Pat (patb37) I thought I would start at Level 1 and see how I do this year.
So Far I have read 4 books that fit the challenge rules:
1.)The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America - finished 1/29
2.) Kristin Lavransdatter - finished 2/18
3.) A Game of Thrones - finished 3/18
4.) Storm Front - finished 3/24

Hi Pat... I got stuck after the first volume of Kristin. I may get back to the other 2 eventually, but they are not calling out to me.

Good luck with the challenge!

I love Pratchett, but I'm not a big fan of Rincewind. Did you enjoy Color of Magic?

message 8: by Pat (new)

Pat (patb37) I liked it. I wasn't sure if I would because I generally do not care for humor. I will probably read more of the series.

Christine (chrisarrow) You have to read more, you just have to. Pratchett should win the Nobel Peace Prize, the Booker, everything.

Sorry - I just think he is one of the world's greatest humanists. His best book, I think, is Nation. In the Discworld, I like the witches and guard novels the best.

Bettie Lummey - I haven't felt the urge to respond to any TBR busting comments until now. What Chris says about humanism and Pterry is so good it needs further endorsement.

Christine (chrisarrow) I drool everytime I hear Pratchett has a new book out. It's sad really. But Jeanette is right. Rincewind started it all, but he isn't my favorite. You also have to track down the movies. Sean Astin played Twoflower.

message 12: by Pat (new)

Pat (patb37) I had no idea there were movies.
I happened to get a couple more books in the Discworld series at the library sale yesterday. My TBR mountain grows . .

Christine (chrisarrow) There are three live action movies

Hogfather (which is the best, in my opinion)
The Color of Magic
Going Postal

In addition, there were animated versions of Wyrd Sisters and Soul Music. Apparently there was also some type of Johnny Maxwell thing, but it was never availble in the US.

I enjoyed the Hogfather movie. I think they got Tea Time just right!

message 15: by Christine (new)

Christine (chrisarrow) And Susan, Susan was awesome!

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

One more! You can do it!

message 21: by Pat (new)

Pat (patb37) 12.)Kindred finished 11/26.
