With the first quarter of the year drawing to a close (how the heck has time gone by so fast?) - what has been the best book(s) that you have read so far this year?

for me it was Daughter of Smoke and Bone (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #1) by Laini Taylor - so many ppl raved about it on a young adult forum that I frequent that I finally picked it up and was blown away

my other 2 5-star reads so far this year have been Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer - I did listen to this as an audiobook, so I don't know if that changed my perception of it because there were apparently pictures in the print copy that caused some ppl to rate the book down and Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma - when I first started reading this, I was like, ehhh, not so sure how its going to turn out, but by the end of it I wanted everything to work out between the two of them

Bec (foreverfnm) | 40 comments Dee - It is certainly on my TBR, but I have yet to get my hands on a copy, as this year I have made a pact to only buy books for uni - not for personal reading. It is making me use my library and read books i already own (but never read). So I asked my library to get in What It Is Like to Go to War and they said it hasn't been published in Australia yet, which sounds like bollocks to me.

Dee (austhokie) | 776 comments Mod
its possible that there is a delay in having it released in australia - have you thought about trying bookmooch.com or a website like that to get books...you can list your books on there you want to get rid of, and ppl mooch them, then you can mooch books back

Katie Gianelli (katie094) | 58 comments The Hunger Games series of course! And also I read The Book Thief by Markus Zusak which is really unique and amazing. (I have no idea how you guys put the cover of the books into your posts since I am not very talented with tech-y things lol.)

message 24: by Bec (new)

Bec (foreverfnm) | 40 comments Katie, The Book Thief is one of my favourite books of all time! Such an amazing story. I bawled by eyes out first time I read it, and I am not one for crying while reading.

and to put covers of books in posts, click the 'add book/author' button above the box you write your comment in, then before you type the name of the book you want, make sure you click the 'add: cover' toggle at the bottom of that box. Then search for your book, and click add. It will then add some text that is in [], which turns into the picture.

:)

Katie Gianelli (katie094) | 58 comments Thanks Bec. And I know what you mean about the Book Thief, I've never cried during a book, I think ever. But this one made me bawl like a baby. Definitly want to re-read it

So I spent some time going over and over again what my 5 top books would be for this year. In order they are as follows. I just have to say book #1 is Book 2 from the Legend of the Four Soldiers series and I have to say my favourite moment from the entire book is as follows:

“Each time it was like a stray bit of glass pressed into the softness of her heart, grinding, grinding, oh so silently until she no longer noticed when she bled.”

Oh wait!!! There can't just be one:

“Melisande blinked rapidly, then looked back to the little box with garnet earrings. Her ears weren't even pierced. She touched one of the garnets with a fingertip and wondered if he'd ever looked-really looked- at her at all.”

2012 has been an amazing reading year for me so far My top 5 are as follows:

To Seduce A Sinner (Legend of the Four Soldiers, #2) by Elizabeth Hoyt Lothaire (Immortals After Dark, #12) by Kresley Cole Match Me If You Can (Chicago Stars, #6) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips Lover Reborn (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #10) by J.R. Ward Wicked Intentions (Maiden Lane, #1) by Elizabeth Hoyt

P.S.
Samantha I honestly can say loved every book in the LotFS series!! To Beguile a Beast was amazing. I wish Elizabeth Hoyt had more books out that I could read, Unfortunately I have to wait for July.... oh man!
