Melanie Cusick-Jones (melc-j) More and more authors - especially indies - are using 'book trailers' as part of their promotion work. I've seen some fantastic ones recently and even established authors are using them.

So if you have one for your own book(s) post them here for us to see :)

Belinda Buchanan | 15 comments Thanks Melanie,

I must say that making this trailer was by FAR the best part of self-promotion, because it was fun!

message 6: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Cusick-Jones (melc-j) The two teaser trailers I've done for Hope's Daughter and my next book.

Melanie Cusick-Jones (melc-j) Michael wrote: "What program did you use to edit/create the videos?"

I used the standard video package that came on the mac - there's something similar on Windows PC now that I've used at work. They're pretty basic but do the job.

Should I make you a fan trailer when I've read Shades of Gray? It's next on my TBR list if I ever finish The Passage :)

Belinda Buchanan | 15 comments Michael wrote: "What program did you use to edit/create the videos?"

Hi Michael,
I used windows movie maker. It is a free app. For the pics, I used dreamstime photos, and used serif photo to edit them. This trailer cost me about $20 and 3 days. If you have the time and patience it is a fairly simple app to use. :)

Jade Varden (jadevarden) | 11 comments I also used Windows Movie Maker. I didn't spend any money on mine (because I don't have any!). You can find copyright-free music, video and images at creativecommons.org. Here's my book trailer:

The trailer's great - it's the first time I've seen it - and I liked the mention :) I think it works really well for Justice - carries the themes through nicely and draws out the mystery.

Are you doing one for The Tower?

message 11: by Karina (new)

Karina Kantas Windows movie maker created mine :)

message 15: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Cusick-Jones (melc-j) I'd love to but I just copied it over from an old thread - if you're interested in seeing it maybe do author search here as they've probably posted it to their author page - sorry!

Stephanie Judice (stephaniejudice) Hi, all! I was very fortunate to have a local artist sketch my characters and a local band to write an original song for my trailer. It's for my YA novel RISING.

Hope you enjoy! http://youtu.be/5DVYqpRy6yE

Marc Nash (sulci) | 181 comments Hi guys, I've made 19 vids on all things books all using my 4 year old Mac laptop which means a very old version of I-Movie - it's still a fab programme and easy to use, other than the subtitles which I would hope are much improved on later versions. if anyone's interested, I can repost a how-to on my blog (in words, not a vid tutorial).

message 33: by Eyehavenofilter (new)

Eyehavenofilter | 101 comments Spongemichaelsquarepants that's quite the trailer! I LIKE it!!!
It's terrifying. I can't think of too much else that would scare the hell out of me other than to wake up from being unconscious, to find myself in an unknown place, bound to a chair half dressed, with people I've never seen before taking flash photos of me, whilst asking me questions I don't know any thing about! Hmmmm.... Then again.... Nope! It's still pretty frakkin scarey!

message 34: by Eyehavenofilter (new)

Eyehavenofilter | 101 comments Oh yeah btw... I forgot how to add photos to my page. I did it once and promptly forgot. Now I'm a moron and I can't add photos. I can't access any files. Why am I doing this wrong? HELP? Oh great and powerful SBSP!

message 35: by Michael (new)

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 372 comments Thank you Ada, glad you liked it!

Do you mean photos for your GR profile?

Click the little down arrow in the top right, then Edit Profile.

Then More Photos in the top right, and add more photos, again in the top right.

Sounds interesting and eerie! Where is the synopsis?

message 43: by Michael (new)

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 372 comments The synopsis is the text in the video. There is limited space for what you can put in the description, not sure if it would all fit or not.

Lemme take a look...

Leena - I have updated the video description to include the synopsis. It seems you can put far more text in it than I realised.

Thanks for prompting me to test it!

I am indeed!

I've been told John Turturro or Patrick Maber, erstwhile sidekick of Steve Coogan during his Paul Calf days and also the writer of "Dealer's Choice" but the de Niro thing is a new one!
