Jack | 88 comments Thoughts?

Anna | 144 comments Who's nicked my copy...

Raven (missy_aurora) | -45 comments I fell in love with this series after the first page! I was also really sad because of how Nathaniels master treated him, expecially when he was four (or five?) and sent him into the study. I hope they make a movie because it would be epic! Also love Barts footnotes.

Anna | 144 comments Yes I loved the opening chapter too...

Jack | 88 comments I love Bartimaeus' claims about his legendary feats.

I'd like to see a movie too, but I don't know if they could do it well.

Raven (missy_aurora) | -45 comments I think it was the history of it I liked, I don't know how the author would have crammed all the explanation of terms in there without the foot notes, would have been a bit sloppy without that.

Perfection *Sherlock's Girl* | 174 comments The footnotes... Oh the footnotes.. I sincerely wish Bart was a person. I predict there would definitely be a fangirl-ing fan club...:D

Perfection *Sherlock's Girl* | 174 comments I don't know about everyone else but the cover of the books I own are The Amulet of Samarkand (Bartimaeus Trilogy, #1) by Jonathan Stroud The Golem's Eye (Bartimaeus Trilogy, #2) by Jonathan Stroud Ptolemy's Gate (Bartimaeus Trilogy, #3) by Jonathan Stroud . Mostly because I bought the books like 6 years back.
But the latest covers that have come out are AMAZING!!! Namely these ones:
The Amulet of Samarkand (Bartimaeus, #1) by Jonathan Stroud
Golems Eye (Bartimaeus, #2) by Jonathan Stroud Ptolemy's Gate 3 (Bartimaeus, #3) by Stroud .

The tag lines are:
AoS : Time to face your demons.
GE : A hidden power. A deadly enemy.
PG: When evil triumphs, who do you trust?

Personally, I love the 1st one. It's such an awesome pun!!!

Jack | 88 comments I only have the Golem's Eye and Ptolemy's Gate, although I've been meaning to order the other two from Amazon.

Unfortunately, neither of the books I own have the awesome covers you have (in fact, the Amulet of Samarkand in this cover series is downright ugly), but I still want to get a complete set.

I really like the first AoS cover that you have, for unknown reasons.

Anyway, the covers of the ones I own:
Ptolemy's Gate (Bartimaeus, #3) by Jonathan Stroud and The Golem's Eye (Bartimaeus, #2) by Jonathan Stroud

Perfection *Sherlock's Girl* | 174 comments I hate these covers... I changed the version in my Goodreads library so I wouldn't have to see them...:-/
Why not just get all 4 of the newer set. My Ring of Solomon is from that series. This 1 : The Ring of Solomon A Bartimaeus Novel by Jonathan Stroud

Jack | 88 comments I actually really like The Golem's Eye, although I don't know why. However, I have problems with the newer ones, mainly because of their portrayal of Bartimaeus.

Elaborate.

Jack | 88 comments Well, it's always the same demon. It's not even in Bartimaeus' favorite guise, Ptolemy.

Perfection *Sherlock's Girl* | 174 comments Yeah! I mean he took that gargoyle form in AoS. And once in Golem's Eye. Did he take it in Ptolemy's Gate too?

And what is up with that bull on Golem's Eye's cover???

message 15: by Jack (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jack | 88 comments It's a Minotaur, the form he took when fighting the golem in the museum.

Nikki Sojkowski (nikkisoj) | 868 comments I just started this book today! I'm super excited hahaha and his footnotes are REALLY entertaining yet helpful at the same time

message 18: by Anna (new) - rated it 4 stars

Anna | 144 comments I prefer the old covers.

Raven (missy_aurora) | -45 comments I really like the American Covers (original ones) but I can't stand the cover for The Ring of Solomon.

Perfection *Sherlock's Girl* | 174 comments Umm could you guys post 1 cover from the series of covers you'll are talking about? That would be helpful.:)

@ Nikki: Yayyyyy!!!!!!!! It's Jack and my mission to make people read this series... Go Bart!

Jack | 88 comments I believe Missy means the covers I have, but I'm not positive.

Are you referring to this, Missy? The Ring of Solomon (Bartimaeus, #4) by Jonathan Stroud

Perfection *Sherlock's Girl* | 174 comments Love your new profile pic Jack. It bears a startling resemblance to Tom Marvolo Riddle.:D

Jack | 88 comments In a suit, no less. :)

Perfection *Sherlock's Girl* | 174 comments I'm thinking about changing mine... Suggestions?

message 25: by Katherine (new)

Katherine Sparrow | 3 comments I loved these books so much, and I thought they did that rare trilogy thing of it all building together so well and the ending being amazingly perfect. I've read other stuff by Stroud but nothing comes close to Bartimeus, I think.

Oh, that's too bad.

I personally think that the series improves with each book, but that's just my opinion, and if you had a hard time with the first book, you probably wouldn't like the next ones as well.
