Dappledface rested his aching bones on a warm patch of grass, meanwhile Singingwind ran through the valleys, trying in vain to dissipate her copious amounts of energy.

Aphrodite walked around, smiling softly

Dappledface caught Aphrodite's scent, then turned around to see her. "Good morning," he welcomed his beta.

Aphrodite nodded at him "Morning" she said

Dappledface slowly got to his paws, then sniffed the ground. He looked up at Aphrodite, "So many rabbits around lately! Getting hay for their nests, having babies. Having babies soon. I like babies, they grow into tasty adult rabbits," he said, not caring that he was stating the obvious in which Aphrodite already knew.

Aphrodite nodded and smiled softly "Your right, they grow up fast too, good for us so we dont have to wait"

Dappledface grinned, "yes, rabbits," he said, gazing off as in lost in his thoughts.

Aphrodite smiled at him "Would you like to go hunting?"

Dappledface shook his head of his own thoughts then stared at Aphrodite for a while. "Yes.… I would like to go hunting."

Aphrodite smiled brightly and took a step backward then turned to face the territory she took one more step then glanced at him over her shoulder "Come on!"

Dappledface bounded toward her, grunting as the ache popped from his bones.

Aphrodite turned to him quickly "If your hurting you shouldnt move"

"No, no, no," he dismissed. "I just needed to get up. That's all. These old bones need exercise."

Aphrodite looked at him, unsure whether he was telling the truth

Dappledface stepped out ahead of her, to be ready to be the first to leap for the kill, as the alpha should. His bones ached as he got up, but as he walked the pain become much more tolerable. He knew how he would be hurting if they succeeded in a hunt, and he wondered if Aphrodite would be a better alpha. He began to slow his steps so she would be ahead of him.

Dappledface caught wind of prey, but resisted the urge to leap forward. He nudged her lightly, motioning toward the goral browsing ahead.

Dappledface continued at a moderate pace and held the goral for her.

Dappledface smiled at Aphrodite's kill. He licked its warm blood as he waited for her to take the first bite.

Aphrodite, still uncomfortable with taking the lead, catiously took the first bite then looked at Dappledface

Dappledface smiled and began to eat, surprised by how hungry he was.

Aphrodite began to eat slowly but happily

Dappledface ate his fill, then began to tug at a hind quarter for whoever at the den would need it.

Aphrodite smiled and helped him

Dappledface pulled it free and plopped it on the ground. He looked at Aphrodite, unsure if she was done eating or not. He waited, panting and happy.

Aphrodite smiled at him and nodded indicating she was done

Dappledface began dragging the hind quarter toward the campsite.

Aphrodite graciouslly helped him

Dappledface snarled seeing a leopard slink by. The giant feline meant no trouble, but the old dhole was uneasy.

Aphrodite looked at the leopard and then at Dappledface "It means no harm, better not to start anything thats unnecessary"

Dappledface nodded. "That is the very embodiment of our clan's spirit, Aphrodite. The Leopard protects us in everything we do, but that does not mean the animal will have mercy if we look at it the wrong way," he stated.

Aphrodite nodded and smiled at his wise words

Dappledface slunk by, carefully observing the holy cat.

Aphrodite looked at it for a minute then down again
