*~Can't Stop Reading~* discussion

Just to clarify this section is for anyone to put their personal 1001 books you must read before you die lists. Either the full list or a highly edited list of closer to say 500 books. Whatever you feel you could make a dent out of across your reading life.

Yep, and remember we do a monthly read from the list so we can slowly but surely make a dent in it.

I shall add my pitiful showing of 17 books here. I must admit though, there are a large number of books on this list that I have zero interest in reading. Ever. But, then again, I would never have read The Poisonwood Bible if it weren't for this group, and I loved it. Just saying.

Edited to say - Oops. 16 books. I'm still slogging through Great Expectations.

Well we will be reading more group reads. :D

The thing I like about the list is the wide variety of subjects and writing styles.
There are books I never would have considered reading but have found that I have enjoyed them very much. I would not have read Don Quixote, Aesop’s Fables, and from the 1800’s Uncle Tom’s Cabin, and the Bronte sisters. I am working my way though the books in the pre-1700’s. I have a 1001 books to read list that includes all three lists: 2006, 2008, 2010. There are 1294 books on that list. I have to say I am looking forward to reading some of the books on the list while I know there are some I will chose not to read. I am enjoying the challenge.

That's great Miss.terri I'm glad you're enjoying the reads. There are just so many that it is easy to avoid books which I wouldn't want to read which is a good thing!

Yikes, I can't believe it. I now see there is more than one 1001 list. I am dumbfounded that people do this. i don't mean that in a bad way because it truly is a sign of someone who really, really, REALLY! can't stop reading. HATS OFF TO ALL 1001 LISTERS! I don't think I cld make a list of 101 and I love reading. I walk away humbled.

I personally am trying to (eventually) read all 1001 books from all the lists. However my first goal is to read one book by each author. From the way I figure it (and I may be off) that cuts the selection down to 769. Taking out the authors I have read more than one book by I am currently at 39/769. 5% down!

For the full list I am 50/1294 3.8%.

Well most of the 1001 lists around are for different people to aspire to read one day R.J. Some want to read all 1001 some want to read only 100 or so but so long as people are reading is the thing.
