I love her! Sometimes she was annoying but everyone has their flaws. I just love the way she approached situations.
Yeah she was a nice relatable heroine. I loved that because she was an Abnegation, she wasn't throwing herself at Four or anything. That's one of the problems I sometimes have with YA: too much boy craziness. So she was good for me. A nice change.
I love Tris. She's so brave. I agree with you about that she doesn't throw herself at Four. In most YA books, the relationships are so unrealistic.

Agreed Zoe and Webiny, sometimes young adult really gets me frustrated because of all the stupid, shallow romances (take Twilight for example). But this was a good romance with a girl who at least had some sense knocked into her after being in a selfless community for a while

I liked all the characters in this book exspecially Tris cause like you guys said, they were relatable even though they were in situations I couldn't even dream of actualy being in, and again Tris wasn't Four-crazy and the book didn't revolve around Tris though she seemed nice and she was very likeable.
I loved Tris. She was very strong and independent, and when she realized she loved Four, she didn't go all out with the emotion. She stayed true to herself the whole time
I loved every bit of her character:) she was everything i expected in a heroine and i loved seeing the story in her point of view , u saw her growing feelings for four develop slowly and u got to see how much braver she had become:)
I just feel I have to add a dissenting voice here. I couldn't stand this book. It was boring and unlike people have said I thought the romance was pathetic and typical of these dystopian YA books. Tris was one of those characters who never really comes through as a personality, they are just there as a sleeve for the reader to put themselves in. And in this book, I didn't even like the supporting characters.
I absolutely LOVE TRIS!!!!! She's my favorite protagonist of a series ever (besides Rose from VA) and I just love her strength and determination, her will!! I love what a strong character she is! And she acts so realistically to situations that happen!! She's a very strong, determined individual and I absolutely LOVE IT!!! I love Divergent!!! It's my 3rd fav series of all time!! (After the Caster Chronicles series and the VA series!) I JUST ADORE TRIS AND THE BOOK!!!!
I really like Tris. She is different from the oncoming stream of boring, tasteless, damsel-in-distressy and bland YA heroines. I found her realistic and reasonable enough
I would have loved Tris if she didn't have her background. I thought the author just tried too much to make Tris, a girl who grew up in a selfless environment and, of course, HAD to have become selfless herself, become suddenly that strong and smart and selfish person. Like Mrs. Roth wanted to show us how special her main character was, and that just bothered me so much through the book, because it wasn't realistic at all.BUT, if she hadn't come from that kind of environment, yeah, I would have liked her very much.
Tris is one of the most amazing characters out there in the ya catagory today... Until insurgent happened. Then she joined the oh I'm so depressed and want to die club. A shame because this seems to be a trend for a lot of heroines, especially the really strong and unique ones
I LOVE HER SO MUCH! For me, Tris is a very independent, smart, and brave heroine that I've ever known. I found myself enjoy her character when I read Divergent. She also the one that not "crazy in love" with Four and she makes him fall for her.
Tris, like most of the characters in Divergent, wasn't fleshed out enough for me. If the author had spent just a little bit more time, just a smidge, on each scene, I might have fallen for Divergent.

I agree that Tris was a likeable character but boy did the author mess up Four towards the end of the series. Along with messing up some other things too...
i like her but the thing is, she does not listen. in insurgent, Four/ Tobias kept on trying to keep her safe but she keeps on risking her life for no reason.
In Divergent: Man, she's bad-ass.In Insurgent: Annoying. Always ignoring what others say
In Allegiant: Always think she's right and again annoying.
I only really liked her in the first book.
In the other two books, there was moments I liked her but overall I didn't like her.
Overall, she's okay...
MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE ENTIRE TRILOGYAt the beginning of Divergent, I was thinking, 'Hey, this heroine actually has a little sense! Let's see how long this opinion lasts!' It didn't last long. I mean, you know how someone is going to get people highly trained in combat to kill an entire faction of innocent people, and you #@%*ing GO TO SLEEP? And then in Insurgent, I was on Tobias's side. What was her thought process when she continually tries to kill herself, but thinks of it as 'selflessness'? Then when she's actually about to die, she decides she doesn't want to. Great time to come to that realization, Tris! It took a lot of luck to survive that, and then in Allegiant, I still don't understand why she went instead of Caleb. So, he wanted to go out of guilt rather than love. Why does that mean you go? Can someone explain this? This sounds despicable, but the only reason I cried for her death was because of Tobias's reaction.
But I still loved the trilogy :)
Yeah, I liked the first two books, especially the first one, but the third one reeked of being a rush job. It could have been so much better.
Lynne wrote: "Yeah, I liked the first two books, especially the first one, but the third one reeked of being a rush job. It could have been so much better."I would have to agree. I loved this series and then I read the last book and HATED it! I tell people who ask me about that I loved the first two and to read the last one at their own risk. lol
Tris is one of my favourite heroins. I love how brave and strong she is while maintaining her human nature. I love how she handles situations and how realistic she feels. Also she has a strong connection with her family and I really like how she still puts her family first despite her relationship with Tobias.
Am I the only one who thought (view spoiler)
Though, I do love Tobias! It's just that in Insurgent I found him kinda meh...
OMg. I like the whole enemies to lovers plot but Tris and Peter? Idk, would she have turned him down or would she actually leave Tobias for him? Maybe I'd like this theory better if Tobias wasn't just so amazing. I totally agree that Tobias didn't have his best moments in Insurgent. Honestly tho, was he ever as cool and epic as in Divergent in the rest of the series?(view spoiler)
I don't know, its just I was feeling like it would be THE moment to do it. And well, maybe Peter would confess and all but Tris would just stick with Tobias no matter what... Idrk xD
Yeah xDIt sounds weird I know...
Its just the way he acts when she's around, always grumpy and scowling you know :)
Anyways, it was just a thought that crossed my mind as I read the book and it just kept on coming back to me so I just thought, "well I'm gonna share it and see what others think".
I like Tris, BUT I don't like the fact that she kept risking her life all the time, especially when it came to her brother, who betrayed her.
Yeah, that's trueThough I think she just needs too, she has lots of adrenaline coursing through her all the time and she just needs to get it out somehow
She is a very realistic character, who shows her flaws and is ridiculously brave. But sometimes, for those very reasons, she really annoys me!
I liked her a lot, she was very courageous, though sometimes I had to question her logic. But hey, no one's perfect (shrugs)
I only read the first book of the trilogy because i cant seem to get myself to read the other two but tris i liked her she very brave and a decent main character haha.
Magdalena wrote: "I liked her a lot, she was very courageous, though sometimes I had to question her logic. But hey, no one's perfect (shrugs)"I agree with you. Allegiant was not my favourite but I guess the series had to wrap up in some way.
