How did you feel about the use of the Mythology in this book? How did you feel about the way some of the myths were protrayed/used (ex. the story of Persephone and Hades, the relationship between Calliope and Henry)?

Rachel (almostasandwich) I didn't like how mythology was used in this book. I'm a huge history buff, so I prefer when mythology and history is done a certain way. I just didn't like how much she changed. That is probably my biggest problem with the book. The Persephone and Hades myth is my favorite so I'm especially picky when it comes to stories based on it.

I did like Abandon and Everneath though.

Debbie Davies (debbie16) | 5 comments I didnt like it, I didnt like that Hades is a weak mild mannered virgin in the book! I didnt like that the all the gods had the power to judge him, I didnt like that the seven deadly sins were the tests and I didnt really like the use of different names. This might be just because my own book is based on greek mythology and my Hades is so different to this one.

Like the above comment though Hades and Persephone is one of my favourite myths and I don't like how it has been re-interpreted.

It's always interesting to see how authors use the myths. Especially since there is so many different versions to the stories and then with the whole Greek to Roman change. It only seems natural that the gods would continue to change throughout the years. There's so many differnt ways that the stories could be seen and I think her's was very unique. Like Rick Riordan's books are nothing like this series, but I still love his books and hers too. :D
