Diana S 1) Did anyone notice the Author's note at the end of the book?

She tells us the character of Homan was based on a real person.

Does this affect the way you see the book?
Does it put on a whole different light on Homan?

2) In an interview, Rachel Simon said that Homan follows a journey somewhat liked Odysseus went through in The Odyssey.

Could you see that in the book?
What similarities did you see between Homan and Odysseus?
Does the Story of Beautiful Girl conjure up other myths, folktales, or fairytales?

3) How did you like the way the romance between Homan and Linnie was portrayed?
Do you think their disabilities got in the way of their romance?

I felt while reading that she had such an indepth knowledge of this character that I wondered if she had known someone like him. It doesn't change my perspective of him but confirms that there are such people in real life. The ending with their romance was very precious to me. They had always had such feelings and held out hoping they would connect again. I thought she did a really good job of keeping the romance alive.
