet, and looked around nervously. Alice bit her lip, and debated whether to get out of the water of not. Its not that she didn't trust Landon, she just wasn't in the mood to be embarrassed any more then she already was.

Landon emerged by the edge of the water. "Are you going to stay in there all day? It's getting pretty cold," Landon said, looking up at the now cloudy sky.

"Don't worry about me. I'm perfectly fine." she said, giving an amused laugh. Alice looked up at the sky, but all she felt was the sun. Probably from her own influence. But it only rained on her if she let it happen.

"Suit yourself," Landon said, pulling himself out of the water. As he walked over to retrieve his wet shirt, a ray of sunshine peeked past the clouds and shone on his bare back, highlighting the long scars on his back and neck.

Ali grimaced, she didn't want him to leave...she was actually having fun. She was about to ask him to stay-when sight of him stopped her. He had long jagged scars across his back, going all the way through his neck. Everything about him screamed dangerous. But he wasn't. Was he? "Landon..." she said quietly, her emotions easy to read in her eyes.

Landon heard her voice clearly, as if she was standing right next to him. He turned, saw her expression and realized immediately what she had been looking at. He hastily put on his shirt. "I'm not- It's not what it looks like," he said, sighing. Great, she probably thinks I'm some psycho killer or something.

Alice ducked under water, and surfaced a couple feet away from where he stood. She wondered what she looked like to him, but didn't weigh much thought on it. "I believe you." she responded, her tone begging him to contradict her.

Landon smiled kindly at her. "No, you don't," he said simply. "I wish I could tell you what happened, but the truth is," he paused and ran a hand through his hair. "I- I don't know," he said, his tone the complete opposite of his former, charming, self. He sat down at the edge of the water.

Ali edged closer, and folded her arms on the edge of the water. The current was pushing her farther downstream, but she was strong enough to keep herself in place, for now. She was now only a foot away from where Landon sat, and her eyes sparkled with interest-in him, or his life story, she wasn't sure. "I do." she persisted, "Elaborate?"

Landon hesitated for a moment. "I can't remember anythign before a year ago," he finally told her. "My memory is completely blank. I woke up in the forest, and these scars, well, let's just say these wounds took a while to heal."

Alice picked up on his hesitation, "Don't tell me anything you don't want to." she said, getting the graphic picture of his injuries. She distracted herself by undoing her braid, and then redoing it right after. "I just met you anyway."

Landon shrugged. "I have no one else to tell," he said. "And if you were going to run away screaming, you'd probably have done it by now," he added, smiling.

Ali gave him an unsure smile, "I still have the chance. Although I may be waiting to catch you off guard. You are stronger. But I am quieter." she coughed lightly, "As pointed out before.-Or I could just pull you into the water right now." she threatened, reaching out with her hand slowly-no real conviction.

Landon laughed and rolled his eyes. "Sure sure," he said. Then he frowned. "Actually, I'm really surprised that you caught me off guard. I must have been really out of it. My senses are usually very acute." Landon noticed her reaching for him and extended his hand. Just before their hands touched, he moved his and flicked water into her face. "Nice try."

"Mmm." she mumbled, watching him, her eyes missing nothing. Alice locked onto his dark brown eyes, and smiled at the way his hair lifted in front. "Because I wasn't being obvious at all." she said sarcastically, moving away back into the water.

Landon met her eyes and returned her smile. "You know practically my whole life story, what little of it is left anyway, and I still know nothing about you, other than your name," he said, stretching his legs out and dipping his feet in the water.

"My Name is Alice Holland. I live with my brother/friend Tyler, and my sister Megan. Parents are MIA. I am seventeen, and I like to swim." she said, not dwelling on any particular part of her life. Alice went straight to the point, she wanted Landon to know her. She wanted him to trust her.

"That was very formal," Landon said. "What about powers?" he asked.

"That is a mystery to make." she said, grinning mischievously. Alice got out of the water on the other side, and let the wind dry her quickly. She pulled out the braid, and her hair settled off her shoulders and waves.

Landon watched as her hair fell down onto her shoulders. "That's not fair, you already know two of mine," he said, pouting.

"Do I?" she asked, slightly surprised. Alice tried to take him seriously, but it was hard to, with that expression.

Landon frowned. "Um, did you miss the part when I pushed you over the edge of the rocks and then pulled you back over? Yeah, that's called telekinesis," he said slowly. "And the acute senses thing I was talking about? I can hear that bird's heart beating," he told her.

She pursed her lips, and looked away from him. Alice wasn't being as observant as he had given her credit for.
Ali's eyes flashed up, and rays of sunshine diminished the cloud until it was completely transparent. The entire clearing of the waterfall shined with light, and the wind picked up. The weather intensified, and it started to downpour.

Then she looked back to Landon and everything went quiet and still, as if it had never happened.

Landon looked up at her, eyebrows raised. "Wow. That was pretty amazing," he said. He shivered a little, even though the sun was back up, his clothes were still wet and cold. He stood up. "You wanna get out of here?" he asked.

Alice glanced at him uncertainly, and a blush bloomed across her cheeks. "Where exactly?"

Landon shrugged. "I have no idea. You choose."

"You don't have to wait around for me. Really. Go where ever you please." she commented, slowly backing away into the woods.

Landon frowned. "I'm not hanging out with you because I have to," he told her.

Ali paused, and her eyes narrowed. She never had taken compliments the right way, she always felt as if somehow people weren't being honest-or they were trying to irritate her. "That's nice." she said, before moving farther into the woods, and almost out of sight.

Landon sighed. "Okay, well, if you insist on wandering through the dark woods all alone, without the help of your knight in shining armor," he said.

Alice snorted when his voice carried out to her, "I don't know how I survived all these lonely years without you." she responded, laughing quietly to herself.

"Me neither," Landon said. "It's a miracle you're still alive."

"Don't test me." she called out, "I could just as well be put in your path to protect you, so tell me. Are you a damsel in distress?" Alice beamed, and climbed a nearby tree. It took her about thirty seconds, and she was comfortably fifteen feet above the ground. Safe.

Landon walked over to the tree and looked up at her. "I bet you've never seen a more handsome damsel in distress," he said with a smile.
