Rhetorical Devices: Paradox & Metaphor- "Cold in fire" This expression is very similar to a well known paradox "cold as fire". It is often also used as a comparison when describing something similar to fire and its opposite at the same time.
Simile- "Not a shining so as to illuminate the night, but within him, placing her in the landscape like some kind of sonar."
Imagery Example: "The sun, west over the city, sent a long, slanting light. It fell on the cypresses, the house, the water in the pool, and on the four people sitting outside, making them look golden, like gods." The sense of vision is highly used here, I was easily able to visualize the amazing scene myself.
New Words: cogently, sonar, accede, Gaelic
Impressions:
The plot progressed very slowly through this section. There was a main focus on intricate details nevertheless, the story is taking interesting turns. I am still seeing the novel in a positive light.
